the bolders you see are called "eratics". They were transported on top of the ice during the last iceage. When the ice melted the bolders were droped and have been there ever since. You will find that these bolders have a differant geologic composition then the rock in the area where you find them.

those boulders had not entirely been tranported supraclacially... as many are well rounded ... hence, geomorphologically speaking, transport must be assumed subglacially as well as by massive fluvial transport underneath and in front of glaciation

Thanks for fantastic videos from my home country. For your information, we do not have sea lions in Norway, but we have different types of seals, especially in northern Norway. Some of them can be quite big. Occasionally, you might also see a walrus, but they live mostly further north.

Hi Trond, ahhh that's good to know -he was a big one for sure! .......must be all that fish available he's had plenty to eat. Northern Norway has a special place in my heart. I would never live that north because I would get crazy in the darkness in the winter. But those views are somehow relaxing and make me some kind of desire of visiting the area again and again.
@SeanandEmily
@SeanandEmily 9 ай бұрын
Yeas us too now! As you say it's such a special place indeed and it was very emotional reaching the top of Norway. It must be really difficult with the darkness in winter! but the Midnight sun in the summer must also be strange, we were a little bit too late to experience it this time. Hopefully we will return again soon.

Ahh good to see the National Trust is alive a well in Nordkapp, we have them here at the Giants Causeway ripping tourists off , when the rocks are free, they have been in court and are still at it. Very inspiring vlogs keep them coming. Robert & Carolyn, and Ellie.

they used to charge a LOT for parking at nordkapp but the goverment shut that down because they deem nature to be the property of the norwegian people and you shuldnt have to pay to enjoy it..... hence the insane entry fee to the visitor centre because that is a "service" 🤣
@SeanandEmily
@SeanandEmily 10 ай бұрын
Hi Robert & Carolyn, and Ellie! I didn't know that about the Giants Causeway (hopefully heading there next year on 'Heading West Tour') Fortunately people can go into the visitors center to go to the café and gift shop but it's just the museum/exhibition that costs -which in our view was not worth it. Although we are happy to support the upkeep of the road and sight though. Thanks so much for your kind and encouraging comments! Sean and Emily

When you asked about those boulders, you had already driven past some kilometers from thos most famous boulders, those Troll boulders. There was a sign at the road to a place called Trollholmsund, you should have stopped there to get an explanation about those troll boulders.
@SeanandEmily
@SeanandEmily 9 ай бұрын
Hi, i believe it's a bit of a hike to the Trollholmsundin, and if you had seen the previous episode we had had only 4 hours sleep the night before so were a bit tired and had some distance to cover that day hence we didn't stop to see them. We we more interested in how the big rocks by the beach got there, apparently they were deposited by glaciers.

Nice video and stories ;-) As for the reindeer, there are no wild reindeer in northern Norway, they are all tame and belongs to the Sami people. I think it is the same in Finland and Sweden. There are wild reindeer in Norway, but they are in the south, to the south of Trondheim. The reindeer around Røros are also tame. I love this area, I've been there many times.

I'm really looking forward to the next episode, when you enter my home country and your comments about its nature, forests, lakes etc. By the way, what are your thoughts about the new R1300GS, your next bike perhaps? 😄 Kind regards from Finland, Risto

Hi Risto, Thanks ever so much for your kind and encouraging words! We truly have had an amazing time and have enjoyed every minute of it. We have some great times in Finland (as you will see in the next few episodes). We haven't tested the new R1300 yet but from what i hear it's a great bike with more improvements. It does however feel smaller than i had hoped but perhaps the adventure version will be more what i hoped for. But for now we are so happy with shadow that the thought of replacing him has not entered our minds 😊 Thanks again for commenting and we hope to hear from you again about our Finland Videos. Hi Emily and Sean. Another fantastic video experience with you. Norway is so special in terms of Western Norway with its high mountains, fjords and waterfalls. Northern Norway with its pointed mountains straight down into the sea and not least reindeer that is everywhere. You really got to experience Norway. I have a question for Emily, how is holding the camera when you guys are driving and do you feel safe holding on with one hand? It must then hurt your arm over time, and you really manage to hold the camera so steady. Fantastic job Emily, and not least Sean who drives safely on Norwegian roads. Good trip onward to Finland
@SeanandEmily
@SeanandEmily 10 ай бұрын
Hi Trond, Thanks so much for your continued support and encouragement! Yeah the contrast in landscape and wildlife in Norway is spectacular and makes for a fantastic adventure! Even though we saw a lot we left feeling that there was so much more to discover. Emily does a great job of holding the camera, she uses the Go pole and yeah at the start of the trip Em's arm does start to get tired towards the end of the day! But she has found found some good techniques for wedging the camera pole into the seat to help with the strain. Thanks, it's important to respect the countries that we travel in and be sure to go at a pace that lets us truly take in the scenery whilst being as safe as can be (going to a race track every now and then is good to get the fast riding done lol) If you are interested in what equipment we use it can be found on our website as well as map of our tours, photography and our shop. Thanks as always for your comments and we hope you enjoy the rest of this series. Sean and Emily seanandemilytravels.com/equipment

@@SeanandEmily Hi Sean and Emily, thank you for keeping in touch. No offense I just thought it would be interesting to know. The porpoises are common in the Norwegian fjords.
