My favourite character is the robot Vasco because of his funny comments and general attitude. Unfortunately, he's not a good companion since his skills suck, he seems to not want to use his weapon sometimes, he rarely gives comments when talking to people unlike other characters, he can't be romanced, and he doesn't seem to give the empath bonus. I hope at least some of this gets fixed down the line!

There is a safe in your room at the lodge that has unlimited carry capacity. Also a storage box with unlimited capacity in the basement of the lodge where all the crafting tables are. This was huge for me and probably you too

I highly recommend doing the intro speech for the Freestar Rangers questline (literally the intro talk with the faction head, not even a quest) to get a unique revolver that honestly has been my primary weapon for most of this playthrough. Low ammo consumption, high damager per shot. Also the reload animation and weapon skin are cool.

@@xrcassassin3544 I just found the revolver you're talking about and I know the immediate DPS is higher bc it fires multiple rounds of smaller ammo per trigger pull and has some more powerful mods. Once I'm high enough leveled for weapon crafting I'll match up the mods to see how the DPS compares apples to apples 😁

When it comes to faction quest the vanguard gives you loads of credits and starts giving them very early on. It's one of the best ways to kick start a ng+ not to mention the discounts you unlock

When you mod your ship run straight to the trade authority, and sell all the misc you've got in there, every thing that was out in the ship is in there. It's a great way to level up the trade (commerce?) skill, as well as about a grand in credits and 20 cargo capacity. depending on how many habs your ship has.

Also, it all respawns if you switch your home ship to another ship then back to the original one. I’m sure it’ll be patched eventually but for now it’s a good exploit.

Just a note on the carry capacity, you can sprint when over encumbered you will take damage from co2 poisoning but this will never actually kill you so once you get down to the 10% hp limit that it caps are you can sprint infinitely lmao

lol that's hilarious. CO2 red bar also heals by itself. Btw you can store items remotely to your ship's cargo, but there's currently a bug where, unless you did the entire landing chain of events (being outside the planet and choosing to land, instead of fast travelling from a different planet), you can't interact with it. If you fast travel from a different planet, your ships moves with you, but the game doesn't register it. Basically, if your ship is in the same planet as you are, you can open your ship menu, then cargo.

I have never stolen a ship. That said, I've started three separate games. Each time, at one point or another, hostile NPCs would land near me, and start to assault me. Naturally, once I fend off these criminals, their ships are technically abandoned, and therefore are subject to maritime salvage laws lol So I've had a Spacer ship, an Ecliptic ship and this last one was a massive House Vaa'run ship.

Thanks! I actually learned some things from this video! The mistake I made was treating the skills like other games. In this game it's actually better to unlock the first rank of any skill you might use instead of going deep into only your core skills. I actually started the game over at level 10 to be smarter with my character creation and skill investment plans, because this really does seem to be a long haul game. Im expecting another 1,000+ hour playthrough like i did in Oblivion.

@@MrScrawnjuan no. everyones definition is different. To me a companion is anyone you can take with you to raid ships/ hunt gang leaders and there is a crap load of those. Other people's definition of companion is just the Constellation people which there is 4.

The others, the crew, they have backstories and whatnot, but like one is just a doctor lady on cowboy planet looking for work. The main four are very interesting and have many hours worth of content each.

The story instantly hooked me the moment I got into The Lodge. I love the mysteries of space, and they just had to mention they want to explore space and I already signed up, though knowing Bethesda, my expectations for a good main story aren't too high. One thing that isn't explained well at all is how to get better suits. I'm at the point where you go to Altair, which is a very hot/radioactive planet, and nothing I have access to protects me more than 1 second outside the ship, and I can't upgrade anything or mod anything. It's super early in the story so I assumed I could just keep going with the story but it doesn't seem to be the case?

I placed a bunch of AID items in the 2 little stations when you entered the frontier. I later did the ship modifications and it respawned everything! Didn’t notice till hours later, but yeah lesson learned.

I learned this the hard way but if you have weapon cases or armor stands you want use to show off new weapons or srmor you arent currently using in the ship DO NOT swap ships or it'll delete those items. Edit: For the people mentioning it'll go back to your inventory that was the first thing I checked as well as other owned ships. This seems to be a bug and was just making sure no one ran into the same issue as me cause it sucks to lose good gear.

We need more ship combat opportunities. They seemed pretty regular in the first 10-15 system jumps I did. I'm 2/3 of the way to rank 3 which would unlock class B ships, but now nothing. 12 system jumps without a single ship battle. Also a bummer that while we can own multiple ships, in reality we only get to use one. I stole a really big ship that would be great to park as a temp/early game base. It has the interior room to add all the crafting stations, but it's not comparable to my slightly upgraded main ship that is set up for combat. So other ships you own are literally not useful at all. Maybe a mod will help this soon.

I came across a post that simply said, "just jump from moon to moon." And they were right! Jumping moon to moon, you almost always get some sort of ship inter action. Some are actually funny (no spoilers). About two out of three jumps will be a battle. I just did one that gave me three ship kills towards class B ships.@@EraclesK

I spent level points on weapon upgrading. You don't need to. There's a planet with a legendary weapon forge and it lets you upgrade all weapons to max without the levels in the proficiency

I originally made most of these mistakes. Realized I shouldn't have tried to make a big Outpost so early in my run. Wasted a lot of time and eventually burned myself out. Gave up and destroyed all the Outposts and went and did faction quests and main storyline quests. Worked out much better and now I have the skills and resources necessary to create my big Outpost network.

I tried to make an outpost relatively early as well. Once I realized the amount of materials required to make something I’d be happy with I abandoned the project and now I have no idea where it is. Wherever it is it’s got a landing pad, 2 Iron Extractors, 1 storage container, 3 wind turbines, and an airlock entrance that leads to absolutely nothing because damn do you need a lot of sealant for base building.

if you go to the ship builder npc, but don't register with them, instead opening your ship menu, you can save a few thousand credits registering the ship through that menu rather than talking to the NPC to do it.

hey, im not sure if you know this. But, whatever is your left trigger or secondary attack. if you hold that while using the Cutter. it will go into a charge and you can harvest raw ore faster.

Best mod that's been created so far, imho, is the one that adds a custom icon to every item depending on what it is. This helps differentiate skill mags, crafting mats, resources and rank, the whole thing. I'm honestly disappointed in Bethesda that they let this game launch with such a pathetic inventory management system.

Just travel the stars I have found many tier three weapons and armor just picking those bosses off. I might exploit the money glitch to a mill but I still run casual and run the story. If you can find one, the ecliptic Claymore is probably the best ship you can steal. Just upgrade the reactor and it can take you all the way to the late game

Most suits have at least one enviro that is not good at. I use the helmet and back pack to make up for these. My best suit is a zero in thermal so a get a helmet and pack that is good in thermal.

Some weapon stashes on ships or maps that may change can delete the items so don't stash things in places that can load in different.(this doesn't include environmental changes.

I died one time and i guess the quicksave feature that saves the game automatically had saved my game a split second right before i died. I couldnt pause the game and take any health item or anything. I had to go back an hour earlier to a save i had made which wasnt as bad as it sounds cause it only set me back about 15 minutes since i already knew where to go but i started making sure to save my game alot more often.

It's worth noting that registering your ship from your ship menu is cheaper than registering a vendor edit menu. You make a larger profit if you sell a ship after registering on your own.

Made the mistake to use my follower as bullet catcher. This can trash quests, for example the Generdyne where sneaking turns to a civil massacre. The follower also can die, they are only protected what does not cover explosions.

I wish the resources for crafting didn't have a weight requirement. I am currently unable to engage in certain missions because my ship inventory is well over capacity due to going from a ship with high capacity to the Razorleaf. My 420 capacity is more than double its capacity because I sold a ship with over 2,000 capacity. It wouldn't be too bad if each ship used a shared pool of crafting resource capacity, but kept each ship as an individual when it comes to stored items (I have 5 ships so far) but it doesn't seem to do that. I can't use the shielded compartments to store contraband because I'm already well over capacity while still being fairly early in the game.

Lol the tutorial vids for this game are hilarious 😂 Have status effect? Use aid item that solely exists for status effects and tells you so on screen. Have too many item? Use storage 🤓 Also, this videos dead wrong about not grabbing misc/junk items. Grab ALL the junk worth more than 30 credits (if you need money). This game has made being overencumbered an absolute joke. I go and raid a few outposts til my ship is full, my crew are at capacity and I'm overencumbered. I go to the nearest merchant area, do "Take All" for my ship and all companions inventories. Then I go sell it. I make so much money I end up having to wait multiple times to reset the merchants and sell more. Never had an issue with "wasting money" on the frontier. I had so much money early on because I grabbed all the junk I could find that I immediately off the Dream Home in full, upgraded all the frontiers systems AND bought the Shieldbreaker ship

A good way to reduce how much you pick up or drop off is to make yourself a good weight to value ratio. Like early on would be like 1 weight per 1000 credits. If it lower than that and the stuff itself isnt what you want you can just leave it there. I need to go sell stuff off less often since I started doing this. Once i get to a certain point I plan on increasing the value per 1 weight.

Aim while using mining last, you will almost instantly pop nodes that way

For everyone who wants to sell stolen ships. Don't go to the guy and register them. Instead, open up your menu, where you can see inventory, skills etc. And click at the bottom right on your ship. You can register it there. It's way cheaper and you can get more cash after selling it

Good to know I was hit with 80% evnviormental damage at lvl 25 fighting a lvl 75 and i had no meds. Just tons of quicksaves

Took a bit to figure out but you don’t want to spend any more time outside the ship on harsh environment planets than you have to.

Just put all resources in the lodge basement. Takes 2 min of over-encumbered. Then move 'em, or take what you need, to your outpost. Then you wont fill your ship cargo load needed for missions or picking up things from space.

Or make an ore ball pit in your ship. Stuff dropped on the ground of the ship doesn't count against its cargo limit. Granted, you have to go pick it all back up to use it, but it means you can transport literal tons of resources wherever you need to go. I have rooms of my ship dedicated only to resource piles and loot piles, so my actual cargo hold can stay nice and clean for super-heavy and super-necessary ship parts.

I TREASURE my real life parents (faults and everything) so I have decided to ALWAYS pick Kid Stuff for one of my traits for ALL of my characters. Little did I know that you will get A FREE SHIP once you have given enough money to your character's parents (who is actually a nod to Star Trek fans). So yeah, which made me decided in my headcanon that the ship my character's parents gave my character will be my character's personal ship for the entirety of the game.

Any other hoarders out there - the only real pro of grabbing everything is if you want to level the Commerce really quickly. It requires you to sell X amounts of different items. So being a kleptomaniac is helpful 😂

I ran around with poison, lung damage, and torn muscles for about an hour and it eventually healed itself lol

One big mistake I see people make is not holding aim while using the cutter. It instantly mines almost every resource, even the ones that take a while to mine.
