I just got off this cruise last week! Even being blind, it was a blast! So many interesting sounds to hear, things to smell, and objects to touch!
@nedmarc Жыл бұрын
@Daniel - On one of our cruises many years ago, a blind person was at our assigned table and we learned so much from her. One thing you left out was that there are new things to eat and drink (even non-alcoholic). Keep enjoying traveling!

Great video. I'm planning to go in a couple of months but my question is, after you arrive to Seward, how do you get back to Vancouver? I would appreciate any info on this. Thank you.
@nedmarc11 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and your kind words. After Seward, we continued on to Anchorage and beyond. Going to Anchorage may be the best way to get back to Vancouver or your home city. The trains and busses go to Anchorage. Here is our video of the train ride from Seward to Anchorage. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5eWl4uqmbCjkJIsi=97C2VZUnrBXq0CV2

I went on this cruise over this summer, and it was the best. So much to do, so much to see, even on days that didn’t have shore excursions. The food was delicious, and if you are planning on going, definitely go to the Hibachi place one night!

Yes, the Hibachi was a wonderful start to meet nice people we'd see throughout the cruise. Glad you had fun, too! Thanks for watching.

Thanks for the great video! I’m thinking of taking my mom in July this year. She is mobility challenged. Can walk a decent amount, but needs lot of breaks and it needs to be stable walking. Can she enjoy a lot from the ship itself, without doing some of the more challenging excursions?
@nedmarc6 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and your kind words. For your mother, we recommend asking NCL and more recent travelers, just to be sure.

Thank you for sharing! I would like to know the name of the excursion where you hike to the waterfall. Thanks.
@nedmarc2 жыл бұрын
This was Mendenhall Glacier and Nugget Falls. We did it ourselves, but there was an excursion. We didn't know how much time they would give us and if we could walk to and from the welcome center to falls on an excursion. Thanks for watching.

Hi! I'm doing this same cruise in June 2023. Do you think it matters if you're on portside or starboard side as far as being underway and seeing stuff? And also how warm of a coat did you need? I live in South Florida and don't really have one so I need to buy something and wasn't sure how heavy to go. Thank you so much for this great video!
@nedmarc Жыл бұрын
It gets cold, especially near the glaciers. It was frigid walking by Nugget Falls and Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau. We needed another layer, for sure. We think we were in wool sweaters and puffy coats. So, yes, pack warm clothes, but shorts too for warmer days. Mostly we wore jeans and long sleeves. The heaviness is less important than warmth of each layer and wind protection. As for the side of the ship for your cabin, we enjoyed being on the starboard side, but we think both sides may work.

Thanks for the kind words, too.

Oh perfect! Thank you for your advice. 😃
@nedmarc Жыл бұрын
Don't forget hats, too. Given your normal climate, I don't expect you'll be in shorts, much, if at all. We also availed ourselves of the shipboard laundry service. They had a deal day where we could fill a small paper bag and get the contents done for $20. We did get some jeans and shirts freshened. Not cheap, but convenient.

Here is a more extended video of our visit to the Mendenhall Glacier. It was blasting wet, cold air off the waterfall and glacier. It was worth it! kzbin.info/www/bejne/rIGuk5l9rNdrepY

iPhones and Canons and an underwater Nikon (handy in the rain). Nothing too fancy.
