My time hiking up to the lake was wayyy back in 1979! The hike then started at the end of the drivable-road and at the lake was an old mining-camp and some building were left 'for hikers' then- I don't know now. Either way this hike was always refreshing Escaping the Madness of the city and everything man-made. Back then I had been hitch-hiking regularly from Seattle to San Diego- US to Israel and always back again to this place to relax, get Spiritually back into balance and out again. Thanks for the look!

As someone who has been bacpacking and fishing in the eastern Paysten for 50 years, I offer a couple of comments. First, Remmel lake is full of fish and I have caught many over the years. Second, the trail was rerouted many years ago about a half mile below Remmel lake because of erosion problems. It used to go directly to the east end of the lake from the top of the switchbacks. It now goes from the top of the switchbacks to the north and takes you above the lake. You can still find the old direct trail if you look hard enough.

That is neat that you came across a dead deer in that log jam! Thanks for sharing your adventures. I love having your vids on in the background when I'm doing schoolwork as a reminder of the adventures that can be had once I am done with it all. :)

Yeah, I think I saw on nwhikers.com some crazy statistic like 56% of the Pasayten Wilderness since 1970 has burned...
