I am captivated by the way you've shown a genuine interest and capacity in cracking the "Norwegian code" but I think you definitely have. :) Og norsken din er fullstendig upåklagelig! What I, as a Norwegian, always use to accurately determine a foreigners nationality is the tone of how they speak Norwegian (tonefall), such as the Dutch, Germans, Americans, etc., but you nailed that as well. You are so right, we eat dinner early, but maybe its caused by the daylight we get during winter or something. Im guessing here. Dinner is not our last meal during a day, we have something called kveldsmat also. This translates to "evening meal". This is a lighter meal we have closer to bedtime. The typical choises of an "evening meal" would be something similar to breakfast. For example, two slices of bread with toppings.

Tusen takk for en fantastisk flott hilsen til «det norske folk» fra «the American girl». ❤️ Du har virkelig klart å knekke koden med vårt sjeldne språk (cracked the code of our peculiar language = rear). Du har til og med klart å fange musikaliteten i dialekten du har blitt lært (østlandsk fra Oslo vest/Asker?) (You’ve even picked up the melody and rhythm of the dialect you’ve been thought 👏) Jeg håper du får en anledning til å reise rundt til andre steder i Norge ved neste anledning, selv om nye dialekter kan by på nye utfordringer. (you’re probably aware that dialects in Norway are more distinct than some languages in between? Like maybe American English and Jamaican English is closer than Oslo dialect and trøndersk or the dialect at Jæren, where I come from 😂) - Anyway, with your attitude, we all welcome you openheartedly ❤️

As a Norwegian, I couldn't find edible bread when I visited the US. I stayed in LI NY and was told to go to like this expensive wholefoods place, that had like organic veggies and stuff, to find great bread. Yeah, I realized then and there that I wouldn't be able to find any edible bread over there. :D I think what's confusing and difficult about Norwegian is that we have so many spoken dialects. There are only three official written languages(bokmål, nynorsk and samisk), but there are hundreds of spoken dialects. So what you see written, might look NOTHING like how a native in that town will say it. Let's take the word "I" as an example, at the top of my head depending on where you are from may be said in these ways: jeg(which is the standard bokmål), eg(standard nynorsk), i, e, æ. I won't get into samisk, because I don't speak nor understand any of the three(I think) saami languages that are spoken in Norway. This is not unique for the word "I", but this goes for a whole lot of words, and some parts even have their unique words, that will mean NOTHING to you, if you aren't from that particular part of the country. If I go to "Indre Sogn" and try to talk to people there and they do nothing to adapt their use of local words, even as a native, I will have a hard time understanding what they are trying to say. :D
