60 women carry out selection for Norway's only special forces unit for women, but only a handful are able to pass the grueling course. Strange English auto generated subtitles.

I think people should stop for a moment and understand how important a role these women could potentially play in the war on terror. ISIS tends to look at women as weak frail things fit only for mental and physical oppression. With a mindset like this it's quite difficult to consider even armed women a threat. Nothing good has ever come from underestimating an enemy.

This isn't the special force. This is training to perhaps become a special force soldier. After a year it's not sure they all pass on, or that all of them will choose to work in the army. What you see here are 19 year old girls trying to get into a hard force, but they won't be special force soldiers until they make the transition to become rangers 1 year later.

I'm a Finnish army conscript and during a 40km no food 36-hour full weight march with exercises and a 2 x 1-mile lap race before and after exercises, the losing team had to push a giant tractor tire for several more kilometers, and the losing team was the team with a woman on their team obviously. We outran them in the track race on the final lap because we whispered to each other and did a full sprint run and separated from their team over 100 meters and beat them, and after we slept 1 hour and woke up, she started crying and entirely gave up carrying her gear, backpack, vest and plates and her team had to carry it for her. So the Norwegian army doesn't want women to compete with men, so they separate them, which is good for their courage i think. Yeah these are some tough women, but i just don't support this. Women are not made for this, and most women are horrible under pressure compared to men, and we see it in the US police force. I do not want women to fight beside me on a battlefield like Ukraine. Women can weaken the force, and they weren't born for this.
@thesauce7783
@thesauce7783 3 ай бұрын
PS correction: It was over a 50* meter separation when we sprint ran ahead of their team to their surprise. Remembering the gun range distance, we separated a solid 50 meters from them in our tactical sprint run at the end of the race. One of our teammates vomited during the sprint. It was hard exercises and a race with plates and a vest. So of course their team lost because their team had a woman, and their team didn't even try to beat us, they just gave up while watching us sprint ahead.

Guys. Most of you butthurt whiners would never survive a day alone in the forest, fending for yourselves. 1. This is not admission for actual tier 1 special forces duty. 2. They are trained for supporting the special forces operators in areas where you need females for communicating with local women. These women need to able to fight, and this is why they have tough military education. Again, they DO NOT become special forces operators. 3. No your basic training was not tougher than this, unless you served in the special forces, which none of you have ever done. 4. Some people here believe they are just chilling in the woods, enjoying themselves. No they are out for weeks at a time with barely any sleep or food. The bar is actually set pretty high. The physical demands with regards to carrying is not the same as for men, quite obviously, because of how the female body is very different from a mans body.

Women cry, but it's not like men don't moan during training. Also you have to take into account that you're really only seeing a fraction of the training, Scandinavian special forces are extremely secretive, and so far journalists have only been able to have a quick peek. But, knowing Norway, this is more than a PR stunt, when these women become operational they will be very dangerous.

They show videos where they have been under heavy physical activity for a long time, so it is natural that they might not take ‘perfect’ push-ups or hang-ups as the recording is taken in the middle of the exercise- not in the beginning. Those girls screaming at the start were in a takeout were only the best would pass. Use some mind, and show them respect.

@simonellis4245
@simonellis4245 4 жыл бұрын
@Thor Goumundsen Hi Thor. I have been out of the British Army for nearly 15 years so its kind of boring to say "it was much harder in my time". When I joined in the 1980's and was posted to Germany the soldiers drank and smoked a lot and this definitely showed up with relatively lower standards of health and fitness especially among the older soldiers. However, young bodies are tough and resilient and we had quite a lot of time for sport and fitness. The Combat Fitness Test was something new in 1984 and a soldier was expected to march 8 miles in full kit, rifle and helmet in under 2 hours as a squad. This became a standard test across the army. This was relatively easy and I rarely saw anyone fall out unless they had an injury. This was followed by some simple exercises such as firemans lift over 100 metres, a water can carry and some lifting of ammo cans full of rocks onto a truck etc. Most units had a big run on a Monday morning, two gymnasium sessions, sports afternoons and further running. The Basic Fitness test was an individual, best effort run (in boots in the 1980's then training shoes in the 1990's) over 1.5 miles (I forget the exact times but I could do it in 9 minutes when I was younger). This slowly changed over the years to include as many sit ups or press ups that you could manage in 2 minutes. The timed run plus the sit ups/press ups were combined and, depending on your age, this was colour coded from green through to red. Failing any physical test was immediately followed by interview from the Sergeant Major, and remedial PT, until you could pass the test. Fail it again and you could expect a disciplinary interview and health check with Medical Officer. As the Army started accepting more women into the Regiments there was some "gender norming" i.e. the mens times were relaxed so that they were achievable by women. This made a lot of rough/tough men cross including myself at the time! But I think that attitude was common across the British Army. I met a lot of very good female runners who didn't find the Basic Fitness Test difficult but struggled with the 25kg of equipment plus helmet and rifle over 8 miles. It doesn't matter what you think about equality but the facts are simple - women often lack the physical strength, endurance and stupidity to carry heavy weight over rough terrain by day and night in all weathers with minimal sleep AND do it over and over again. Not sexist - just a fact. With grit and determination most people could pass the physical tests but could they do it every day for a month? There were lots of soldiers limping around camp with sore feet after the CFT so I think a true physical test would be a week of living rough, in poor weather and a daily march not just a one off event. I hope this helps.

Personally I really respect these women that try so hard. But in my opinion of how to run an armed forces with more cost efficiency and higher performance, I wouldn't try to spend millions of tax payer dollars to train so many women only to have a handful to pass the special forces program. I would triage those who aren't even fit enough in the first place and take only the very best women for the program and invest more on the men who excel greatly in fitness, combat experience, discipline etc..... Yes women are mentally strong but naturally they will be disadvantaged, when compared along a broad spectrum. I would allocate resources rather for women to fulfill mechanized roles like tank commander, driver, UAV pilot, artillery commander, support roles, signals, snipers/markswoman, fighter jet and helo pilots.

If this is what they carry into patrols/firefights then they must not be expecting to be out that long. Train how you fight/prepare for the worst case scenario. Even If that means bringing a few extra liters of water, 3 more magazines of 5.56 or even some extra batteries for your PRC. I'm shocked to read so many negative comments about it. The idea of having female special force is definitely smart because it makes easier to operate in Muslim countries since women in those countries are not allowed to speak male strangers. You can lose so much information in the battle fields because of it. Moreover, based on research, female soldiers have better marksmanship than their male counterparts, in battle fields, that saves lives. Many Muslim extremists will also try to avoid them because they believe they can't go to heaven if killed by females, and the enemies can also easily underestimate their capabilities because of their genders and make fatal mistakes. I just love this idea. Special forces like this will definitely shine in the future battle fields, especially in Muslim majority regions.

ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahha better marksmanship. how could you prove that? maybe a research about marksmanship on paper targets sure, maybe... but under stress in a warzone environment? how could you begin to prove that since the male/female ratio is so out of proportion. im not beeing negative BUUUUUUT there are just certain things man can do that woman cant and woman need accept that. we are not equal at all. that why you have male/female to start with. if we were truly equal there would be no man/woman concept to begin with. i do agree that woman can be usefull on the battlefield (like you said) but lets stick to that. im sorry, i truly am but i wont depend on a woman who weighs (let me be generous) 70kg (154lbs) MAX with 20kg (45lbs) of gear on to carry me of the battlefield wounded weighing 110kg (242lbs) with gear on. that and the fact that woman cant take a beating or be expossed to the elements the same as man and many more examples.

What normally happens with females like these is, they go in WITH males. The females can talk to Muslim women and find out things the male soldiers can't or wouldn't because Muslim women in the middle east won't talk to a stranger (male). It's very doubtful these women would ever be asked to undertake a mission by themselves (only females). They are there to augment the male SF units. It´s interesting to observe men competing with women and degrading their performances. I honestly don´t understand that mentality -it´s toxic. Why? Friendly banter and a little competition strengthens the bond, the morale and the overall performance in the teams - but toxic comments, constant dick comparison and arrogant boasting is foolish and destructive. A man that has to constantly prove himself, who shout´s the highest and boasts the most has the lowest self esteem. He is devaluing himself by that behavior and looses the respect from his teammates over time, if he keeps it up. Men and women don´t compete, because they don´t compare - we have strengths and weaknesses that a man hasn´t and vice versa. Learn to utilize women correctly and it will serve the entire of our militaries all over the world. Use them incorrectly and create a fractured and destabilized military that is less efficient and has less power. (A house divided can not stand - that is a Biblical fact.)
