Aberdeen were always a major threat to the old firm during the 70s, but rarely won any silverware, unlike during the 80s. They won this trophy though a few weeks later. Pity the 1970 success and this final aren't on youtube. Great to see this though.

Aberdeen and Hibs were the two clubs who challenged the Old Firm in the 1970's...both teams had the great Eddie Turnbull's influence on them

In the early 70's Hibs beat Jock stein's Celtic in three cup finals, and finished second two years running. Only Celtic were better in Scotland between 1972 and 1975.
