I love this figure, but it really showcases what a challenge it is to translate Gambit's coat to a functional figure form. I think the static plastic coats always look the best, but they severely restrict the posability. Soft goods-wise, I think the original Toy Biz Marvel Legends Gambit had the best looking coat, but it was still kind of limited in what you could achieve without a wire. And then there's another Gambit out there (Revoltech, maybe?) where the coat is hard plastic with multiple points of articulation. On that one, you can get some really great-looking action poses, but the coat doesn't look great in a neutral pose. I don't know where I was going with all that... but I'm REALLY looking forward to getting the Mondo version (with Rogue) in a couple months.

Feels unfair to compare it to Marvel Legends, when that's a twenty-five dollar figure -- and for close to a hundred dollars, the Mafex better be a much better figure lol Also, if we're comparing, the fact that Legends has designs on the cards while the ninety-plus dollar figure doesn't is extremely frustrating. Great figure and great review overall, but honestly, I'm still very happy with my ToyBiz figure, the soft goods hide the janky articulation and joints , plus he still poses very well and has paint just as good as Mafex's.

Mafex figures are difficult to stay in tact....the small head peg, choppy limbs feels like their going to break if you move them excessively..... Aesthetically, they look better than Marvel Legends but having them in hand Marvel Legends wins.

The 3 card throwing effect was my biggest let down with this piece… absolutely love the figure but the execution on that was poor… way too heavy and even the little stand it comes with is useless, even lighter than the effect…

I didn’t really have issues, but you’re not wrong about the weight. Long term it would probably not work out as well for me, but it survived the spinning pose! Haha

I'm just starting to think of a fix, no matter what Gambit you have. Why not get a high glossy paper, print it out, and fasten a twist tie underneath (on the opposite side you'll be looking at). NO WEIGHT! If you have the Hasbro Gambit, you can't use their effect anyways; it's f*ing WRONG! If you don't think that will be brilliant enough, there's a tape you can combine it with. Go to Home Depot into the paint section. Maybe the hardware section where you find the caution tape. NO! I'm not telling you to get caution tape. There's a tape that you can put over a shattered tail light on your car. It's translucent! Tape a twist tie or two to one strip. Then slap another strip the other way so it's not sticky. Then cut it to the desired shape. And then twisting the rest into shape may have desired effect. Hit it with one LED light if you need further illumination, I guess.
