@@johnbuggy9121 Actually don't know, it is all classified she says. Even the causalities are classified. According to what little she does say it was a great deal of "winning hearts and minds". Plus training Afghan forces. Whatever that means. Apparently she has also been to North Africa on missions. If I were to guess, I'd say that her being female might make her very well suited to to interrogations and strip searches of captured wife's of Taliban/IS leaders during operations. More like intelligence gathering than fighting, but who knows. Swedish SF forces have never been deployed to Irak, but are apparently deployed in Syria. Don't ask why the one and not the other, because I have no idea. Politics one assumes. They have also been in Bosnia/Jugoslavia in the 90s. All of this is done under the "EU/NATO-flag" of course. All allied countries have lost SF personnel there but I assume most of the direct fighting was done by Seals/SAS/Rangers/Marines (something like that). One would, however, imagine that assets like female SF operators with that *special* skill would be very protected. She says she misses it and has apparently lost colleagues there. I think we are going to see more women in these special circumstances in the future. They may not be as physically strong but can be mentally brutal. As we all know, difficult tasks are more about the mental part than the physical. From what I can tell she is a serious bad-ass. Cheers!

@@stefanconradsson I thought Sweden was neutral? Why on earth have they got SF operatives in Syria?
@stefanconradsson4 жыл бұрын
@@johnbuggy9121 Sweden is a weird country, though officially Neutral, they are a member of the EU and as such has military obligations towards the union. At the same time, most of the members of the EU are longstanding NATO members. Swedish armed forces regularly performs combat training with NATO units. It also has a several hundred years old unresolved fear of Russia (the last country it ever went to war with, and *lost* btw.), so there is no doubt on what side they are on. Their neutrality is a mirage. Didn't join the WWII since many of them were probably secretly Nazis. As for Syria .. just rumors .. nothing confirmed. My guess is that there are several hundred Swedish nationals that have joined the IS and that SF forces are there to gather intelligence and possibly take care of the problem there rather than in their home country. As for PAM .. well she certainly does not look battle hardened .. no thousand yard stare that you sometimes find in veterans. She has spoken vaguely about being part of raids to capture Taliban leaders where wives were present .. wives that sometimes wore suicide bombs/belts or weapons or intelligence under that quite extensive garment. (Locals wouldn't take kindly to white men strip searching their females) But who knows .. it is all classified. The only other Swedish SF operator that has given glimpses into that strange world of being Neutral, yet involved in conflicts overseas, is Erik Lewin who retired years ago and has worked for one of the numerous "security firms" (like Blackwater that hire former SF operators). He has never spoken about PAM though. As far as I can tell the Swedish SF operators have close ties with the British SAS and their Nordic counterparts (Danish and Norwegian SF operators). Perhaps they have joint missions in the middle east and north Africa to protect Europe. But this is pure speculation on my part. As I said earlier .. I think having women part of the military is clever, and for the very few that have the will-power to do it .. even in SF forces. It will never ever be a 50/50 split, not even remotely close .. but the few extraordinary women that can .. *should*. They add an extra tool to the force. It is a smart move. They usually have superior social skills, are excellent at languages and might have better tactical skills. PAM is the Swedish equivalent of a woman from Alaska (no not Sara Palin). She was born in the northern wilderness, loves the outdoors, climbing, skiing .. ice-bathing. Has been in the Army plus the Swedish equivalent of Airborne Rangers (??), then went to officers academy and then joined the Special Forces unit SIG which then was transmogrified in to the SOG (Special Operations Group). She is the actual thing. Cheers 🍺

They already did that. A few years ago they did two separate studies testing dismounted squads that were single gender and mixed in a number is scenarios. All CQC stuff. The results? The all male squad out performed the all female and mixed gender squad to such an extent, they blew then out of the water. The mixed gender group? Not even close and the all female squad was even worse. They even had an CNBC or ABC segment where a female marine was speaking on it and she said straight up female soldiers cannot compete on the same level as the males and cannot handle that life style. It was that bad. And that was just regular soldiers . Even in the regular military, there are female soldiers that can out run some males and do more push up cause they are just that fit. They can keep up in "A train" but when it comes to the real work. Combat, aggressiveness, force of action, etc, they are to soft, weak, and indecisive. It's that simple.

Right can I just assure everyone who finds this laughable, that these women are special forces, this isn't just a PR stunt for the sake of political correctness. They're based on the Norwegian and Danish Huntsman Corps, which is basically the same as the US Rangers. There are of course certain requirements which women cannot meet, but these are the only aspects of the training which are altered. They run as far and are as sleepdeprived as the huntsmen during training, and they go through the infamous hell week. Trust me lads, these women could easily kill us.

True! But you know, people who usually has absolutely no military experience or comprehension about the various roles there is to fulfill, both in combat and SF operations in general, is suddenly experts in how women can't be soldiers and especially not SOF.... It's usually the same idiots who can't comprehend why feminists talks about the patriarchy still being a factor in this day and age! Luckily, most of these self appointed "badass experts" almost never have what it takes to serve their country - so we just have to live with them bashing things on Social Media that they don't understand, (and probably feels a bit threathened by - i get it must be hard for them seeing that those who has served their country has immensely more respect for these women than we have for those "keyboard warriors")

@@Foolishdog5888 I think it's important you take notice and address the standards required for the soldier before you address the gender. For instance the Danish army does not keep female soldiers from serving in infantry, but they also don't go easy on them by lowering requirements. If a female soldier wants to serve in active war she must be able to deadlift 80kgs in full gear, because that's how much a dead or wounded soldier weighs. If she can do this, and meet all other requirements which are the same as those of the men, then I really don't see how you can argue she's worth less or contributes less than a man.
@Foolishdog58885 жыл бұрын
Kristian Brandt the standards required in the USA are the same for men n women bro n yes gender matters in 0311 infantry lol accommodations in health and basic women needs are met it works with cohesion witch can make n break a unit in Ranger School they were saying women were allowed to retake courses with additional training at fort Bragg if that’s true it’s not ok the goal is to incorporate women without lowering requirements

Not necessarily, there are stronger than average women and being lighter on average isn't exactly a bad thing if you are traveling long distances while carrying stuff.
@rustyworld23655 жыл бұрын
@O R it's not 0%. If we're talking about strength in terms of lifting heavy things and putting them down again then you'd be right in most cases. But women who invest time into exercise can generally have far better endurance when it comes to body weight manoeuvres or constant strain because their mass to strength ratio is better. Women can get stronger without getting heavier, the same can't be said for men. This is what was told by a man who served in the military and runs PT on a regular basis.
@rustyworld23655 жыл бұрын
@O R if you're talking about untrained people then you're right. I'm talking about people who train, there is a difference. My point is the extra 26lbs of skeletal mass that men have doesn't matter when power lifting because it's so fast but if it was a constant thing what could be five reps in ten seconds might become four and the gap increases as time goes on. This doesn't matter so much for stuff like pushups where men out perform women on average because of the strength they have as a default setting (its different for people with proper training) but in a situp test (which should be higher for women trying to join than men because that's where most of thier control comes from, if they're so hell bent on playing with the requirements to start with) women constantly outperform men because the upper body is small and women can go longer without fatiguing, same applies with body or low-middle weight squats because that's we're most of the lean muscle is. journals.lww.com/acsm-msse/Fulltext/2016/11000/The_Relevance_of_Sex_Differences_in_Performance.23.aspx This explains it better than I can. Not that this should really be an argument, individuals are individuals not products of thier gender and nothing else. Some men can't build muscle for the life of them and some women can get swole, averages don't account for everyone. I would like to add that your comment about the man who took PT for a mixed gender cadet unit that I used to be in was extremely presumptuous and doesn't reflect well on your attitude towards others. Also if you want to sleep better at night ukdefencejournal.org.uk/army-details-new-gender-free-physical-fitness-standards-for-combat-roles/
@rustyworld23655 жыл бұрын
@O R I wasn't claiming that they are superior. Trained men exel in explosive strength and average Joe's normally exel at all tests with the expeption of situp tests. However, the last part of what your saying is just incorrect. I work in a bar for people who are or used to be in the forces and I go to the gym with many of them, the women can outperform some of the men, not the magority but a significant number. There were 6 women who trekked across Antarctica (1,700km) with 80kg sledge, women like Katie sandwina who could lift a man with one arm before steroids, female martial artists like Christina Bannon-Rodrigues who makes up for reduced muscle mass through endurance and full body control and ended up winning three gold medals. Now I don't know what drugs you have to be on to think you could do these things but let me be the one to tell you that you can't. I'm not claiming averages are wrong but some methodologies and the refusal of some people to acknowledge exceptions is annoying at best.
@rustyworld23655 жыл бұрын
@O R And I've seen it with my own eyes, I go to gym with these people, I was in a cadet unit and I stay in touch with many active service members both male and female. Reassess what you choose to look at. First you say 5-8%, then 0%, then 0.00000001%, the 10%. Make up your mind. If you want this conversation to be over you can end it, I will continue to reply for as long as you continue to be an ass.

In addition there are required tests in 10 kilograms (22 lb) medicine ball throw, standing long jump, and 3000-meter run which will not disqualify, but do count towards selection. I'm seeing a lot of playstation veterans commenting and critiqueing here. As a male 10 year senior specialist combat medic veteran of the Norwegian Armed Forces and ISAF, allow me to clarify some things for you COD heroes, mysoginist grandpa's, and others who thinks knowing about SOF's are cool, but are apparantly scared of cooties. I was paired for 3 years of my service with a female 2nd Medic in my team, and as such she was my battlebuddy, and we relied on eachother. My consistent weight of 95 Kgs (approx 120kg with gear), she could lift and carry no problem, and she did so routinely in training. I do not need to defend her honor, as she would very easily disarm you, kick your ass, and restrain you all on her own. You guys comment a lot about the soldier's comment about "might not be able to drag the men out". Let me put this into the same context as its commonly understood by our female soldiers. They KNOW that their bodies are physically weaker than mens bodies on average. They know what muscles are weaker, what their limitations are, and they train extra to make up for it. She follows with "But if we are taken in at(if we pass) the same tests as the men, then they shouldnt have any issues." These tests she's referring to include things like fighting their way out of a car, beating up 2 hand to hand combat instructors assistants, wrestling a third one to the ground and restraining them, then picking up a minimum 80kg man in combat gear,carrying them 70m to cover, then completing CQC firing and reload maneuvers on primary and secondary weapons within a time limit that is the same standard for men and women. There's also some mockery in comments about clearing fences and speed of combat manouvers. I was at this exact range many many times through my career, and many of them in winter. You are NOT allowed to sprint and dive like it's a paintballgame at this range during poor weather and winter during live fire exercises. This is because this is a 3d urban combat simulation range where they practice complicated fire drills, and move ahead and paralell to eachother, clear houses, cross roads and more all while firing live rounds. During live rounds drills, NOBODY goes John Wick, you will get stomped and sent off the range if you do. The full speed movement drills which these soldiers also do, are done with simulation rounds/blanks, as is standard for both men and women. The footage you see from the hand-to-hand combat training is from selection, and the soldiers performing are within their first month of service. Now that this has been said, you're all welcome to return to COD:Black Ops with no excuse for your ignorance and misogyny, and know that I as a veteran think you're a bratty little f.
