Oh yeah, love those crawdads. My front pasture can be bone dry for 6 months, we get 3 tenths of rain, & overnight I've got mounds everywhere. Amazing little creatures! Speaking of amazing little creatures we don't see any more are ground squirrels. Remember them from my youth growing up on the golf course, i don't believe I've seen any in 30 years....

After hearing the passing of Scott, I decided to watch his last ever video he ever made as a respect and honour to this great man. As a subscriber and someone who he didn't know, you were always kind enough to reply to my comments from the garden tunnel to the time you wiped the engine dipstick on your shirt ( I love it when Kim cought you and filmed you on the act!! ) You'll be miss by Kim, your family and your dog's, but also your friends and utuber's and me especially. Enjoy Heaven Scott as I'm sure you will and don't forget to drop by and see your family friend's and your dog's from time to time. But most of your soul mate Kim who will always love and miss you. Enjoy paradise my friend.

He was a very unique person and we miss him dearly, we'll try to continue this channel while we still can in honor of him. It definitely won't be the same without him and his bright personality but we'll do our best! Thanks again, Cody

Hi Cody. Thank you so much for replying to my comment and you are all very welcome too, I felt I should pay my respect for him after watching you and your family's sad announcement about your Dad, I decided I should honour him and respect him for all the entertainment he provided and that I decided for myself to watch this last video he made as a big Thank you and to pay my condolences too. Your Dad was certainly a great and talented man especially when it came to projects from the garden tunnel to irrigation equipment in the fields, and most of all especially maintaining and running of the hay equipment for the business too, he was certainly a Jack of all trade's and knew his stuff when it came to anything. He was also kind enough to reply to my comments back on his videos as well as your good self too, Thank you, and as always I've hit the like button as a show of appreciation earlier on the day too. It's great to hear you are all going to continue on the hay business and also the channel too which is fantastic to hear ! I'm sure you and your family will manage fine aswell as you and your family will be there for support too. I'm sure your Dad will be looking out for you and your family. Again thank you so much for replying to my comment. Take care now and all the best to you and your family. Calum Anderson

Just my 2 cents Scott but I would go with the massey Ferguson razor back cutter head on a self propelled. 2 sets of rollers steel on steel and a rugged build overall. I run across 300 acres and I just picked up another farm so I’m 608 acres now in eastern New York. I small square bale everything, your videos were a big help for me to move towards the massey line of equipment !!! From all of us at W A Ranch we hope your 2019 season is outstanding !!!

I have had Deere and NH mowers. The NH mower does clog up with mud in between the front skids and push the grass over before it is cut. Deere mowers are made with the front skid as part of cutter bar and NH are bolt on. The deere mower never clogged up with me. In dry conditions I do feel that the NH is a better cut though. NH is a good mower but I will most likely go back deere.

Zack Stahl John Deere are good disc mowers, they are made by Kuhn, I have a 8ft disc mower a 1162 Gehl , it is also made by Kuhn. If you look at all three mowers John Deere , Gehl, and Kuhn they all look the same, identical, . My Gehl was bought new in 2004. This year I going to put a new tarp on it. The only thing I done is buy new blades when it needs them. It mows at least 175 acres every year and every acre is mowed and baled at least twice and at least 50 acres of it is mowed and baled three times. Last year we also bale and extra 60 acres. These hay fields are broken up into many different fields.

Scott you really need to give vicon or aka kubota mowers a serious look. Since Kubota bought vicon they are a lot easier to find now with Kubota's vast dealer network. There triple blade setup is the only thing that will get thru your mounds of dirt and still cut close to the ground to get the lodged hay. The one thing Ive noticed is with the triple blade you use less horsepower. I really wish the other manufactures would offer the triple blade setup. We deal with ant mounds similar to your crawdad problems. Looks like they leave the same mess. We can't even use a sickle to get thru some of our meadows in the wetter years because of them so the disc mowers have taken over. For some reason they want to build up out of the ground in the wetter years instead of having there colony under ground. Just my 2cents
@Chris_In_Texas5 жыл бұрын
@North Texas Hay - Ortho Orthene for fire ants works great on the crayfish (crawfish). Sprinkle a bit on each mound and no more. I have them in our bar ditch in Collin County and leaves a mess, little bit of the Acephate in orthene and no more crayfish.

Are the crawdads migrating from your ponds? Might get yourself in the chicken business by fencing around your ponds and putting a couple hundred chickens out. Then you can be in the coyote hunting business. Never a dull moment on a farm. Thanks for sharing your videos. Wishing you and the boss a merry Christmas.
@Buck19545 жыл бұрын
Put a bar in front of the cutter to stand the grass up before the cutter goes through. Maybe knock the crawdad mounds down at the same time. It bend the grass over backwards but perhaps it would fold back over in time for cutter to cut clean. Maybe not a solution, but an idea.

You need to buy a new fold up land roller! They have several new ones out that cover about 30’ or larger! Rolling is good for the grass and will smooth your fields tremendously if you do so several times a cutting season. Rolling has gained popularity in turf and in row cropping as of late. Many row crop farmers roll to keep their fields as smooth as possible, so equipment can operate smoothly. Rolling will definitely take care of those crawdad mounds and with a 30 footer it won’t take you long at all!
