I have this same cotton candy maker, and mine doesn't make the loud vibrating sound like his does. I believe in the video he didn't snap it down completely down. There are grooves and if snapped below those grooves it secures the machine tightly.

I have watched several pros making cotton candy and amateurs with similar machines and it isn't necessary to stop the unit when adding sugar just the force alone will make sure the sugar stays in that tumbler

This is true, but it is safer to turn it off first. If you drop it in while it's moving and it drops in sideways, burning hot candy could fly at you so I would recommend turning it off.

QUESTIONS 1. Do Hard Jolly Ranchers work? A:Yes 1.5:but wont the jolly Ranchers get clogged ? And use the motor? 2. Jolly ranchers work, you can either crush the candies or not, but to get the better result, crush the candies... You can use plain sugar, you can add flavor if you want. You can ONLY add 1-2 candies at a time, if youre using sugar, 1 tbsp only. Hope this helped

It works with crushed lifesavers. I crushed two wrapped lifesavers and poured them into the maker. Worked great. I am going to mix it with plain sugar next time. Too strong for my taste.

NOT use Jolly Ranchers, they get clogged in the machine and will burn out the motor. Flossugar, regular sugar and hard candy is what I use.
