It was always better when the semi-finals were held at club football grounds. Wembley should be the final, that’s all!

Exactly! Always thought that myself.

Totally agree, it took the magic away when you could get to Wembley without reaching the final.

Brilliant footage, back in the days when the FA Cup really meant the world to the fans. The first I remember watching was Chelsea v Leeds in 1970. I’m a season ticket holder at MCFC for nearly 50 years. Watching 2 of my all time heroes Dennis Tueart and Dave Watson, I remember them knocking out my beloved team in round 5, they both were immense in the final, both were brilliant players for City and Sunderland and both would get in this current team under Pep. Sunderland magnificent in this 1973 Cup run .

Was there as a neutral. It was like a home game for Sunderland. The noise their fans made was the best I’ve heard.

Plain coloured shirts with the club badge, no squad number, just 1 to 11. No names on the back or extra badges on the sleeves. Memories.
Still a great game to watch, even after 50 years. The FA Cup at its peak. semi finals on neutral club grounds, real atmosphere with the 3pm kick off times, that allowed fans to get home handy, and celebrate or commiserate. And what a great referee David Smith was in the late 60s early 70s. I saw him referee the 1968 FA Cup Semi final Everton v Leeds, when the latter were looking for free kicks late in the game, trailing 1-0 to an understrength Everton team. People like Jack Charlton were camped out in Everton's penalty area. David Smith blew the final whistle playing the normal one or two minutes extra. I still recall seeing Don Revie, from my seat in the stands, protest to the Ref that the game had ended. Alan Ball. who was a great player for Everton, but just seemed out of place in this Arsenal team

Vic Halom was the manager of Rochdale FC in 1984 - I left school at 15 to be an apprentice footballer with the 4th division club. He was a good manager and still tough to play against in 5-a-side games. Vic was built for the number 9 shirt and had a great touch, as well as power. I think he is one of the last few from this team still living. Great game to watch! 1973 final was even better.

My Gran and Dad were at that game. Haven't watched it in years--forgot how we ran them ragged

Always support the underdog in the FA Cup, unless it's my team that's favourite of course. Fantastic to see Sunderland stuff Arsenal before beating The Scum in the legendary 1973 FA Cup final 👍

I liked Bob Wilson he dived at opposing forwards feet. Did he take one for the team? Them days or did they just limp off? Swiss roll overs out of date.
