'Not Clever': How Jaishankar rubbished India joining U.S or China-led axis in emerging world order

Elaborating on India's foreign policy amid the ongoing invasion of Ukraine by Russia, External affairs minister S Jaishankar said that the nation was not sitting on the fence, just because its policy may not be agreeable to some other countries. The foreign minister took part in GLOBESEC 2022, talking on ‘Taking Friendship to the Next Level: Allies in the Indo-Pacific’. "This idea that I do a transaction, that I come in one conflict because it will help in conflict 2- that's not how the world works. A lot of our problems in China have nothing to do with Ukraine, Russia. They are predated," Jaishankar said as he was asked on whether India expects global help in its situation with China. He also said that Europe has to grow out of the mindset that their problem is the world's problem but the world's problem is not their problem. Watch this video for more details.

I say this as an American, that is exactly the right mindset. Put your own population, their interests and their culture first. It is what governments are supposed to do. It appears to me that he places the interests of India first. What the US and Europe want, doesn't make it a priority for India. India has its own strategic relationships and priorities. From Denmark: Incredible how these so called "journalists", i.e. the lady interviewing the Indian Foreign Minister Mr. S. Jaishankar, think that they know it all, from bilateral relations between sovereign countries to foreign policy & geopolitics. She started laying out erroneous premisses (block politics) and from there she thought that she could frame Mr Jaishanker into buying into the falsehood of her assumptions and statements. Mr. Jaishanker avoided falling in her trap & chose to treat her in a gentle way, telling her the obvious: That India is powerful enough to have it´s own policy. He put her in her place: i.e. made her understand that she lacked discerning intelligence, because, like many others of her "profession", she lives in a fictional bubble and think it is smart to be rude and that ignorance can be covered up with an appearance of being "though" and assertive in her questions... The problem for these reporters is that they are too one-dimensional in their approach. The set of questions they have, are the instructions from greedy, egocentric oligarchs and politicians who have very little, if any, nuanced approached to real world issues. When I heard that Sushma Swaraj was no more, I partly lost hope in the "India's Strong Foreign policy Vision". But when this gentleman became the EAM without any elections through direct appointment, I was taken aback and surprised to see such shift in national politics. But No doubt, He is the best diplomat turned Foreign minister and a Technocrat we have till date. The words he chose are very clever. He said that "Our Choices are not cynical and transactional". The words "Non-Cynical and Non-transactional" forms the fundamental element of India's Foreign Policy and more specifically how India looks at the world. The Non-Cynical and Non-Transactional depicts that Unlike US and Other Western Countries and China, India does not do business with Humanity And does not protects its self interests jeopardising others'. The best example is the Free vaccine distribution to all the needy countries.
