Very nice video. Thank you very much for it. I like "Cos" very much, apparently quite like you.. 😊 The Château released in October 2024 a special "anniversary box" with 3 bottles from the 2010 vintage. The wines were stored at Cos d'Estournel for all those years. I opened one bottle over the holidays with friends and we were all blown away by its elegance and power. Highly recommended....

Visited the Chateau and had a tasting in 1997. It was one of my most memorable moments of my time in Bordeaux and spawned my love for Bordeaux style wines.

That is so beautiful, that a single estate can start a love for a whole region. 🥰

What a GREAT winery ! I remember visiting it decades ago and not only are the wines phenomenal, the Chateau has a very unique architecture... I believe Indian influences ?

Make sure they clean the presses for the winter. Did a Bordeaux tour a few years ago finding a number of presses in storage clogged with stems and seeds.
@NoSediment11 күн бұрын
That sounds rather 😔 sad, wherever I saw the press or any other machinery, everything was spotless clean.

Wonderful video, vicarious thrill for me, Agnese. What do you think about Day 2 or Day 3 tasting. During the week, I rarely finish a bottle, and drink over 2 or 3 days. Cheers!
@NoSediment10 күн бұрын
It really depends on the wine, sometimes I feel that bottle has been open quite distinctly, and other times it does not bother me. But I also can’t finish bottle over an evening and will enjoy wine over a several days.

Sounds delish! How would you rate the 2017 vintage?
@NoSediment10 күн бұрын
Of this specific wine? I am afraid, I have not tasted Cos 2017, but I think that best producers created some great wines, despite vintage being quite challenging.

Great video! Agnese, did you carafe this wine before tasting and if so, for how long? I'm sometimes unsure how long in advance to open a wine like this. Thanks so much!
@NoSediment4 күн бұрын
No, I actually did not, it was coravined, and rest of the wine stayed in the bottle to be enjoyed later. I am not the biggest supporter of aerating wines, but that is just me. 🍷

Do you think the fruit would become more apparent with more time in the glass or after the opened bottle has sat for an hour or two? Thanks for the tasting!
@NoSediment8 күн бұрын
To be honest, I really don’t know. Each wine acts differently, and one might show more fruit after a while, and others would show more spicy character. 🍷

Only had this once, it was an 82 which my brother in law presented for a special meal with family and friends. It started of divine and sublime but sadly it quickly faded into harsh tannins and hard acids 😢

Sometimes old wines cannot live for too long in the glass, I have witnessed that myself. It is nice to catch them while they last! 🍷

Great wine and a very good presentation. Do you think critics tend to mark good wines too highly nowadays?
@NoSediment8 күн бұрын
I really don’t know. I don’t follow very closely to the wine critics, I might check specific wines, but certainly not to the extent to notice an overall trend. I think there are way too much wines scored at 90-95 and way too little at 98-100! 😳

How relevant is the 1855 classification today? The weather and climate are completely different, and even the soil probably is different.

It is a very complex question, and there are many who have discussed this is detail. I might not be able to talk all of it through in a one comment section. 😟

So if I don’t see you pouring the wine from an original bottle how do I know you are really trying this wine…… 🤷🏻♂️
@NoSediment11 күн бұрын
Good point, maybe You can slightly see the small amount poured from the bottle that is standing on the table, I am not sure. I am using coravin for these more expensive wines, as I can’t always finish wine during the day. But I will make sure to edit that in other videos to come! 😅
@johnt278511 күн бұрын
@ don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to be negative, I really enjoy your reviews, your enthusiasm is genuine - which for wine lovers is important. Your explanation is totally valid regarding the tool you are using, especially for such an expensive bottle of wine and not finishing it in one go….. I suppose I should take this lesson as well rather than finishing bottles just for the sake of it 🤦🏻♂️. Nevertheless and to the point - Perception is everything if you want to captivate your audience and keep them engaged, be open regarding your methodology and keep up the good work 👍🏻

That is true, wine styles also change over time, also new winemakers and directors come, and that influences how things are done. And we are here to observe! 🍷
