This is so much fun. Made our own floss sugar with granulated sugar and 1 drop food coloring. You can also use 1 drop of a flavorants like the ones for cake icing that come in tiny bottles but only one drop was needed. I did some with cherry flavorant and going to experiment with vanilla, lemon and orange extract but only a drip in a 1/4 cup of sugar. You only need one tiny scoop of sugar per spin. About two scoops makes a decent size cotton candy. We rolled our own paper cones from printer paper! I am so sugared out right now but I need to clean my house so yah! Sugar worked so much better than hard candy!

My experience with the werthers and butterscotch, was not much candy. They will not break the machine! It does taste good, but for all the work and so little cc, I just go with the floss sugar. I am glad you are getting a new spinner! Enjoy!!!!!

I have one. I think the leftover crumbs are good and I also found that you can put them back into the machine and use it to make more cotton candy. Using 1 piece of hard candy is good too, but I find that you don't get as much as you do with flavored sugar. Great video though! I didn't know the spindle came out.

YES! I have tried Werthers, Jolly ranchers, most Dollar store disk candies. Out of the hard candies, The Starlight Mints worked best, Butterscotch and rootbeer barrels were the worst!!! I highly recommend using the real mcoy, Floss Sugar, I found it really cheapon popcorn supply. But you are more than welcome to get a 5 jar package off of Amazon, The floss sugar works best, Don't use Brown Sugar, Regular White Sugar is also good!!!

Yes, it's the black paint on the inside, but at the top, if that makes sense. Thanks for your advice. It is under 1 year old (it's about 8 months), so I'll get in touch with them. If they do replace the spinner for free, I'll probably have to pay shipping (not a big deal. Probably like £10 - about $15.)

I let some friends borrow it & they said it was a big mess & that it got sticky cotton candy all over the machine, table, floor & ceiling. Mine looks like yours but you can also use hard candy in it. Have you ever used hard candy in yours? If so, how did it turn out? Does yours get all over the counter, cupboards, floor & ceiling?

Yes, I just wiggle it a bit and it comes off. better when its a little warm, using a glove or damp rag to grab the spinner. it will come off. I hope that helps you! MK

If you mean white table sugar? Yes! It comes up sweet and fluffy! Mostly don't use any soft brown or anything like that! But Yeah, You may like the White Cane Sugar a lot! I do!!!

This is the most unintentionally hilarious video on KZbin: "Here she comes. Now it's starting to come out now. You'll see it start to build. Just go right over the top. Don't stick it inside. You go right over the top, back and forth. See how it's coming out? It's gunna grab on ya. One thing you've got to remember is that you have to heat this thing up with 5 minutes. All clean up is done with hot water."

With plain white sugar? Nope! Just either that sugar or floss sugar,, it is basically the same! I did however, try brown sugar,, not a great idea! Just always clean the sugar ring, that builds up on the inside of the plastic bowl, and that is it! Please let me know if you ever need any help! Mark

It only happened when I used Brown Sugar, Not a good idea! But It did not mess anything up! Regular sugar and candy, I believe it will discolor, But cleaned with hot water and dry, It should work great! Mine does! I do it just like in the video, Everytime!!! Let me know If you need more help! Mark

Great video. Hoping you can help. I heated the machine for about 8 min. I shut it off and put a scoop of floss sugar. Once I turned it back on, it started producing some cotton candy. Suddenly, it stopped spinning and making cotton candy and it was just burning the sugar. I also started to smell smoke. I turned it offf and it wouldn't turn on anymore. Do you think that i let the machine overheat or sugar may have fallen into the motor while spinning or maybe a defective machine? thanks

after you set it up and turn it on, you should see the element rods inside get red,, Wait 5 mins, turn it off add sugar or candy and restart it SHOULD be that easy! make sure the rods under the spinner are red hot! if they are not, it is a broken machine

First off.. Thank you for watching, hope you enjoy some of my other videos!!! Anyway I tried most hard candy, but my taste is for the traditional Cotton Candy, hence using floss sugar!! Which works better and is cleaner! There are some hard candies that will make a mess for sure, The Butterscoth disks, did not work well!!! But floss flying everywhere?? Never! I also have come to learn, that after making a few, make sure to knock the ring of sugar off of the inside of the bowl! It helps a lot! MK

Do you have a hard time removing the extractor head? i bought this last night and we made awesome cotton candy... but i still haven't cleaned it properly because it literally feels like its attached with cement, do you think it could get jammed? i dont want to break it from excessive force lol

We have a slight problem with ours. And another problem on top of it. The paint on the inside of our spinner has been chipping off, and I don't know what to do, so I haven't been using it. My sister teacher gave her one and it doesn't seem to make the cotton candy what's wrong with it??? I leave it on for 10min as it says on the instruction then pour the cotton candy sugar but nothing happens it seems to work with hard candy that's all. I even tried regular cane sugar like you some on the vid doesn't turn to cotton candy what could be the problem?? Its the same machine you using in this vid.
