Is accurate enough to use on inlay work? Would it cut out both the positive and negative image on two different pieces of wood so that you could put them back together? Looks like you are getting the best toys. Thanks for sharing.
@NorthwestSawyer2 жыл бұрын
Kevin that’s exactly what I was thinking. In the LightBurn program, you can dial in the size of your cut to the thousandth of a mm. I was thinking this would be great for bow ties but any inlay you could make adjustments for the negative and positive cuts.

Hey Jason, You're going to have a lot of fun with your new toy. I don't know if the instructions forewarned about what to be careful of when engraving stay away from any mirrors or chromed items because it will reflect the laser beam backup at you. If you do plastic or acrylic make sure you have plenty of ventilation... It smells pretty bad and my neighbors ask me what was burning in my shop. Just to be on the safe side keep a fire extinguisher nearby, I set one of my projects on fire by accident. Stay safe and looking forward to more videos.
@NorthwestSawyer2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Mark! I just hung a fire extinguisher in my shop a few weeks ago. The laser came with safety glasses which I’ve been using. That piece of walnut had a nail in it and I was worried about it reflecting the beam. So far so good👍👍

Are you referring to working with the laser? I wouldn’t thing moisture content would matter but I guess it’s something to test out.
@patriots1needed2 жыл бұрын
@@NorthwestSawyer I wasn’t very clear in my question. I was wondering how long I would need to let freshly milled lumber dry prior to using the laser engraver or if that would even be an issue. Example: I just milled some green oak. Can I put that in the engraver or does it need to dry to a certain percent moisture level? Thanks for posting.

Great to see a video review with a starter laser used on a Mac/iOS platform! So many of the lasers and CNC machines seem to be based on PC platforms. Out of curiosity, it clearly works on odd shaped surfaces like rocks and such, and you can likely put it on platforms for taller material, but can it engrave cups/mugs/tumblers etc? Does Longer have a “roller” adapter for that purpose? Looks like an excellent machine and quite possibly something I’ll follow the link to Jason! Congrats dude 😎
