Oh my, yes. Super cuddly and cute but so incredibly, adorably dumb. If you’ve ever had a toddler, crayon in hand, staring at a ‘beautiful’ scribble on your freshly painted white wall, turn and look up at you all “what do you mean you don’t like it” you know the base personality of every Samoyed ever.

I have had 40 years of Samoyed husky's. something not stated. males shed once a year, and females shed twice a year. they are super lovable dog's (they tend to love everyone willing to pet them). also, you don't own a Sam, they tend to own you. Sam's love to play their whole lives. also if your sam gets muddy, just let them dry off outside. their coat has natural oils that shed dirt when they are dry, so the dirt just falls off and they tend to be nice and bright white again (but if they get really dirty, especially fine dirt from tunneling, they need to be washed and groomed) the females tend to weigh 45 lbs. I had my Female Sam "Destiny" pass away in my arms a few years back from breast cancer and we were very close, and it tore my heart out. I'm a Disabled US Army Veteran living on army disability pay (which is not much) so I have not been able to afford another Sam (Young Female) which has been very hard (not having a sam around to keep me active affects my health as well as causing depression). one other point about Sam's. they are Very social animals and need human contact as much as possible. so please don't tie them up in the backyard and ignore them. if they are in your home full time (which I recommend) you get to see their personality, you can see when they are happy, and you can see when they are sad (dogs can get depressed too). Sam's will also walk up to you when THEY want to be pet or want a little attention (which is a lot.. lol) My Destiny was a little Diva when she went with me in the CAR (trust me, they know they are cute and pretty, and use that to their advantage to be pet by everyone) when she passed I had her cremated, and her ashes will be buried with me when I pass. that's how much she meant to me. they are truly special dog's. Oh, and if they are ignoring you because they are interested in something, I found two magic words for Sam's. 1. if you say "COME" they tend to view that as come here when you are ready. But if you say "Come.. NOW!" they tend to think "oh, come over to me now" 2. the best magic Sammy word is used when they are focused on something other than you (not listening), and that word is "HEY!". Both words need to be said like you mean it. loud and sharp. one final thing, Sam's that are sled dog's (super high energy) and sam's that are house dogs (more mellow) act completely different. there you go a quick 40+ year primer of sammys from my 52 years. any questions, just ask.

thank you for the kind words. My family has always had a special connection with Dog's (especially Sam's), and we always had one and almost always a Sam (7 in total). in my lifetime I have never been without a dog for so long as I currently have. I still hope I somehow will be able to get one last young female Sam and train her as a service dog for me, but I have not even seen another Sam in 7 years (after my destiny died in my arms on my birthday). Destiny was actually born in NSW Australia, and I live in Wisconsin, USA. Samoyeds make life truly special. my destiny refused to let me sware, or raise my voice at the TV. she could sense when I didn't feel well, and would always check on me. in the end, our connection with each other was spooky. I could be watching TV in my chair and she could be sleeping on the couch, and all I needed to do was just pan my eye's over to look at her without any movement of my body, and she would instantly wake up open her eyes and look at me. I never found out how she knew to wake up and look right at me (also without moving) she just seemed to be my four-footed sole mate, and our connection to each other was at a level I had never seen before, and I miss her every minute of the day. at the time, I adopted her and saved her, now I'm the one that needs to be saved. will it happen? I really don't think so, but it's in God's hands. it's no mistake that dogs are God spelled backward because they are truly gifts, and the truly special ones are 4-footed fuzzy miracles that steal our heart, and then break it when they pass.

@@garygraham4959 I have heard - but not verified - that many large cities have Samoyed societies that find new homes for the breed. Because they are very independent there is a subset of buyers who can't handle them. It might be worth it to scan the Internet for Samoyed societies, Craig's lists, shelters, etc. Samoyed.org includes a section on rescues nationally. They are incredibly sweet, loving dogs. I wish you luck.

Years ago, I worked with a fellow who had two Samoyeds. They were the sweetest dogs I've ever met. I'd sit down on some steps, and they would sit down next to me, one on each side, and would lean on me, loving the closeness. Of course, I always made a fuss over them every time I saw them, so they really liked me. lol! Wonderful, loving dogs!

Soley they shed none stop, my house no matter how often you cleaned would have white tumbleweed balls of hair floating around the floors. As far a living in California I don't know, I would contact local breeders to find out more. I live in NB Canada and my dogs loved the snow. I would shovel my deck of snow but leave one corn piled high, my male would just lay on it. When it would start snowing I would call him inside, I would get a look from him, then he would just put his head back down. Loved it outside more than being inside. One of the last pictures I got of him he was laying out in a snowstorm with an inch of snow covering his entire body.

I have a Samoyed that’s 10 years old. She was super active and went with my wife and I everywhere. About 3 years ago she tore her cruciate, (ACL), and was extremely limited to what she could do. I wanted to tell you guys about this as it’s life changing for the dog. The first month, we carried her up and down the stairs, and she’d wimper to get up after a nap. We tried glucosamine, which didn’t do too much at all. We turned to cbd oil, which has literally been a life saver. We give her a certain amount of drops a day with a small amount of water in the morning, and she’s set. She can now walk for about 20 mins, run, play fetch, and go up and down stairs as she pleases. We went from having a normal active dog, to a dog that was almost immobile, to a fairly active dog again. Anyway, long live the Sammies!!

Samoyeds are known for being inherently beautiful. They might be the most beautiful breed in the world (thus expensive). They are also very sensitive and get easily attached making them not easy pets, even though they are so calm and friendly (one of the least aggressive breeds in the world) and need constant grooming. Dont expect a dog to be left to sleep outside or alone for long time spans. If you want a Samoyed, be prepared to really love it. It certainly will love you.

I owned 3 in my life. I used to breed one of them, just twice. My favorite breed!! After I lost my last one, Cody, I was visiting my mom out of state a lot. I now own a pomeranian, I could take on the plane. She is a mini samoyed, same smile and black around the mouth and eyes. I never had a 9lb dog before, I love her so much. Thanks for the video that brought back beautiful memories

My AST girl has a Samoyed admirer :) They met when he (The samoyed) was just a Little puppy. Ever since then, Molly (my dog) has been like a mother figure to him, it's so cute. The owner says that he knows if we are Walking the same route even tho we are 3 miles ahead of them because he get so excited lol. I find that kinda funny and adorable. Samoyeds are awesome!

This is a really beautiful portrayal of this breed, and it covers aspects I don't see much in videos (like the sledding and the high-pitched barks). Thank you for making this! I've had the privilege to grow up with a strong-willed but well-trained Samoyed who lived to be 14. It's always a pleasure to see videos of these beautiful and intelligent creatures. The only aspect that I would have added is their way of playing (which they can't do without barking and growling).

I have had two Sammies . My first was was my trail riding buddy for most of her 16 years. I rode almost daily on the wood roads, trails and dirt roads around my house for about 6 hrs a day. Kim stayed right up and was in wonderful health until the end. Max, my next Sam, lived to be 12 and was a super sweet, friendly boy. They really are a wonderful family dog and I would have another if I was more active and in better shape. I'm thinking of an American Eskimo. They are smart and a beautiful edition of the Spitz type breeds.....a lot smaller and less fur! The Eskimo is active, but is a Sam downsized.

Oh, what gorgeous babies. Just big soppy cuddlepuffs. So sweet. And don't they love their cuddles. That one you were holding - the more head scratches, the soppier and more gooey the expression. So adorable. And Hero was loving his grooming. Such a good boy! Samoyed is one of my favourite breeds - that smile, those pretty ears, and all that floof! Simply gorgeous.

I had a Samoyed for almost 11years, raised him from a puppy. He was a beautiful guy, lots of energy, dug up the backyard, shed like crazy but we loved him and we really missed him when he passed away. He died of colon cancer. Would love to have another one but in Texas it gets too hot for them and he got heat rash on his belly every summer. We took him to the beach in summer because he loved to swim and the salt water helped his heat rash heal. He loved winter best and would lay out in the middle of the backyard in the sleet, curled up with his tail curling over his nose to keep it warm. He also loved to run and on a leash he’d pull your shoulder out of socket, so my husband would take him out and just let him run beside him in the park. And he was also very protective of us and our baby at the time. Very good dog and so loving and sweet. Really miss him.

My Yeti's breeder, has a puppy treadmill in her house. It's great for the dogs. Samoyeds need a lot of exercise, so, if the people aren't able to walk them miles everyday, the treadmill is great. Their personalities and looks are wonderful. I completely understand about the different looks and how you can tell them apart. I've known many. They are the greatest breed alive.

Despite their being unbearably cute fluffballs, please don't get one unless you live in a cold climate (it should snow abundantly EVERY Winter) and you have a large, very secure garden. A lot of free-time to dedicate to them wouldn't hurt either.

idraote, we had one while I was growing up. We lived in a moderate climate where it snowed only a few days a year. The number one thing, as mentioned in the video, is never cut their hair short. Our dog was trained as a house dog, not as a work dog like those in the video, so she did not zoom around the yard. We also did not have a fenced yard and she mostly respected the property boundary.

@Deserve Not Desire Samoyeds large coat INSULATE. This means it keeps the heat out just as well as it keeps the cold in. They do very well in hot climates when given plenty of shade and water. It is an absolute myth that they cant thrive in hot temperatures.
