DDoS, bravo. Keep up the great work. My mother understood what I'm working with. I need to work on my rethoric, I think, since I've never been able to explain it.

So your statement about the thief cut off with "for stealing 60 pounds worth of" and all I could think was that she was running awfully fast for carrying an extra 60 pounds of anything.

I've listened to no such thing as a fish for about a year now. The three on the left look exactly like I pictured all of them, but the one on the far right looks nothing like I imagined. I can't even really put words to how his appearance differs from my imagination, it just does.

I know what you mean, when I heard them for the first time, I thought James was Jason Manford, they sounded so similar, and I thought that what he'd look like...

Thankfully the trade deal was saved, but as a Canadian it was a strange week where "fucking Belgium" was a common Canadian sentiment :p

I will make every effort to have "fucking Belgium" adopted into local vernacular. This is too magical to let go

Don't worry, here in Belgium a lot of us had the same sentiment. "A handful of our nobody-politicians are able to stop a huge international trade deal that everyone else is agreeing to?! Fucking Belgium."

Might explain why Prime Minister Justin Trudeau opted not to meet with The King and Queen of Belgium when they came to Canada on a state visit last week. As a Canadian, I thought Justin was being rude. Now I see there may be something behind it (roll eyes). Of course, the Belgians would not have made a flag gaffe like we did - embarrassing.

From Wikipedia: The snail was named after the left-wing British Labour politician Jeremy Corbyn, on account of it being a "lefty" snail, but also due to Corbyn's reported love of gardening.

I just fact checked the "7 means something naughty in Cantonese" thing with my wife. Seven, or "Chaat", is actually a phoneme for something much worse than that. It's a slang term similar to calling someone a tw#t or a c*nt in English, but actually harsher. Nine, "Gau", is actually a phoneme for penis (also "dog" and "enough"). Cantonese: A linguistic minefield second to none ;-)

"Chaat" actually means flaccid penis, and "Gau" erect penis. For twat or cunt it's "Haai"

Are the tones the same? Cause my layman mind would guess that Mandarin would be worse cause it has both fewer phonemes and fewer tones. And a huge number of homophones, that is, both same phonemes and same tones.
