Excited about the higher resolution, however loosing free-frame (meaning having to turn the camera manually between horizontal & vertical video) is a bit unfortunate… This was a key feature why I got the Go3.

@@uldmedia I believe it much more cropped in on the go3s in free frame which makes it unusable. But it should be sharper and have better colours. So I’m hoping I can get decent vertical crops from horizontal 4K. Hopefully good enough for reels

Great video as usual. I'm so torn, the probe shot and a lot of the broll looked amazing but a lot of the vlogging stuff still looks kinda mushy/grainy. I think part of it is our A-cam quality is getting so good it's hard to match these type cameras with it. The casual viewer doesn't mind I guess. All I want is the perfect camera lol!

I mostly agree with you! My guess however is that the Freeform feature is probably one of the least used by the average consumer. They market this camera as a lifestyle camera for regular people, but regular people don’t want to import footage into software to be processed before they can do anything with it. I hope the Go4 keeps the square sensor option though!

My Go2 has a "Pro video" setting i always use, so no matter what orientation my camera is in that mode gives me FlowState stabilization, the option to adjust the aspect ratio during editing, and most importantly; horizon leveling. Is there a setting so that the Go3s standalone camera can be clipped to my backpack and regardless how my backpack is situated; right-side-up or sideways, the footage taken by the camera will remain smooth and horizon leveled? Also, my Go2 has haptic vibration so i don't need to look at a light or activate the beeping. Does the Go3s have that feature in the camera (not the action pod)?

Ahhhhh …. It’s the aspect ratio thing that fouls me up. This is a really stupid question but I’ll ask anyway. Why is it that when I record vertically the video file is fine but when recording horizontally the video file is sideways ? I mean it records sideways. I am not drinking when I am using the Go 3. For everyone knowledge about horizon level + video rotation, the go3s crops the video a lot using freeframe and 360 Horizon lock view, shame, the Go2 had better Horizon lock and wider angle of view, also you can't rotate the video on freeframe. In the Go2 you can add keyframes, rotate video for a barrel efect and lock Horizon while switching from filming horizontal to vertical, not anymore on insta go 3s.

Yup! The Go3 also has all of that, which is why they now have two different options. Average consumers aren’t buying these and keyframing rotation, they want small high quality video.
