Genius. Incredible comic timing and improv. Especially how he incorporated Simon's repulsion into his act. Viggo went to Ecole Philippe Gaulier. A French clown school in Paris. And was trained by Philippe Gaulier himself. He has honed this act to perfection on the comedy circuit. The hair, the dance steps, the wide eye look, standing with feet turned out, the hand gesture to stop the music, music, stop the music, music restarts....every detail. All to perfection. It is actually not simple at all. Art in highest form is not simple. Made to look simple, effortless. But not simple at all. Intricate, complex. Performed to perfection. Genius.

Don't forget that Norway win many times (16 times) in Rose d'or (EBU) that started in 1961. UK did win the comedy adward in 1961, 1967,1972,1977,1985,1988,1990,1991,1995,1997,1999,2001,2002, 2003,2004,etc. So UK and Norway are two comedy countries, we share the same laughter as we share some of the history.

I+m 50 and Norwegian þ We have ALWAYS had a few of these funny guys! I+ve grown up with humor like this. Some are long gone now and some I+ve grown up with. Hope for some new blood in this type of Norwegian stuff. So many of the young people just copy like some stuff from the US or what ever. Did The UK just steal one of our comediansÖÖÖ Well, Viggo must do wat he feel good doing I think.

Thank you, Paul. Very interesting. This is the first audition I watched and I thought it was more about a high embarrassment threshold rather than talent. But, a couple of things I realised: 1) He did not do much, leaving himself a lot of space to ramp it up in the next round (you just need 3 yeses, and many seem to go all in with the first audition); 2) He created a 'brand' with the high viz jackets, witness the crowd wearing them in the semi-final; and 3) Most clever of all was this 'good guy / bad guy' routine with Simon. But, I am glad you saw some skill in pulling off this first audition.

As to whether this is typical Norwegian comedy, I'd say no. I haven't seen anything quite like this in Norway, and I'd say Norwegian comedy is fairly varied (we have our unique things, but they're hard to summarize). British comedy is revered in Norway (viewed as somewhat high-brow), and I guess British humour maybe is known elsewhere also as "not slaptick". So in that sense, his "I'm here because I want to become a British comedian" at 0:59 gets an extra layer of humorous effect.

I can assure you that's not how comedy is done in Norway. In NGT he wouldn't even get an entry. This is the kind of silliness that falls under "A prophet is not without honor except in his own country".
