The failed projects are starting to pile up so i might as well start making some fail compilations every now and then :)
Here is what i think happened:
Yellow Bell Pepper - edema
Tamarillo - Did not like the constant light and heat from the grow light. It's now growing quite well after i removed it from the growing station.
Thunder Mountain Longhorn - I remember i fought off some thrips at some point so that might have made too weak to not be able to handle the studio conditions
Lychee - I don't know, probably just me that didn't know what i was doing :) maybe i will try again next year.

It's something that we need to share more of. So much of social media is "look at this successful project that I did perfectly first try" while they skip over the hours of problem solving and missteps - not maliciously, but because it's "not engaging" - that it makes failure seem like an exceptional outcome rather than the expected one.

It's actually quite interesting to see a timelapse of the growth patterns of failing plants. I especially like the tamarillo. Even with it shedding all its leaves, it just keeps climbing, growing towards the light. A fascinating perspective and a testament to the inherent will of life to keep growing, even in the face of death.

The two main problems that I can see: - Lack of one or more mobile nutrients. You can tell because the plant is pulling them out of the older leaves to continue growth. - Lack of strong enough light. These plants are seriously etiolated.

From my experience with peppers you'd usually want to cut off most if not all of the early flowers to allow for more foliage growth, typically if you let the early flowers fruit the plant growth will be a bit stunted and you'll have a smaller lower quality harvest, or in some cases a dead plant.

@@kimjungunbhujiyawala3615 this plant was grown indoors, so the climate wasn't likely the issue. The light seems dim but adequate. The soil is obviously just peat moss, which has no nutrients and very poor structure. The leaves turning brown like that appears to be a nutrient deficiency, possibly from inappropriate pH. Peat moss is typically too acidic without amendment for most plants.

It's not just the sun and the water. You also need to check if there's any bacteria or any virus that's eating the plant. Adding in fertilizers is very important as well for the growth. The soil needs to be soft and not squeezed. Don't throw away banana peels instead cut it in half and put them in normal water (200 ml) for a day, now you can use that water as fertilizer.

I then took them out of the fridge & planted them into individual pots in my kitchen. They both have germinated but one is a lot further along it has a stem & a few small leafs the other one I can see the white root just below the soil but no stem yet….. I’ll see how the other one goes but it might not actually grow into a Horse Chestnut Tree.

Your plants are growing tall fast and the leaves up top are what it's trying to save, that and they are fruting too early, a lower light in their earlier stages will help. Also trimm some of the early flowers/fruits off so it has a chance to grow strong before it produces. If you are feeding them and you should be, try a blend to pormote foilage and strong growth as opposed to fruiting nutrient blends which can come in later.
@BigBassTurd

You could literally see the nutrient deficiencies taking affect. You could really see the deficiency speed up when the plants used their last bit of energy to fruit. Plants won't last long in straight peat or coco coir without nutrients. Good to germinate but after it has used up the nutrients in the seed they need supplemental nutrients.

I hate when I get runts like this when I plant in spring. One year I had ALL runts and I had probably 25-30 seeds. It took them a week and a half to even sprout, and some of them might have been permanently dormant. Even after they sprouted and grew, I had such a small harvest. I decided to just replant different plants since it was already summer. 😔
