I agree. But it adds nothing to the original except better FX. So yes, every ten years a remake is necessary... "I am the AI Count Drrrraculaaaaa!" I've been waiting centuries for Nosferatu v.s. Batman, which seems inevitable. (Nosferatu vs the Monster of Frankenstein already exists). I dislike it that classic stories are remade indefinitely. Not because they are the greatest stories in history-- just to showcase a new generation of movie actors who fit a new beauty norm. My all-time favorite is still Polanski's "Pardon Me But Your Teeth Are In My Neck", that movie offered a reasonably fresh perspective on bloodsucking freaks. But very few went to see it-- not taking vampyres SERIOUS is almost a profanity!

I'm pretty sure the vast rocky landscape with a scary castle in the background and the large snowy village were done with CGI, lol. CGI is not bad, Hollywood just needs to fairly compensate their artists and give them proper time to work.
@Joris-KarlHuysmansАй бұрын
Wrong. Hollywood is overfunded vs indie cinema or European films for example. CGI in Hollywood is done to cater the expectations of the average american. If there are no flashy explosions, monster attacks, and people screaming their lungs out, the average american either falls asleep, insults the director mid-screening, or both. This is why Hollywood will always be Hollywood, they’re exclusively after the money, they don’t care about aesthetic values whatsoever. Watch some European cinema for a while and you’ll instantly notice the change. It’s also why the US adds more sugar to their soft drinks, makes meals jumbo sized, gives drugs away as if they were candy, etc etc. All part of the same rotten culture of consumerism.

That “feels like a dream” sequence is spot on, and is also the bit that all other Dracula films miss. I think Bill Skarsgard will be perfect for this role. As he was for Pennywise in the two "IT" films. He gets that twisted look in his eye and really starts freaking you out with his grin. All he has to do is that grin with his lip curved down. And have the two front fangs like Noferatu is noted for having. And he's successfully scared the shit out of everyone. This looks like it will be very good. And probably one of the better vampire films. Since Gary Oldman's portrayal of Dracula back in the 90's.
