Yes! I commented about this once! I have seen that on the right side of the note quite “frequently”. “Frequently” being the key word!

I've got a small box where I put any stars notes, 5-6 of the same digit notes, older notes, and other finds that seemed interesting while sorting. Had set a couple of these aside, but constantly found myself whenever I'd add new notes to the box picking these up and saying, "why is this one here?" After a minute, oh yeah, the 7 is a little darker / overinked. Finally, decided if I have to look and guess what the error is... its not a error!

I remember when I first started noticing that type of note, there were channels saying that they were worth something over face value, with the exception of one channel that insisted that they really weren't special. After about 6 more weeks of noticing them, and how frequently I saw them, well, I am still subscribed to the one channel that told the truth about them.

Well it is a stretch to call this an error. Is also a stretch to call the listing a scam. For something to be a scam there must be a clear deception by the merchant. Offering an outlandish price is not a scam; that's called a bad deal. And we can't really tell whether the seller profits; chances are the listing goes unsold and they have to pay an eBay a few bucks for the listing fee on the buck that doesn't sell; Or if it does sell they still have to pay eBay a few bucks for the final value comm, so naturally the minimum offer price to put on eBay should be much greater than the seller's cost to obtain the thing. The "You can bid $10 for this if you want" does not mean the seller is telling you that item is worth $10 on the market. There is no misrepresentation, therefore it is just a bad deal and not a scam.

@@Mysdia A bad deal is a nice way of calling it a scam. When you put a price on an item, you are implying value. eBay doesn’t charge unless it sells. So I would say you are wrong on all accounts.

@@Stuplubakcurrency I mean a scam is by definition fraud. Things like price gouging or scalping are many bad things, but not related to the concept of a scam or swindle. It becomes fraud when merchants deliberately deceive customers through a material false statement or omission about the item for sale. In this case they describe the things as over-inked and show pictures, which seems accurate. A scam would be if you Pay the $10 for the item, and the thing they send you in the mail is not as described doesn't match the picture or turns out to be damaged or a counterfeit that the seller knows about. As for eBay; the last time I sold something there the final value of the unit was $50, and eBay+Paypal got about $20 in fees and $10 paid to UPS for shipping, so you end up with about 40% of the sale price. They charge Insertion fees for adding a sales listing and Listing features which are not refunded even if nobody buys the listed item. Sellers get 250 fee inserts per month, but anyone selling an appreciable volume will quickly run out of Zero-fee listing insertions. Once you do you pay to list each item for sale, and eBay keeps the money even for the listings that don't sell.
