@@allanallen1835 You are spot on, and its a complete waste of money really, I think there are some insurance discounts and things that come with it and perhaps some legal advice, but that is about it! and of course, there is a yearly renewal fee !!!! It is just like any journalist's card, you can apply and get one of those for a similar price if you want it from a recognised Union,. it's just the same type of con that gives people fake "authority" in their field. I have also been told but can't confirm, they don't even do a DBS check against your name for the SIA card, so you could come straight out of prison and get one.

It is a condition of the holder of an SIA licence's licensed status that they wear the licence where the front can be seen at all times when engaging in designated licensable activity, unless the license is reported lost or stolen, is presently in hands of the the government, or the nature of their conduct is such that they need to be unidentifiable as engaging in that conduct , eg, a store detective. Even then they have to produce it on request. Hiding it because you don't like being filmed is not a valid exception, and "being at work doing their job" is precisely what obliges them to keep the card on display. Ignoring the terms of your licence is... Not Allowed!

When I was a kid - it was a while ago now, I was very lucky and my parents would take me places on days out. One day we went to a model show in London somewhere. There was security there, a company called "Burns" I think, all ex services, medal ribbons on show, my uncle was with us, ex WW II Royal Marine and he gave them the resect they deserved. Should the security tell you to stop filming? Legally, no. I can understand why they would approach you for filming the building they are employed to protect though. They're genuinely just trying to do their job (sometimes wrong) and earn a living. Also, the question 'What does a terrorist look like' is a very valid question. Even AB struggled to give an answer to that. Think AB can be too harsh on people sometimes and just ends up turning into a wind up merchant.

Just completed 3 units on the mock test for it SIA security guard 27/30 I didn't even read the book it's so easy it's unbelievable you get given the answers you just have to remember them. Most of the questions are just straight forward everyday life things you would do normally in situations. The 3 questions I got wrong were easy to get wrong if you haven't read the book. However quite how some of these so-called security guards actually get a pass is beyond me even though you only need 70%

UK has the most dense CCTV coverage. If you in public there's no problem. Not sure where it would be illegal. It can be challenged if there is an intrusion into a private residence.

CCTV is the very foundation of a modern security system the person, group running it doesn't change the law. Government have a few more laws to regulate covert surveillance, but signage makes it overt and mitigates those regulations.
