Intel's upcoming 13th Gen CPUs are closing in, but not every CPU in that line-up is actually based on the next-gen Raptor Lake architecture, some are rebranded Alder Lake parts. In this video we will take a look at how and why Intel is rebranding older Alder Lake CPUs, which parts are actually based on the new Raptor Cove core architecture and discuss, why not all rebranded CPUs have to be bad.

Since Raptor Lake just launched today: Yes, its true! CPUs below the 13600K(F) are not based on the new Raptor Lake B0 die, but on refreshed Alder Lake H0/C0. Only exemption is the 13400(F), which can be based on both. But all CPUs launched today (13900K(F), 13700K(F) and 13600K(F) are real Raptor Lake parts!

This is coming from someone who has been on this platform for a WHILE at this point,I had an i9-12900ks and now an i9-13900k and Raptor lake is still on the 1700 socket/the Z790 uses the 1700 socket as well,this is just something that needs to be thought about/talked about. The real issue is,I think AMD is falling behind, YES they have 3D CPUs and MUCH better optimization,but their JUST getting DDR5 RAM and their JUST catching up at the end of a generation/the Meteor Lake platform/1851 socket,MAY come out SOON/the i9-14900ks, will most likely be released on the meteor lake platform/1851 socket. I think this is something people NEED to be thinking about, IF your planning on investing in Raptor Lake/Z790 boards/the meteor lake platform/the 1851 socket MAY be right around the corner,if you ALREADY own an alder lake board/an i9-12900k/ks,go ahead and get an i9-13900k,I don't think thats a bad idea,but investing in Alder Lake/Raptor Lake,this late in its life cycle, isn't necessarily a great idea/again most likely the i9-14900ks,will not be on Raptor Lake/the 1,700 socket and it will be on the meteor lake platform/the 1851 socket. To put this in prospective and I know this isn't the entire story/power/pin count isn't everything,but it does mean A LOT,more pins equals more power and more surface area,surface area allows for more cores and more pins allow you to power those cores/you won't have as many power restraints, this isn't the whole picture, but this is DEFINITELY something to think about, Kaby Lake,which came out in 2016 had 1,151 pins and AM4,that came out in 2016 had 1,331 pins,Alder Lake/Raptor Lake have 1,700 pins, AM5 has 1,718 pins and Meteor Lake has 1,851 pins,like I said pin count doesn't mean everything and it MAY be something AMD can work through with optimization,time will tell,but this is something that NEEDs to be brought up/at least looked at/observed.

Burned some transistors into it and made some chips. I connected the chips til I had 256 cores. I'm playing cyberpunk 4088 on high settings right now and it's much better than the first one. The 13400 is going to be the chip to watch I think. Yes it is on the older die, but generation over generation it is going to get a MASSIVE boost with those E cores added. The 12400 was already enough for 95% of people, with the added efficiency cores coming I think the 13400 will still be a strong competitor years from now.

Would the 13400 be faster than a 13500 if it has raptorlake cores? Or would the superior core/cache count of the 13500 win? I am leaning toward the 13500 because of the extra cores but..
@HighYield
@HighYield Жыл бұрын
That depends, Raptor Lake has about 3-4% better gaming IPC, but the majority of the extra performance is due to higher clock speeds. I guess a i5-13400 with a RPL core would still clock like its Alder Lake brothers. But in theory it could be possible.

It's like when 10105 came out after the 10100, but at least they said it was still 10th gen then. 13100 seems like a waste of money if it's much more expensive than the 12100. I don't mind them using alder lake CPUs for the 13th gen since you get a nice core count uplift from last gen.

While it's nice to be getting more cores you are missing out on the IPC improvements brought in with Raptor Lake still. Alder Lake based 13400 will have the smaller L2 cache etc. compared to higher SKUs in the line up that are based on Raptor Cove arch. I guess it's intel's way of maintaining profits as the dies using the Alder Lake C-0 die will be smaller than they would be if they were cut down Raptor Lake B-0 parts.

Right now at this time in 2024 I was happy to see I actually have a C0 revision of the i5 13400f. This means it's really an alder lake. Which is a good thing right now. As 13th and 14th gen raptor lake (The real raptor lake and not the rebranded Alder lake) is the ones being affected by the infamous 'degradation' problem. Apparently there are some i5 13400f/i5 13400 that are based on the raptor lake core and has the B0 revision.

Not a fan of rebranding at all. That being said, the i5 13th gen lineup looks to be a ridiculously good CPU as long as prices stay mostly the same as previous gen which is not a guarantee. 13500 looks to be a great value chip. 13600K looks like it'll be extremely competitive. There's genuinely no way Zen4 can compete with 13600k. 6P + 8E cores for a total of 14 cores against a six core CPU. I genuinely think that the only battles Zen4 has a chance of maybe winning is Gaming performance and maybe efficiency. And gaming performance is not something I'm convinced will be faster on Zen 4. As far as what we know, it's the same core architectures in Alder Lake and Raptor Lake and the only real changes are core counts, clock speeds and cache (there are some improvements to Intel 7 in Raptor Lake that help the clock speed). Therefore, I don't think it matters which die you are getting. As long as you are getting a clock speed or core count increase, why does an end user need to care if it's Alder Lake or Raptor Lake? Even for the i3, a 100mhz clock speed increase is not nothing. 13th Gen is an optimisation, nothing is new, not even the core designs. It's 9th gen to 10th again.

On AMD I used a 3400g which was 2000 based and have 5700u 3000 based laptop. Different model numbers, price and availability, with some tweaks claimed. I think we have to accept the marketing use of year based model numbers, OEMs find it too useful freshening ranges and it maintains product supply. Intel's apparent 13th generation 12th generation chip is more directly misleading, will there be 2 model numbers with the exact same specs at different prices? Giving different chips the exact same model number is highly deceptive. After that GPU I don't trust Nvidia products.

If the recent Z4 vs Z4Vcache comparisons are reflective of real world performance the difference in performance between the 2 models is actually higher than the majority of Intel's upgrades for all previous generations since Haswell. In fact the performance difference is almost as large if not larger than the upgrade AMD in performance from the "Bulldozer last descendants" to the first Zen core, which was a huge bump in performance, over 50% in most if not all cases.

I think it is misleading that Intel has different amounts of cores if you have a desktop CPU or a mobile CPU even though model name would suggest otherwise. This is 2022... i3, which is i-series (not some cheapo Celeron or Pentium) still has only two cores if you buy a mobile CPU. Even Ryzen 3-series mobile CPUs have 4 cores and 8 threads. But of course something like a number of cores isn't everything, but I unfortunately have experience about having to use SFF desktops with Intel Pentium (desktop version has 2 core, 4 threads, but at higher wattage and clockspeed than mobile i3) and running dual core CPUs simply are not adequate anymore. Doesn't even matter if you are not doing anything heavy on your machine. Even simple things like reasonable number of office software and like at the same time is too much. Also updates of any kind take way too long to install when you are used to even having an old 4-8 core/8-16 thread CPUs.

I wonder why Intel doesn’t have a P-0 die for the Pentium and Celeron’s, that they could use left over C-0 dies that have malfunctioning P-cores, so a 1 performance core, 4 efficiency cores, like an overclocked Pentium 8505 - Locked 3.6GHz for E cores, and locked 4.2GHz for the P core

I'd do something similar but different, I'd go with the Core 2 Quad Extreme having a 4.2GHz base clock with overclocking up to 5GHz while adding 4 additional E Cores with a 3.6GHz base clock. I'd also implement some of the newer vector register instructions that you see in modern CPUs as well as a very good cache scheme. Of course you're going to want to have a smaller die size compared to the original Core 2s from the late 2000s to work with modern motherboards and sockets. I would probably rate this chip just above the i5s and in between the i7s and i9s or at least on par with the i7s. I would also make sure that it's 100% compatible out of the box with both DDR4 and DDR5 support. Something like this could be a good bang for the buck. It also wouldn't run as hot and require liquid cooling like that of the i9s and some i7s. One of the main optimizations would be to keep the overall thermals low and try to minimize the power consumption. So it would kind of be like a redesign of an older chip to fit the newer sockets keeping all of the good stuff and adding in the newer requirements. I'm only saying this because I had a Core 2 Quad Extreme 3.0GHz and I am still using it over 15 years later! A bit of High Performance with Efficiency in mind and also built with Integrity all for a decent price. A 4 core super performance with a 4 core efficiency accompanied with a better modern caching system that also supports some of the newer instructions for about 30-40% of the cost of a 8/4 or 6/4 chip would have my support. If I was to spend say $500-800 for this chipset as opposed to $800-1200 for some of the i7s and i9s while still maintaining about 90% of the performance... I'd save a good 300-400! For me the jump from i5 to i7 is where the competition is lacking. The i5s are okay but I'd rather go with the i7s and as for the i9s that little extra power draw and then having to liquid cool on top of it for just another 3-5% increase in performance... Yeah I'd go with the i7 first and save a few bucks. Now if I could save a few more dollars and still have something better than an i5... and is almost on par with an i7 that'd be nice!

This kind of rebranding is completely dishonest. Let's take the i5-13400 for example: 6p+4e, 2.5GHz base, 20M cache, 24EU iGP. If this data is correct, that's an improved i5-12400 (the highest ADL SKU that matches iGP, cache size and base clock) with an extra 8 e-cores. If Intel now can make this improved i5-12400 because of changes in yields/binning for the C0 die, why not just branding that as ADL i5-12450 for example? Many people prefer a CPU or GPU of the latest generation to a prev-gen option that's one or two steps higher in specs. Last time I made a full build, I chose a 6-core Zen3 5600X over the 8-core Zen2 3800X which had similar price at the time. Because newer architectures always offer improvements in IPC, clock boosting/OC, memory support, PCIe/IO, x86 ISA, etc. For APUs and mobile the difference can be even bigger with superior GPU arch and improved power efficiency. So even if a prev-gen choice at same price point wins benchmarks that favor single factors like higher core count, I'll get last-gen every time. (Of course I wouldn't have preferred a 5600X to a 3900X where the performance advantage is much bigger; but then again, those options never had comparable costs, and if my budget had been bigger at the time, I'd pick a 5800X over the 3900X easily. Maybe not over the 3950X, but I rarely buy the "top" SKUs of anything since price/perf is typically crap.) Of course I am now a tech enthusiast and I know and care how to choose these components, but not many years ago, my criteria for picking a new computer was going to vendors like Dell and looking at the basic info such as CPU generation, core count and clock. The 2010 version of myself would totally be fooled by these branding tricks, and I was already an experienced software engineer, I just didn't care to follow hardware tech at all.

I think the main reason Intel is re-using older dies is that they don’t need to design and tape-out more chips. But they also want a coherent 13th gen line-up, so they use new names. A lot of ppl won’t buy anything that already sounds old. It’s not 100% honest, but also very common in the industry and all other companies (AMD, Nvidia) do it too.
@opinali
@opinali Жыл бұрын
@@HighYield Even the argument of coherence only makes sense for marketers. Imagine Sony introduces their 2022 line of TV sets, now with OLED panels, you make a massive marketing campaign over that. But for 50inch and smaller models you just rename last year's models that had older LED panels. Maybe with some upgrade like latest embedded processors and SmarTV features,.but the most important element is the same. Very hard to call that a coherent product lineup.

I have experienced rebranding 10y ago done by AMD when I buyed Radeon 6770HD being 5770 in fact. It didn't hurt my value at all as I upgraded from GF8800GT. Mentioned AMD gpu was good deal, no big issues, performance ok, lower price vs Nvidia budget was strong point too for me. Anyway fooling, mistaking customers and lying to them is job of not much smart people. Why? Because they guess they get out of that business/deals well, underestimating both customers intelligence and ability to reach correct information. It is usually just matter of time to find out. I don't forget that easy. But we got just 2 cpu pc chips designers/makers, so there is limited option to choose from. Btw if Intel would make pricing changes to most of their Alder lake gen, it would be hopefully same as they bring w parts of Raptor lake. But it would hurt their marketing, as someone told, "price is message". Also just lowering prices wo almost any new stuff from Intel would make us think they not as innovative as they should as no1 cpu maker (In quantity;-), which we already know. AMD does great job, but they limited by wafer capacity (I guess), pricing(not own fabs, although sometimes it could be cheaper, its not due to TSMC pricing/development strategy), also multicore design is probably limited by frequency vs TDP on useable nodes). Just surprised how Intel still competes on improved 10nm if I am not wrong. Also heard that less core cpu has slight advantage vs more core cpu in single threaded performance, thanks to scheduler? Is that part of Intel advantage in gaming when it comes to single core perf? Anyway thanks for your work and informing.

These seem very valuable from a gamers perspective that play low to mid maybe a few high end games but want to keep their total build cost relatively low while still getting enough raw power. and these chips tend to be lower in power consumption which is always a plus for me personally.

@@HighYield Yeah but from a business perspective if the price is too low they can lose out on money, if it's too high and the gap between generations is too great people will be hesitant to buy the newer generation. Yet if the prices of the newer chips are too close to that of the previous gen models, then they'd have to lower the price on the older gen models... If a current 12th Gen i5,i7,i9 was selling for say $800-1200 depending on model then I'd have to sell the 13th Gens for say $900-1400 and would have to drop the 12th gens to say $600-1000. This way you can still sell the older gen high end units for those looking to build a new affordable system but are a generation behind, and yet the price of the newer gen isn't significantly higher and just right were enthusiast wouldn't complain. With these kind of ratios or percentages, you'd find that last generation's top model now has a competitive and comparative price to this year's middle to high end model. Now these numbers aren't exact as it would be based on the current market, but this is something I'd consider doing from a business model perspective. This way I'd still be selling both generations and once the previous generation is SOLD OUT, then I'd drop the newer generation down a little bit say like by 10-20% off once it becomes the standard product on the market.

On August Loose Ends MLiD was asked about this "rumour", he said he'd checked with an Intel source and the non-K SKUs will be new dies. At minimum a re-spin, but I guess the L2 cache size will be a key differentiator between 13th & 12th. Intel do segment a lot and L3 cache reduces significantly but if L2 does that's tight to the core's block and more integral to the processor. The video sounded very definite based on an Intel statement, but rebadging did seem very dodgy and risky PR-wise without some stepping like enhancement. [ MLiD August Loose Ends video has Raptor Lake 10/22 at beginning of the title ]

Yeah, I just listened to it. I actually watched the entire first hour of the stream, but then I fell asleep (late in Germany). Honestly, if Intel is re-using their C-0 and H-0 ADL dies for Raptor Lake (and it currently does look like thats the case), I dont see why they would "re-spin" it. MLID does say that Intel is not rebranding Raptor Lake (I guess he meant Alder Lake), but then he says that they will "at least do some changes in the low-end". It doesnt really fit because either they will re-use older ADL chips or they wont. A re-spin of the C-0 die doesnt change the fact thats its the same old ADL die. I guess he meant that its not a rebranding in the sense that the 12600 will be just called 13600, since the 13600 is based on the C-0 die with 8 E-cores, while the 12600 was based on H-0 with no E-cores at all. So its not a "rebrand" in the literally sense, its more of a re-use of Alder Lake chips.

@@HighYield To follow it you have to hear the question about the rumour that "the dies are the same, Raptor Lake low end is just rebranded". So he asked his source, who came back denying the rumour. So Tom says, "Intel is not rebranding Raptor Lake" ie making Raptor Lake SKUs from rebranded ADL. My first language is English and it was clear to me his contact said a definite no. Tom used the same tone and manner that he uses about definite things I was surprised as your video made me assume you had Intel confirmation. So where was the idea originating? My video is based on the leaked 13th gen parts list I show in the video (I also have the source linked in the video description). I dont have any sources at Intel myself (or anywhere else), so I cant confirm this of course (as I stated in the video). But so far everything points towards Intel rebranding older Alder Lake C-0 and H-0 dies for the non-K i5s and below. Even the recent WCCFTech "leak" showed the same thing. It might be possible that the 13400(F) will be sourced from two different dies, just the 12400(F) before. The 12400 was usually based on the smaller ADL H-0 die, but some parts where using a heavily binned C-0 die (I guess so Intel could use their botched C-0 chips). Maybe the 13400 will also be based on ADL C-0, but some parts could make use of a really heavily binned RPL B-0 die. The launch of Intels 13th Gen is closing in and so far we have only heard about a single Raptor Lake die: B-0. I think its highly unlikely that Intel will use a single die, and a even larger one than before, to supply their entire 13th Gen line-up. Either there is a smaller Raptor Lake die we havent heard of yet, or Intel will indeed re-use Alder Lake C-0 and H-0 dies. Lets see if Tom is right, but so far I stand by my video. If there is any evidence to the contrary I will of course add a pinned comment, just like I said in the video! PS: I just pinned your comment so everyone can follow the current affairs!

@@HighYield I don't doubt that the core counts are the same, but Raptor Lake changes L2 to 2MB from 1.25. If the low end is exactly ADL people will cry foul. A 100MHz clock lift won't impress anyone. Depends on how you classify new. If buying a chip that is lower in the product stack but the newest version does add the e-cores and more performance that the previous chip of the same tier level that did not offer that same configuration then yes that offering is still new for its classification. Intel has ALWAYS made the i5, i7, i9 "K" versions of their chips be considered the best that they offer, when you get below that lower tier level the actual silicone version of the chip is not as important as the chip is then not considered a cutting edge top tier product you are buying but instead below those top tier chips you are then buying more at a certain performance level to a particular price point. As long as the chip delivers what it promises in configuration and performance wise how are you not getting the item you purchased?

On one end of the spectrum of consumer all the specs will be looked up, the other end doesn't care as long as the device has a certain price point and can run their facebook games. It's those in the middle that may purchase on face-value and are the worst kind of consumer, not willing to do put the effort in to make an informed decision and then point the finger at others for their failure. As long as the price matches a level of performance it shouldn't be an issue, even for the 13100. This allows Intel to continue to own the low end and increase margins, potentially. I think the saying is "caveat emptor".

The 12400 was mostly based on H-0, but there were some 12400 chips based on a heavily binned C-0 die. Maybe the 13400 is mostly based on C-0, but some parts might be using a heavily binned B-0 Raptor Lake die? Could be possible, but it would be kinda stupid if ppl buy the 13400 lotto to maybe get a Raptor Lake based part? I hope we get more clarification on that matter on September 27th, were Intel is rumored to unveil their 13th gen CPUs!

Nope, not happy about tricky naming. A more 'honest' approach would be to not rename and drop the price a bit, if the concern is clearing stock of silicon that has not been sold. Tricky naming feels more like Intel drying to squeeze a few extra $$$ out of customers for no good reason. On the upgrade... I am not sold on big.little yet. I still have an older i7-3770k as a home server running Fedora just fine and feel no pressure to upgrade it yet for my use case (not gaming - server, code compilation and massively multi-threaded number crunching). My eye is looking towards 2nd gen AMD Zen4 to upgrade that machine, unless objective reviews and GIOPs scores can convince me otherwise.

After hearing Wendell Level 1 about 12th gen on Linux, the MS/Intel Thread Director cooperation has been done as a black box. The BIOS ACPI tables can be wrong (so Linux fixes up) so it's clear they use shadow data. I found analysis of 12th gen power efficiency and it's seems clear both cores were pushed up the power wall to make benchmark scores. From the Zen4 launch announcement it looks like it brings a big improvement on MT crunching if you care about perf/watt. I used to run a dual MP office server for fast compile but it was noisy, these Ryzen 9 with an AIO and perhaps some tweaking would rip through it at much lower TDP and decibels

"I am Jack's complete lacknof surprise" As you may know from my many comments on your channel, I am not a fan of Intel. Not out of a "go team rah rah" fan boy perspective, but from my decades of experience with building and using PCs. My experience has been, as a consumer, that AMD consistently looks out for the consumer more so than Intel and Nvidia. They have had their moments in the past with poor leadership and naggy board members, but in general they have allowed me to build better PCs for less. With that preface out of the way, my opinion on this is much like my reference at the top of the comment. I do not agree it is right, but I am not surprised whatsoever. Especially if the there is little to no physical changes to the older silicon and mostly just programming. In that case they should just make less 13th Gen and lower the price on 12th gen and make those changes to them imo. Unlike AMD currently Intel is run by corporate minded business people. They know that many consumers just go by the name/gen. OEMs are definitely aware of this too so they don't mind slapping "13th Gen" on their laptops and pre-builts to sell them....especially Dell's shady a--. That is a lot of incentive for them to do this. I'm also confident that those "leaks" are accurate if not intentional to take some of the heat off their GPU blunder. However, I doubt the people at the top and in marketing who do not quite understand the products thought about people noticing this trickiness. They come from a mindset of business where there is little respect for the consumer and see them as gullible. Many are, but in this industry a lot are not. Especially those of us that have been dealing with it for a long time because of BS like this happening in the past. Their numbers don't really take a hit or at least haven't in the past because of it sonit doesn't really register in their eyes that it is a concern. Intel and Nvidia's long time market dominance has made them lazy and arrogant to the point where they are making compounding mistakes. Their greed is becoming quite apparent to many and as the last gen of PC users gain experience and knowledge first hand and from reviewers like yourself MLID, and GN the numbers of those capable of seeing it are about to explode in numbers if they haven't already. I hope it hits them where it hurts....in the bottom line since their ethics and self respect clearly couldn't care less. It's a middle finger to the consumer and I'm hoping they see it for what it is sooner rather than later, but after their hole has been dug.
@HighYield

I feel like the notion that AMD is more consumer friendly is mostly based on the fact, that until now, AMD has always been the underdog. If you are not the market leader, you need to compensate the lack of publicity.

@@HighYield that is very true! Although the company culture can be shaped by that experience. As long as that culture is being led/maintained by a someone like a scientist instead of a generic corprate committee like most large companies, it may continue to do so. I would hate to see AMD all of a sudden turn into such a thing. Not just because of the potential changes in their behavior, but also the fact that many of their gains over the past years have been due to their willingness to take risks and make nessasary innovative design choices to make up for their lower budget. The kind of arrogance that accompanies long term industry leadership especially under such generic corprate mindsets leads to stagnation as they get too use to just throwing money at problems, high marketing budgets, and staff/pay cuts to maintain the profit margins they become accustomed to. They could very well just be a bunch of greedy jerks doing what they have to to make it to the top. I'm in no way a Brand fan boy to the end with anything, but my personal experience has been one of afordable interesting advances that allowed my low budget a$$ to keep up with the software I want to use without breaking the bank as they say. If that makes any sense. I realize they have investors like most large companies and that most people that invest a lot of money, seem entitled to large, long lasting returns. Returns that most of us would never get on any amount of time/effort/money invested into anything. Meaning the pressure to exploit their newly founded position will grow as they take the lead. I'm bias though because I am really sick of the common truth that any major company can't be considered "profitable" unless a few people can get filthy rich off of it. I have no idea what their employee compensation is like or what they pay their executives compared to that may be. But much like the unfortunate "2 party" political system here in the States, when you only have 2 real choices you have to side with the lesser of two evils much of the time IF you want to participate at all. Like the premise of that one Sout Park episode about Voting here between a Guant Douche and a turd sandwich, I will have to go for the giant douche since it is at least sterile even if it is full of vinegar and rather useless to me personally lol. Sorry I just finished reading the news and it has me rather depressed and feeling a tad apathetic right now unfortunately. Wealth Addicts are "ripping the copper out" of our societies and basically getting applauded for it by many of the people affected bynit due to their lack of understanding of the actual situations unfolding. It would be unfortunate to see AMD as such an entity, but I can't say I would be too terribly surprised if it eventually happens. Call me jaded, but it seems to be the norm. In a world where ture basic morality/ consideration is a recipe for poverty and greed/exploitation is the apparent recipe for "success", I often find myself teetering on the edge of "I just don't give a ____ anymore". Or at least wanting to feel that way. Caring about others and their situations these days is exhausting especially when it seems to be the last concern in the minds of those who are capable of providing the most help. When it takes most people everything they have just to support themselves, their ability to help others in need is either non existent or comes at a great cost. That really sucks. I apologize for the depressing rant.

And first of all, stop thinking that over 13600K processor will be better for gaming. i have a 13700K, and i think i will probably resend this for a 13600K, even with UV the CPU heat a lot for nothing and mostly...GOD 16 Cores 24 Threads are so fck*ng useless !! it's a monster...it consume a lot and it's so fcking good, don't get me wrong but for the money....13600k do exact the same in gaming, don't bottleneck any GPU at all or it's so small that you can't perceive at all, frankly it's overkill and bullsh*t. For people saying "Yes but i want the best for 4090 and i wanted to have my CAS 30 6800mhz Golden DDR5 memory" Then yes, ok, go for the latest CPU, but you need big case, custom water, a lot of money just for "gaming" and extra few FPS, and a big ugly PC. actually, only the 13600K and the 7700x3D are the best processor for games for the money and the usage, i can affirm that taking a 13700k is really useless, too much heat even with big cooler and keep in mind that we are only at the Winter so imagine at the summer lmao. A little 13600k cost not that much, with RTX 4080 and a Z790 Tomahawk with DDR5 ofc, you have a CPU that doesn't heat that much, a powerful CPU even for workload, bigger OC capabilities, motherboard won't cost that much and can OC without problem. Actually i suffer from my build : Z690 Unify-X / 13700K , both a bad idea, the Unify are beautiful but the bios and VRM voltage handling are not that good it's like a women with a lot of makeup but with a horrible background , the 13700k are a really good monster...and ? it's not so stable in terms of OC, so it's basically a useless motherboard, the 13700k heat for nothing and you never use 100% all cores because 16 cores and 24 thread are ridiculous, so you consume a lot for nothing and you lost a lot of money, don't make the same mistake that i've do.
