I cracked up when you showed the “S &H green stamp”. When I was a kid you got those at the checkout of the grocery store and gas stations. There were books we had to lick those blasted stamps and put them in. There was a redemption store that you took the books to and get all sorts of stuff. Kitchen appliances, towels, household goods etc. God help you if my mom sent you to the grocery story and didn’t come back with her precious stamps! Lol! Thanks for the trip down memory lane. ❤

My mom saved them too! Was it just a store or was there a catalog that you had to look through first?? I could of sworn that we/she perused a catalog before cashing them in. I honestly don't remember her getting any from gas stations but I clearly remember having to lick all those tiny stamps.....and the taste of the glue 😂

I always believed the "Girl with the Pearl Earring" painting was by Vermeer, a very famous Dutch artist back in 1665, at least Wikipedia says all that, including that he's one of the greatest Dutch painters. Love that painting and others that he did including one called The Milkmaid. He even did one of himself and looks goofy, lol. Vermeer had a talent for capturing the light. There was a movie entitled "Girl with the Pearl Earring" a few years ago with Scarlett Johansen that was just okay. I liked the Girl painting so much that I sent for a copy of the picture that I framed and kept for years on a wall in my bedroom.

The green stamp is a S&H green stamp! I remember my mom saving them. She got a certain amount of stamps based on the total price of her grocery receipt. They came with a booklet that you stuck each stamp in. When you had completely full booklets, (and depending on how many filled booklets you had), you could cash them in for merchandise/items from a S&H catalog. Some of the stuff available were actually really cool things we couldn't afford to buy outright.

There was also a thing I saw not long ago about how different types of tears look different under a microscope. They looked at tears of sadness, happiness, and (I think) onion tears and they all look different.
