Norwegian Cruise Line JULY 2024 BLISS- Alaska

I was on the Bliss 7/27/24-8/3/24 Alaskan cruise and I sanitized every handle in the room upon check in. I also cleaned the toilet flusher handle. 😂 We were so fortunate to have beautiful weather and were able to go on a helicopter tour to the glacier, seaplane ride, explorer boat from the ship to the forges and viewed the glaciers, rode the red cable car up a mountain in Icey Straight, and a horse drawn trolly ride in BC. We also waited until the 3rd day to get the thermal spa package because it was quite a bit cheaper. The Jersey Boys was great, so was the ICONS show! Bingo and Deal or NODEAL was a bit expensive but I played anyway since I was on vacation. I had a great time. Favorite Specialty Dinner was La Bistro and least favorite was Tappanyaki (sp) the steak was overcooked and dry.. If you have hearing sensitivity avoid Tappanyaki because they do a lot of banging with tongs and such. It’s a lot louder in person than in this video. All in all, it was wonderful.

@@lisac4100 Thanks for sharing. You can see in the video my husband sanitized everything. He was at the hair drying when I was recording 😂. That’s prob why we didn’t get sick. Sound like you had a great time! Your trip was the week after we got back!

We went on an Alaskan cruise some years ago, and La Bistro was my absolute fave! The manager came over & was helping serve us, and he was the best smelling man of all time! 😂 I wish i knew what he was wearing so we could get his cologne for my husband! We are on the Bliss in April to Alaska, and I already know we are going to eat there again! Yummy! ♡

I just got off the bliss today, 7 day cruise to Alaska.. I loved it but I got home with full blown Covid, my sister also tested positive. Like you mentioned people were touching everything with their hand's and not washing when entering the cafe. I noticed alot of people on the 5th day coughing and with runny noses . The food was always luke warm at the garden Cafe and didn't seem to go together. The shows were amazing, Jersey Boys was great, the staff was amazing. I definitely took advantage of the drink package, Sugar cane mojito bar was a must do if you get the drink package. The views were amazing and we went on excursions every day. We had an amazing time.. I would recommend sanitizing your room yourself when you first get there. The balcony was so worth the extra $. We did go to the French and Steak House restaurants they were average, the French onion soup was delicious. I would definitely go on the bliss again just sanitize with lysol I guess..😂 But like I said it was an amazing cruise.

@@sandrawiles7009 Glad you had an awesome time! Out of the 15people that went, 5 got Covid in our group. Luckily it was at the tail end and not severe. Glad my husband sanitized the room right away. I wish the door was automatic, having to touch it to open does not help at all. I forgot to add that when writing them their review. We tried mainly to eat at the dine in restaurants. Too bad I’m allergic to alcohol so didn’t try drink package. Thanks for sharing your trip!

My clearest memory from my Alaska cruise was hanging out on our balcony during the inside passage. Mountains! Eagles! A WHALE! Porpoises! I leaned forward to see if anybody else on my side of the ship was enjoying the view. Nope. Just me. At the casino or buffet I suppose. 🫤

@@warrenj3204 I wish we saw more! When we were at my sis room with balcony, she would run our screaming whale, whale and she felt bad when everyone else ran to look and they disappeared 😂 I saw lots of people at Observation deck with binoculars like us!

@@SandyRoyles Thank you! Weather was actually good overall for us. You definitely need a light sweater and long sleeves. Especially for when you are on the ship during Icy strait and Ketchikan. It’s cold out there at night. My husband wore shorts with long sleeve shirt during all the excursions and was fine. Rain jacket is must. Luckily we only had one rainy day but they say you usually get more rain. Even thought temp said 59F, it felt like 65 because of the sun.

When youre at the buffet- you used the tongs to open the lids - but are people touching the lid with their hand? The tongs touch the handle then your food - i don't trust people and whether they wash hands.

@@MomsTravelTeam That’s true. I did not think of that. Thanks for pointing that out. Have to make sure not to do that next time. That’s the bad thing about buffet, we don’t know what people actually wash their hands/etc.

You mentioned in the beginning of the video that you can drop off luggage early, so you don't have to get on the ship immediately after dropping off your bag? I was wanting to explore Seattle before getting on the ship but wasn't sure what to do with my bags that morning

@@candaceb7660 yes that’s correct. You can drop off all luggage’s as early as 8am. You do not need to get on ship immediately. Just make sure you keep your ID/passport with you for the check in process later. You can go explore until your check in time!

Is the local open 24hrs? I watched another video on the bliss and there were no 24hr restaurants. 😢 Im not sure which is accurate???

@@jennylivingston1693 The Local Bar is open 24/7. The restaurant part opens Breakfast: 6-1130 Lunch: 12-5 Dinner: 5-1030 Snack: 1030-330am I’m not sure what is “snack” food? Hope this helps.

@@warrenj3204 No shows unfortunately. Everything happens so fast and we did not look at schedule good enough. We did play deal or no deal. Of course we won a chance to win $5000 with raffle tickets. Didn’t realize we had to go play bingo and needed to wait 2 games in before they even would run raffle part. I see how they did that.

Chicken hearts are okay enough. Chewy sometimes. Chicken livers cooked Asian style, fast and hot, are delicious! Braised chicken livers American style are nasty. I love fried chicken gizzards! Again, cooked fast and hot. Not braised forever which some people do.

@@minnesotaphatfoodies Well not "braised" exactly. Cooked usually within 10-15 minutes. But I've had chicken livers hibachi style cooked in less than a minute and they're great. Anything is better than beef liver though. Gosh that stuff is awful. Putrid.

@@NeuroticLobster I know.. I know.. so hard to eat at port when boat is all inclusive. But had to try it. Good experience. Crab had unique sweet taste to it.
