The d in the middle of "Lundehund" is not silent. I am impressed that the presenter actually try to mute the d in the "nd"- combinations, but for this particular word "Lund" even tho the d is silent when it is a stand alone word, the d is pronounced when "lund" appears in a composite word. But interestingly, the other word "hund" will (in most dialects) keep its silent d, even in composite words, like "hundebur". So i totally get the confusion. I think the leading hypothesis is that we are better at simplifying more popular words, hence "hund" (dog) gets a simplified pronunciation.

1. Varanger is not in Russia but in Finnmark, Norway. 2. The Varanger dog is anatomically closer to the lapphund than the Lundehund. The only thing it shares with the Varanger dog is the lack of the second premolars. 3. They are fetchers, not hunters. 4. You forgot to mention that they are also `soft-mouth`. They used to pick Lunde-eggs and bring them back to their handler/owner without breaking them. PS. Soft mouth doesnt mean that they cant bite hard, its just that they have the capacity to carry prey etc. carefully. Most retrievers are so called soft mouth because they where bred to fetch birds.

Love the video! I LOVE the breed! They are so easily trained in a positive way and they are sooo cuddly! Frøya has no prey drive or any symptoms of disease so she is just such a little happy pill! She gets along with children, dogs, cats and everything we let her meet! My favourite dogbreed without any doubt! ❤️

Might be an ideal dog of not for Ludehund syndrome.Their appearance and physical characteristics as well as their lively disposition make them highly appealing. I have a Norwegian Elkhound, another breed rarely seen in the US, that is a bit bigger but an active and affectionate companion who loves everybody and the four I have had over the years think they were/are heating pads.

I have a lundehund, I'm Norwegian, and I'm sorry to say that some of your info is either wrong or lacking. Most importantly, you only mention the extra toes on the front feet. They have the same extra toes on their hind feet, for a total of 24 toes. About grooming, you're way off. They never need cutting, and the only shedding they do, are the twice a year throwings. Their ears are pointy, and therefore rarely need attention. They are not bred for prey drive, they are apporting dogs. Thats why they lack premolars, to carry birds softly without harming or killing them. Not all are affected by stomach issues, and they rarely have HD/AD, PL or eye problems. You need better info when you make a video, and claim it's filled with facts.

I am also a lundehund owner like Lene, and I fully agree with her here. Lots of good info in this video but some of the info is totally off or simply too narrowed down, just like Lene explains here. I don’t know how Dogs wiz have collected the info they are presenting in this video, but I’m sure the Norwegian lundehund club gladly would answer any questions regarding our loving lundehunds ❤️

Great video but you need to get your facts checked. Please dont spread false information, the lundehund syndrom (also called IL) is not a big thing, I have had my queen for 9 years and never had any problems, I dont even know of any dogs with IL. You do not need to groom weekly, the shed their hair once or twice a year and that's it, in between there are no hairloss.
