I got lucky; I actually managed to visit Norway in the middle of summer and got a literal week of heat and sun, which is basically not a thing in Norway. Trollstigen was an incredible experience, but not an incredible ride - there were buses and shit all the way up (I rode it in the other direction than you did at first in this video). No doubt the incredible weather contributed, the place was jam packed with buses, cars and motorcycles. Your visit was comparatively empty. With my fear of height and only some pointy rocks between me and death, I was a bit stressed out, ngl. 😂 Still, Norway... quite possibly the best place in the world to ride motorcycles. Just bring rain gear. And don't speed, if you want to not do jail time while broke from fines.
@AndyManCam3 ай бұрын
That was lucky! TBH i count our trip as being very lucky too. Into every tour, a little rain must fall! We were also pretty lucky with the traffic too, though dusty weather and early starts really helped!

Quite a lot of gushing here. Not just the waterfall. Norway’s sheep, however, have seen it all before and beat the glaciers for chill. (TS does get dry by the way - you just need to get lucky 😁) Best drone footage of the TS I’ve seen by miles. 👍

Hi Andy. I much enjoyed the latest installment in your Norway series. Are you going to comment in depth on the Rukka gear you and Ian are wearing? What range of temperatures did you experience, and how well did the venting cope? Probably, more to from Ian's perspective as he wasn't on a naked bike. I'm heading that way in July, and am stuck at the "What to Wear" stage?!? Trying to weigh up going Kallavesi (Now the Ecuado-R / Explore-R (UK)) or similar laminated jacket, vs a layering system based around a mesh jacket such as the KNOX Seasonless range. I'd be interested on how well that suit worked on the trip as a whole.
@AndyManCam Жыл бұрын
Cheers Simon! I guess I ought to really, although as you’ve seen, my suit isn’t even current anymore! 🤦🏻♂️ i can tell you that the suit performed admirably for the whole trip. On the colder days, the Outlast liners are brilliant (and soft compared to the nasty shiny fabric some manufacturers use for their liners) and when it warmed up the vents were fantastic. On the last day, we started in sub 10° with all the liners in and thanks to the Outlast fabric and the vents, didn’t need to remove our thermal liners until the temp was around 25° in Denmark. Easily the most versatile textile suit I’ve ever used. The knox system is also great. Obviously far cooler when the outer is stripped off. But depending on the rider and the trip, comes with a bit more faff. With the Rukka, zip/unzip the vents and keep going! But if you’re happy to take breaks, have a relaxed daily pace then obviously the Knox stuff will be just fine. Although it’s also important to remember the Goretex. That stuff is simply magic!
@simonjprince Жыл бұрын
@@AndyManCamThank you for your reply. Unfortunately, Rukka has chosen not to supply the Outlast magic liner or any other liner in the replacement to the Kallavesi!
