Please, please, get advice from your guidance counselor, ect, to help you navigate your escape once you are of age. Start cultivating healthy relationships on the outside of the cult ( you probably have). Make your education a major priority. Save and make as much money as you can. Be CAREFUL NOT TO GET PULLED INTO A DESTRUCTIVE CULT. I would suggest getting a therapist to help with depression anxiety that you may suffer once you totally leave. Being PREPARED will give you a HUGE ADVANTAGE. Just know you are extremely fortunate to have figured this out & you are so close to REAL FREEDOM. GOOD FOR YOU.!!!!!❤.

I am very impressed with the government of Norway, having such a clear understanding of the nuance of disfellow shipping. It seems as if they are not missing anything at all, and the watchtower is not fooling them.

This is because the ex jws in Norway have done a very thorough job in explaining this to them and also testifying in court about how they are treated, and then they got to see both disfellowshipped ones or those who left on their own accord, and they saw that they were treated the same. The second court case also had so much testimony that there was no way the court could not see what was going on. The irony is that the jws don’t understand that their arguments are bogus and so easy to see through. They think the way they have gaslit and fooled their members with words will work with the courts. But thankfully it did not. I for one am so proud to be part of the Norwegian ex jw community and have had the chance to be in court in the first court case. It is very encouraging to see all this happen and how what has happened in little Norway has had such effects on the religion as a whole

I've been through the Norwegian court system. Trust me when I say, Watchtower will never win unless they comply. And in the future, if there is evidence they are sneakily breaching compliance the ramifications are heavy. Norway don't play. They only come for you when they know there's no way you're getting out of the squeeze. It's not like the U.S. where people randomly sue to intimidate others. In Norway, a case only goes to court when you are really guilty. Otherwise, it would have been settled already at the State Administrator level. Watchtower is never getting scot free until they bow. And when they do, it'll open them up to numerous lawsuits of abuse by former members who have documentation of having sought therapy because of being expelled. You'll have video content for years. I love this.

One of my best friends growing up never got df'd like i did, because he threatened the elders' lives. He was guilty of much worse stuff than i did but i didn't care if i got df'd, i knew my family wouldn't change anything and i had already made a lot of friends so i laughed at the judicial hearing and even brought another friend with me who they had df'd a few years before me. My other friend who didn't get df'd, his parents still shunned him. Some years later he was engaged to a great girl, had a great job, and then one day blew his brains out. JWs will practice shunning even if someone isn't formally df'd and people take their lives over it. It would be awesome if the new attorney general of the USA investigate Watchtower like Norway has.

Well, the individual to whom you refer will not become attorney general after all as he has withdrawn his name from consideration. It’s just as well because, given the type of activities with which he himself is said to have been involved over the years, had he not been a politician and instead been one of Jehovah’s witnesses, he very easily could have been an appointed servant in one of the units of the Pensacola Congregation. Consequently, it seems highly unlikely that he would have appointed a special prosecutor to investigate the Society. People of that ilk tend to stick together. The new nominee, also from Florida, is equally unlikely to make any headway with the Society as she’s a woman. And, we all know what the Society has said about women! The only instance of which I’m aware that the Society has made any changes to policy in response to a woman is with regard to the contribution arrangement effective April 1, 1990. That was in response to the majority opinion written by Associate Justice Sandra Day O’Connor in the “Swaggart” case, in which the Society filed an amicus curiae brief in behalf of Jimmy Swaggart. Oh, yes! That case is replete with enjoyable ironies!

My sister was 19 when she was thrown out of the house because she was having a relationship with a boy. Literally thrown. With her clothes shoved out the door after her. The boy in question was not a baptized JW but his family were around the religion and he went to meetings. He wasn't the best guy, in my parent's defense, I do want to make that clear. BUT. He did try and have a respectful discourse with our parents which they refused. Their response was, to a 19 year old girl, "if you want him, have him" and they slammed the door behind her. I was 13 looking on in confusion. To this day, my sister's trauma does not allow her to remember the details of that event but it's one of the strongest memories I hold.

I'm 35 years old. I got disfellowshipped back in 2015 it is really painful and does have a whole lot of affect on me and other people who have been disfellowshipped especially emotionally, and mentally. But I'm lucky that my mom who is still in the organization still keeps in contact with me. She has been a gem . When my kids and I go visit we visit for a good amount of time. A friend of mine who was a Witness recently got disfellowshipped and she was texting my sister and I asking how to navigate this massive change and now we hangout. The shunning policy is ridiculous and I hope eventually this practice will be completely banned. Hey at least the governing body can know what it feels like to get banned and get something taken away from them like they did with tons and families. But as a mom of 2 young kids I'm happy my children don't have to be raised in that organization. As much as shunning hurts I'm glad I'm out and have way more support and genuine friends more than I did in the congregation. Greetings to you Wally. Love your content. 😊

Hello Wally, when I dissasociated myself from JW'S CULT, I was still in my home/family and was shunned even my little sister was traumatized because she wasn't allowed to talk to me. Shunning is happening at homes 🏡 😳... it was difficult for me and her, I was the only one who was able to help her with her school homework... etc...,etcetera!!!

Thanks for sharing this news. Go Norway - the right to follow a religion without discrimination; and the equal right to leave a religion without punitive effects. Nothing Norway did stopped JWs meeting and worshipping; nor 'the preaching work'. Not all religions are registered - eg I believe Mormons chose not to be (maybe over the secret temple stuff and informed consent ??) The loss of the subsidy was a chunk of money; but the level of legal appeals and tweaks to policy suggests a concern beyond just that cheque...

I was baptized as a JW at 13 years old 40 years ago. I am a prime example of how ridiculous it is to expect someone as I was pressured personally to get baptized at such a young age to then deal with those consequences of their actions by leaving for the remainder of their lives. Everyone that I knew was a Jehovah's Witness as we all know we were forbidden to have "worldly"Friends or associates unless it was regarding an emergency or work, and even then we were to set ourselves apart and not be too friendly. Here I am 40 years later, with children, haven't been born into my family that are now grown-ups with children of their own, that I've never met all because of JW preaching, rules, and regulations that they are now Changing to stay relevant and seem less strict knowing that if they don't, they will soon no longer exist because with today's technologies, you are able to see how much of a cult the JW organization actually is.

I was raised strict Catholic and my father disinherited me publicly at a businessman’s breakfast when I had a pregnancy out of marriage. I became a jw but didn’t realize how bad this gets in the jw world because I was considered poor association due to being a single Mother and got held at arms length the whole time anyway. I’m glad watchtower got their ass handed to them for this shady heartbreaking practice. They’ll find a way around it tho just like they did with me. This cult create narcissists like a baker puts out muffins on Sunday morning.. just think about that dynamic. All the while you're growing up seeing people shunned and thrown away like garbage if they don't go along to get along or even ask the wrong questions. So when you're even a little kid you're pretending to be good according to their standards and you don't really feel it and you're just being a cookie cutter fit in with everybody else playing pretend because you don't want to lose everything you love in life. Just think about all the skeletons that people hide in their closets just to avoid shunning. And these things eat away at your soul because you know you got to keep them to yourself. You end up this Halo fake human being with all this dirty laundry and all this shame. And isn't that what it comes down to? All that shame just turned you into an actor who's not a genuine friend but a conditional friend and family and friends are all fake because you have to play the game. It is a unique and awful trauma. Even God didn't hold a gun to somebody's head and forced them to be his friends. And from the viewpoint of a young person how is holding a gun to their head and shunning different?

As a born in JW I know about this shunning practice my older brother got D’fd I knew not to get baptized but I fell into the 1975 crap and got baptized 3 years later I disassociate never was D’fd or Reproved till today I’m shunned because WT label me as an Apostate go figure ….Lol 🤔🤣

I've been pomo fur over 15 years and still shunned...... They won't pick up a single phone call or text message from me....... But I'll be damned If they ever need help they call and text me immediately...... That's one of the subclosets to that arrangement that no one talks about is the religion is completely fine with encouraging their people to use you for what you can give them but then go right back to shunning you

I just read the weirdest post in an ex-JW group about there being no dogs in paradise, anyone else ever heard of something like that? They referred to "dogs being the worst" to Muslims. I recall seeing recent illustrations of the police state they call paradise, where a man in khaki pants walks a dog on a leash. Then again, might just be a person of less... I was raised in that religion. My mother insisted that I not date at 16. "No girlfriends." Guys were okay to hang with. The society even imposed that rule from the platform. I noticed in Highschool the Witnesses were dating some were sneaking and some weren't. Of course this messed me up later psychologically. Now I did get my share of women later I was a late bloomer. But at 68 years old and no children- they want me to die alone and depend on them only if I got so many hours in the field service. Most of the rules the Witnesses come up with are not in the Bible and that's why they get into so much trouble legally.

I hope this causes a snowball effect. I hope more governments breathe down the Governing Body's neck and put them under scrutiny. Also, I hope more exJWs are encourage to be more active against Watch Tower and maybe go through the legal process themselves. I was never a Jehovah's Witness, but I don't have to be to know this cult caused real harm to real people. I hope we are in the last days of the last days of the Jehovah's Witnesses.
