Sorry to tell you, but she still has diabetes. The pancreas don't magically begin producing insulin again. If she stops shots and isn't eating correctly, the A1C will go right back up. NO cure for diabetes. You MUST make a lifestyle change.

@@michellesmith2793 I can tell you that she may not have to take the shots forever but without a lifestyle change, she will be on some type of diabetic medication forever. As a diabetic you MUST cut carbs and sugars from your diet. Portion sizes must also be reduced. I hate when people say, they no longer have diabetes. It can't be cured! Several years ago my A1C was a 12.1; the goal is now a 6.2 to considered normal. I had to completely change my eating habits and I still take Metformin. It's not a magic shot. I'm so sick of people taking it like it's magical. I have lost zero weight on it but it is controlling my blood sugars, which has been good for me personally. I eat half of what I used to and still struggling with the weight but also have some other things going on. It has helped me look at food very differently and actually doing that with the eating less I've been working out now cause I somehow now I want to? Also now counting calories so we'll see. BUT I'm also only on 2mg not the big numbers some are with stuff other than Ozempic. It has not at all made me want to drink less alcohol but that was a personal choice I made just this week. It's an aide to changing my mind about food. That is the only thing I can say about it as far as the weight loss.

Your guest may be a fitness expert, however, she is no physician. She mentions Metformin as an alternative to Ozempic. Although it is a very good medication that lowers ones A1C, if you are a patient with type 2 diabetes AND have chronic kidney disease, you should not take Metformin as it could become toxic for some patients, and a physician would not keep or put a patient on that drug. Disappointed with the omission of that vital, important fact in your segment...or perhaps the guest just didn't know that because...she's not a doctor.

I don't like videos like this because Jillian is not a medical doctor and she is clearly giving medical advice. I was just diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and prescribed Mounjaro. The plan is to be on it for 3-6 months while I work on building healthier eating habits now that I've been diagnosed. I've taken Metformin and it did not have any big benefit for me. Obviously the "celebrity obsession" with these things for weight loss is bad, but these drugs can help people that have received a diagnosis. Some people need this stuff. Some people get it properly prescribed by medical doctors and use it as a tool while they try to rebuild eating habits. Having a "fitness influencer" come on your show to give medical advice and put a stigma on a particular class of medication is bogus. She has never taken it herself, so she can't claim "personal experience" either. This is just bad all around.

Check out Jillian info, she agrees with you. Her advice is to work on health while taking meds so you can get off them, change hablits and lifestyle when possible to never take them again. I had D2, PCOS, rheumatism. Metformin and Mounjaro made me extremly sick. I changed by lifestyle, learned about healthy eating, added exercise and have been off meds for 3 months while having good blood sugar levels. It's not easy, exercise is a must, some off days due to stress but yoga has helped. Works better for me then meds. She has done her research, has a helpful youtube and podcast. It really annoys me that people assume through ignorance or due the desire for business promotion purposes that overweight equals poor diet or overeating. There are medical conditions leading to weight gain eg need for medications to treat medical conditions or eg poly ovarian cystic syndrome. My daughter has exercised dieted etc all her life but her weight increased regardless due to pocs. She tried metformin which is for insulin resistant conditions but it caused severe muscle cramping it was not until ozempic that she was finally able to lose weight. Unfortunately due to short supply in Australia as the USA market seems to get priority she was not able to continue treatment. With no changes to diet and with increased exercise her weight increased back up. The side effects appear to be no different to most drugs ie may cause any condition under the sun liability waiver. It is not a short term drug it is a lifelong drug until a better alternative comes along. It iss always naturally thin people who think diet and exercise is the answer. Sometimes we need to look to the medical professionals and genetic heritage ie. medical conditions going down the line like pocs to find the answers

Yes, very true. In these types of conversations people tend to forget that there are a plethora of other reasons one may be overweight. It is not always overeating (though usually that seems to be the case) so we should never judge without knowing first. And weight loss for people who don't overeat truly require the guidance of a doctor to do blood exams to really pinpoint any other illness one may be suffering from if the weight gain is abnormal.

Most of the research I've read on T2D points to insulin resistance being there first prior to the weight gain, at least for those who develop it while in their 20s and 30s. Yes it can still be controlled through a rigorous low carb diet (not just 'eating less'), but the slightest disruption to that routine can cause it all to come crashing down again. That there are obese people who are not T2D is evidence that the correlation isn't as direct as 'health and wellness' experts depict. My opinion - these aren't miracle drugs and you may have side effects, however if you are morbidly obese or T2D and can tolerate them then they are perfectly legitimate ways to achieve better health and nobody should make you feel like you 'just don't have enough self control' for using them.

I despise the attitude that Ozempic is always wrong. I'm pre-diabetic & I'm disabled due to my weight & could not exercise. COULD NOT! Per Doctors orders. Could not have knee replacements because of my weight & my knees are total bone on bone. I have sciatica in my shins due to weight & lack of exercise. I've lost almost 100 pounds on a year on Ozempic & can finally have knee replacements & become active & exercise. I agree that people who need to lose a few pounds shouldn't use it. But stop with the blanket of hate & staying it's never good. Some of us cannot go to the gym. Can't even walk. We need help & this has been my answer. I'm looking forward to being active & exercising again. Yes, I'm in therapy & have been for many years for various issues including food issues. But with all the abuse of Ozempic & the negative talk, I'm shamed to admit I'm on it, even though it was obviously what I needed to get my blood sugar under control (other meds do have horrible side effects - I don't care what JM says!) & get the head start I needed. I don't want people thinking I'm just using the fad "miracle drug" which was never the case. I didn't even know Ozempic could have a weight loss benefit when I started it. It was a great surprise. I'm sick of the negativity & resent the shaming & the implication that I could be taking an easy way out. I still make healthy decisions. I do agree it's abused, but don't put everyone into one convenient box of negativity. Btw - I was blessed to have very mild side effects. All meds havd potential for garsh side effects & affect everyone differently. Just because some people have a bad experience doesn't make it bad for everyone. If that was the case - metformin would be discontinued!

It’s about using any form of medication as prescribed and in conjunction with lifestyle change and exercise and once you’ve trained yourself not to be an emotional eater or glutton, then once off the drug, continue your lifestyle regimen. No drug or weight loss procedure is a permanent fix all, therefore to maintain your results, you have to continue with behavioral changes, and get therapy for any and all underlying issues that caused you to marry food in the first place. It’s all about accountability people! It’s not Ozempic’s fault if you’re abusing the use of the medication. That’s why there are warnings incorporated in the instructions for all medications. I've taken it for awhile now, but they increased the dosage about a year to aid in facilitating weight loss. I got super sick last week and had to go to the ER. They said it was a stomach bug. I've never been that sick before! I was throwing up bile and dry heaving, cold profuse sweating for 18 hours straight! It was quite an ordeal! They gave three different things; Zofran, Phenergan, and lastly Valium. I slept a couple hours went home and was told not to take Ozempic for awhile. Oh yeah, I was passing a kidney stone while all this was going on! On the flip side, I've lost over 60 lb now and I have more energy, and started walking! Hopefully, I'll lose some of my fluff, but IDK...I do live in one of the best places to eat in the world. Hello Megyn from Louisiana!

Metformin is an insulin sensitizing medicine that can help lower blood sugar if you are in a low A1C range (e.g. 6-7ish) to start and can have a side effect of mild weight loss. It is usually the first step before you end up with either insulin, keto, or a semiglutide.

With all due respect, this woman needs to see a doctor for her adhd or whatever she's got. 😂 Its hard to not be annoyed by her. Another thing, in order to lose weight you need to control your blood sugar, which is what ozempic does. So an overweight diabetic is now able to lose weight. Personally, wasn't successful with just diabetic pills and or insulin. While i am concerned about side effects need to reduce due to other issues so will see.

Jillian Michael's was low key abusive to obese people on the show Biggest Loser. None of the contestants kept.the weight off. The fact is, we desperately need a treatment for the management of obesity. Obese people have biological reasons why they gain back weight easier. We should be cautious when prescribing a new drug, but if the long term studies show it to be safe, I see this as a game changer. Obesity is a chronic issue. Once you have type 2 diabetes, you gain weight easier. You can reverse it, but it is difficult to combat biological changes obesity promotes in the body.

A common pattern I see in life is the pull towards balance. Everything has a price to be paid. You either pay it up front or pay later with interest. I am extremely skeptical of medications because of this pattern that nature always tries to find the balance. Maybe the medication helps but as wonderful as it is there is going to be an equally terrible side effect.

Of course Jill believes that the solution is exercise because that’s her specialty! She’s totally wrong. Research proves that exercise doesn’t help weight loss. The only thing that helps with weight loss and diabetes is eliminating carbs from your diet. BTW, Jilian is NOT a medical professional or expert and it’s dangerous to listen to her medical advice. I’m surprised that Meghan has her on her show. I’m very disappointed in her. 😢

Can you show me what the research is, exactly? You realize exercise burns calories, and a person's weight is all about calories in/calories out. Furthermore, muscle burns more calories than fat, and the only way to gain muscle is exercise. So you're absolutely wrong, and I'm curious what hack did this particular research you're mentioning.

There's a lot of irony hearing Jill talk about a weight loss solution being a band-aid when 90% of Biggest Loser contestants regained all their weight back. 😂 But she isn't wrong. The same cravings and behaviors that led to the weight gain come back the second people go off Ozempic. So it isn't really fixing anything. Then most of the weight they do lose on Ozempic comes from muscle loss. So the combo of muscle loss and extreme calorie reduction leads to a crashed metabolism. This is the same reason why Biggest Loser people all regained the weight. 💯

Cells are basic building blocks of every tissue an organ in your body overtime. These parts can become defective or stop working. They are literally junk and unhealthy. Your body is cellular recycling system is called autophagy. It takes the junk and repurposing it into salvageable parts and your cell discard the parts. It doesn’t need.
