One of the most well spoken easy to follow historians. the background music is not overpowering and the fidelity is smack on. the visuals are tasteful and well worth a watch!

Thanks again Ray so pleased to hear you are enjoying them. As Ive said many times in my bulletins I am not receiving any monetary reward for my films so getting viewers praise is my only and true reward. It makes all the hardwork worthwhile. Many thanks again Jon

Love your films Jon, thank you. Your Borders and Northumberland content has kept me sane whilst living in East Sussex these last few years, and I am so happy to be going home to North Northumberland for good next month. It really is such a beautiful place, rich in history - and I agree - the weather aint bad at all!

Thank you Beth I appreciate your support, Im guessing you are already subscribed? If not do, so you wont miss the new series on release now which is a more in depth journey up the coast. I am working my way north week by week so you might see me up there, would be great to meet you as I have with quite a few of my subscribers. Best wishes Jon

Love your videos as someone who lives in Northumberland/ Borders. Wow imagine having a castle on your land and you get to keep it all to yourself! Used to drive through Cartington regularly when my parents lived at Callaly Castle and never knew that was even there!

Thanks for nice comments. Had a bit of an issue with the farmer there who wrongly refused me access, had to film from a remote spot and rely on online images, so not my usual standard. Glad you enjoyed it anyway. Im in the process of producing a new series on Northumberland so be sure to subscribe and switch on notifications so you will know each time there is a new post. Love your "username" by the way really cool ! many thanks again Jon

Who would have thought Margaret Tudor stayed there! Excellent information and at a good pace, but still I have to watch again to take the history in, I don’t have the brain for dates and names until I keep trying! 😆 works well for viewer stats with the likes of me! Thanks for my name compliment, it comes from my business that I had in Berwick for a while, still going but online, although due to a variety of IT things it’s being put back together! Already a subscriber, always like. Will leave comments to help the algorithm your channel deserves it. 👍🏻

Thank you Paola for your great comments the next episodes will be up in the next few weeks Ive just finished filming the last ones today. I have already answered comments about Tynemouth. It was included in the coast video last year because that was a tourist video. This series being factual means I cant include tynemouth as it is no longer "Northumberland" and in Tyne and Wear. Similarly Newcastle keep isnt included either for the same reason. Sorry to disapoint keep watching lots more to come best wishes Jon

Divine the castle where the war of the S axons take place, lord Uhtred, "Seven kings must die": what happened to Uhtred and Aethelstan, history or medieval reality, it is fantastic to see where these great events, beautiful and tragic moments could develop.
@jonimrye5722 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. Uhtred was a real person and lived in Northumbria. The Netflix series embellished the facts to make it more appealing but none the less he did exist. Hope you enjoy the rest of my channel. Best wishes Jon

Mate - the Scots did NOT wear kilts until hundreds of years later... And kilts weren't originally a Highland garment but likely an Anglo-Scottish border garment adopted by the Highlanders. Great video though, really enjoyed it.

Thanks for your comment. Please would you point out where the mistake is? At what point in the video? Im not sure as to what you are referring to. Thanks for your help. kind regards Jon

I have some trouble understanding why some of these castle owners would forbid filming. They should be very proud of their homes.
@jonimrye57222 жыл бұрын
Hi David, simply because they dont want the public tramping over their land. In the case of Chipchase Castle the owner is Jonathan Elkington an investment banker from the USA, when I spoke with him on the phone he told me he only allows tv companies paying $6,700 a day (£5,000 in our money) he said if I were prepared to pay that he would allow me to film. I agree with you though.
