Yeah, not a fun day for sure. I put fishing first and safety second 😞

Glad you made it out OK. Lightening is definitely frightening. Not to mention hazardous to your health.

You had better luck than I did. I fish Yankeetown every weekend and we had tarpon everywhere around us on the 19th… threw everything in the tackle box at them and no hits. We were even on the water at 4:30 am. Only caught jacks and catfish lol. Still a good time though.

Dang Scott that's early! It's been a while since I've struggled to catch fish. I did happen to fish the barge canal about a month ago (for the first time), which is in the same general area as YT. Water clarity wasn't very good and I have yet to see or catch a tarpon on the west coast. For some reason the water clarity down in the Ozello/CR area was pretty bad as well. First time I haven't been able to sight fish in the backcountry.

@@United_By_Water The tarpon are definitely out there. My wife got one the week before on the 12th. It was crazy, got it on a popping cork and a shrimp at marker 39 in YT at the western point of the island. They seem to be hanging out at marker 39 straight west from the ramp and in the barge canal at marker 39. In the channel.

First time in my life I started thinking about my folks and what they would have to deal with if I got hit...not fun.

"Tim" and a host of others camp behind the Circle K at the corner when you turn.
