Like I said in the video, when I got my first one, I thought it was probably just a novelty. They’ve really proven themselves to be a useful woodworking tool.

Hi 👋, Jason , I hope you are keeping safe and well, great info, I didn’t realise that you could use a Mac computer with the software, Somebody told me earlier in the year that I needed a PC , which obviously is a lot cheaper than iMac, I’ve been watching quite a few different videos on laser cutters and engravers, Seems very interesting, I’m hoping to start a little business up after Christmas, all being well, I’m glad to see and hear that you are going to put your bowl, turning back together the exploded on you , look forward to seeing that, stay safe, Phil from the moulin France

Thank you, Phil! Yes, these machines are a lot of fun as well as a very handy tool. There are a lot of great videos on the software which is how I’ve learned everything I know about it. Thank you for your comment!

Lets try that again: Well you smoked that video. Looking at the stock that was left over gave me a thought: One could make interesting lamp houses with intricate designs for both indoor and outdoor use. Really great video Jason a big thumbs up. Who would have thought that Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation could be so versatile...just don't cross the beams.

@NorthwestSawyer11 ай бұрын
Right? I use that mallet all the time. And I’ll definitely be using that laser a lot too. Creality also makes 3D printers which I know almost nothing about but am pretty sure I need 😂

Very cool Jason. Will it work on metal also? If so maybe something cool on the truck build?
@NorthwestSawyer11 ай бұрын
Thank you! It can cut very thin stainless steel but nothing like a CNC plasma. That is a dream tool of mine.
@robertbamford826611 ай бұрын
Amazing. And almost no kerf. Do you think the char will keep the glue from working (great mechanical connection!)?
@NorthwestSawyer11 ай бұрын
I don’t think so. There really isn’t much char. It doesn’t come off on your fingers. And fit is so good, I don’t think a ton of glue is needed.

How cool. Where do you come up with these ideas? This is beyond cool

IMO enclosures are almost as useful as the honeycomb. Wouldn’t run one without it unless the job necessitated. I’m running the Xtool 20W Pro. Nice seeing the difference from the 20 to 40W! Have a great weekend 😁

Thank you! I’ve never had a problem just running a fan out the window but I never had to do it during the winter. This will be a great addition to any of my lasers.

So, when does the 'Laser Table' video come out?
@thomasfriedmann852211 ай бұрын
Some form of fume capture and venting is a definite must. Just like you use a filter mask while cutting, the vapor products aren't good for lungs.
@jeffreylord817211 ай бұрын
Jason, can you make the kerf .15 to allow for glue, .1 appears very tight and it may scrape/push out all the glue the joint. If you clamp the broken bowl turn it bowl down and cut the bow ties from the bottom, Just a thought.
@NorthwestSawyer11 ай бұрын
I can move the kerf offset inward or outward to any variation. Thats the beauty of the software. I could even make it much larger to allow for colored epoxy which gives me a new idea all together 🤔. I had actually planned to sand smooth the bottom of the bowl and try the laser that way😉
@paulthompson861311 ай бұрын
could you do dove tails with a laser
@NorthwestSawyer11 ай бұрын
@@paulthompson8613 I don’t see why not unless you’re talking about end grain for making boxes. I think a router would still be the most efficient for that. But to join two pieces of wood like the bow ties are, piece of cake.
@Matthew-KN4QHQ11 ай бұрын
For the Bow ties sockets I have always used my router. Could you use the laser to cut your bow tie shape in a thinner piece of material and add on the dimension of a bushing? Then just tape it down route it out and you have your bow tie socket the exact dimensions in your piece of wood. With your bow tie design those corners will take some finishing but the bulk could come out with the router and template. With that laser you could come up with all kinds of cool shapes.
@NorthwestSawyer11 ай бұрын
Absolutely. You can even cut them in acrylic like the templates that you buy.
@hondacrm30611 ай бұрын
Hi Jason, I know next to nothing about lasers and wood cutting but I know a little bit more now, thanks. One question, if you are using bow ties, will the wood you are using be the same type as the bowel wood you are trying to repair? The extraction system looks to be working well 👍
@NorthwestSawyer11 ай бұрын
Ideally with bow ties, you use contrasting colors of wood to highlight the craftsmanship involved with the repair. That’s definitely what I’m planning to do here.

Jason, that laser has fantastic capabilities ! The very first cut you made resulted in a bit of waste wood, a perfect circle. I immediately thought of a portable northwest sawyer brand for using them up. Your logo is round, so you ought to be able to fit that onto your circular blanks.The other side can be used at the same time for T U I T S. (Round ones. ) This seems to be a great setup for a NW sawyer souvenir for your customers ( and other possible customers ).

His channel name is "Unemployed Redneck Hillbilly Creations". He's been into the laser stuff for a long time and recently just got a laser like yours except he got the hard cabinet. He's does a lot of other stuff as well like woodworking, sawyer, machinist, gardener, crafts, etc. He's old like me and a real wealth of knowledge. Keep up the good work! You're doin' good!
