FUELTASTIC - Not a BMW M5, but who cares ?
We've said goodbye to Maserati V8 engines. We took advantage of it one last time by driving the Maserati Ghibli 334 Ultima and Levante V8 Ultima in the snow in Livigno, Italy. Some people compare the Ghibli to the BMW M5, but who cares? As you can see in our test, it's possible to push it to the limits, and have a lot of fun doing it.

Nice video! I know the feeling, I currently have the last M5 ('21) with a pure V8; next M5 is hybrid. The next generation of drivers will miss out on the glory days of V12s, V8s, and manual transmissions!

This ís a beautiful car in many ways. A dying breed…. The best decision I made as a Ghibli-driver was to loose the P-zero’s, and move to the Michelin PS4S, total upgrade.

The generation coming up now doesn’t care about driving. They want automation. Electric. Not V8 power. No analogue gauges(they can’t read them anyway). Italians make great cares for those of us that actually enjoy the drive. It’s a shame really that we hear reviewers say “it has analogue gauges but” as though it’s a bad thing. Or “it doesn’t have auto pilot “ etc. Who cares? The next generation of car buyers and drivers that’s who.

My friend - you are so right. I own a 2006 Maserati GranSport and I love how “analog” it is…I dislike any car in the 2000s…no soul or passion…and…I can’t stand these kids in this day and age…glued to their phones. Sorry - I should have prefaced by saying, please go to your safe room before reading this.

lol. Agreed. I have a 17 Ghibli and a 69 Alfa Duetto. Another complaint I have is the disappearance of the manual shifter on Italian sports cars! Looks like other manufacturers are bringing them back. Alfa Maser Ferrari etc need manual options again!

I think Maserati will live to regret going electric. I'm on my 4th Ghibli and my second Trofeo. I can't see a future in Maserati from what I'm currently hearing.

Two generations of Maserati QP had Ferrari family V8s and 4 doors. The Lancia was also different (cross plane crank) as are the Maseratis.
