He says I don't know because he is interested in getting investors. He said no to Elon because Elon wanted full control of the board and Sam being in startup investment capital knew that this would limit growth and direction to Elons preference. Elon is smart and wants money. Sam needed more money and knew he could get uncapped growth and bigger dollars from Microsoft and apple. I think that would be a better representation of the situation.

Hi! Thank you so much for watching my video and commenting, I really appreciate it! You have great insight; I really appreciate you contributing it. But I see things slightly differently. (-"He says I don't know because he is interested in getting investors.) OpenAI already had a huge investment from Microsoft when Sam did the interview. And then received a $100B further investment from Microsoft. Sam Altman is not worried about receiving investments. Being the leader in AI gets them investments. So, it seems that can't be the reason he said he "doesn't know" why Elon is coming after them. (-"He said no to Elon because Elon wanted full control of the board and Sam being in startup investment capital knew that this would limit growth and direction to Elons preference.") Elon or Sam being in control is going to create amazing outcomes. In fact, every big AI company is literally doing the same things. I think Sam just didn't want Elon in charge. Elon was telling Sam & co. they weren't operating for the benefit of humanity. And Elon wanted them to stop, especially since Elon was the one funding the company. It looks more like Sam Altman was just taking advantage of Elon. So, when Elon gave them the ultimatum, Sam just immediately declined. As if the jig was up and he expected Elon would eventually figure it out. (-"Elon is smart and wants money.") Elon wanted OpenAI to be open. He literally named the company. He wasn't doing it for money. That's the most famous part of the whole saga. Elon wanted them to create AGI for the benefit of humanity-NOT for the profits of Microsoft. LATER it was generally agreed between all parties that useful AI cannot be created without major investments. THAT'S when Elon offered to bring them within Tesla. But Sam declined. (-"Sam needed more money and knew he could get uncapped growth and bigger dollars from Microsoft and apple.") "Uncapped growth"? They're constantly wrestling with Microsoft. Microsoft owns 49% of OpenAI. "Bigger dollars"? Tesla has invested fortunes in AI, and they're the leader in real world AI. Tesla would have given Sam anything he wanted. Those are my thoughts. I'm not really saying you're wrong, honestly. And, again, I really appreciate your insight. It's a friendly discussion. And if I'm wrong about any point, I'm happy to admit it. Thank you so much for commenting! If you have any questions, feel free to ask! Thanks again!

Umm Elon founded it with the sole intent of not making money and to democratize AI for everyone. He only wanted to bring it under Tesla because Sam wanted to start making money off of it.

Are Elon's concerns reasonable or justifiable? How do you go from an Open-source, not for profit, to a closed-source, for profit?
@1337Keith
@1337Keith 3 ай бұрын
@@Corteum Hi again! Thank you so much for commenting! It's really awesome of you! And you ask the exactly correct question! So, it turns out, Elon and Sam discovered during the process of getting OpenAI up-and-running that an AI company cannot operate completely openly. That, apparently, AI is too expensive an invention to not have huge investments supporting its growth. So, they decided to go a closed-source route. It was then that Elon offered to bring OpenAI within Tesla. But Sam and OpenAI declined. Which burned Elon, since he gave them $50 million, helped develop the company, and THEN got nothing for it. That is, at least, what is generally known of what happened. Even though I love, and am excited for, the future of OpenAI, I think Elon is absolutely right to want to squash and surpass them with xAI. OpenAI owes Elon a lot, after all, in essence, they took his money, insulted him, and kicked him out for no good reason. I'm not surprised Elon dislikes OpenAI. So, there you go! Thank you again so much for commenting! I really appreciate it! You're very insightful! Thank you!

Yep, I agree with @spinettp. There's a difference between "burning" someone and saying, "No, sorry. You can't have complete control over our product." I was a huge fan of Elon until he started veering towards the conspiracy fringes of rightwing politics. After seeing what he did to Twitter, I have far more doubts about his judgement.

Hi! Thanks for commenting! It's really awesome of you! I say they burned Elon because he gave OpenAI $50 million dollars, got them up and running, they agreed they were building AI for the benefit of humanity, and then OpenAI decided to break away from Elon and give him nothing, despite his investment. That's burning someone. Also, you think OpenAI is "sorry"? They're clearly not sorry they burned Elon. I'm surprised to hear you say you were a "huge fan" of Elon Musk, but now are not. "...conspiracy fringes of rightwing politics." What are your referring to? "After seeing what he did to Twitter." He has massively improved Twitter. Twitter used to unjustly ban people permanently. Elon said that's wrong because it combats free speech. Free speech is a good thing. Also, Elon published a series on the past nefarious behavior of Twitter called The Twitter Files. I've followed Elon Musk for years and I've only ever seen his judgement as excellent. It's excellent because he applies common sense. These are my thoughts, by all means if I'm wrong about something or have information incorrect, please let me know. I'm not criticizing you; I'm just interested in your point of view. And this is a friendly discussion. Thank you so much for commenting, I really appreciate it!

Conspiracy fringes? Dude has been more right than any politician on either side lmao. Hating because it hurts your team is dumb. Elon is the man and politics sucks on both sides. Don’t get drawn into that.

Comparing Musk to politicians is probably not the best metric. And yes, Musk has been right about tons of things. But you have to admit there have been times when his judgement has been off. Or am I not allowed to criticise your hero?
@siliconvalleymetal
@siliconvalleymetal 3 ай бұрын
@@b.h.7661 you brought up the politics so I’m assuming you got offended because he made a joke or meme that triggered you because it effected someone which you support. You can criticize all you want and of course he makes mistakes but he is only human and he did intend for OpenAI to be open source for everyone to compete with the big boys. He only wanted to bring it under Tesla because Sam wanted to monetize it. You prefer AI to be only in the hands of huge corporations while everyone loses their job? I trust openAI with Elon and Tesla more than with Microsoft. With Tesla, he opened up all his patents for other car companies and plans to license FSD once he achieves it. Despite his flaws you should judge him by his intentions and actions at the same time and not just by a few mistakes.

@@siliconvalleymetal I never thought of Musk in political terms, I just always admired his creativity and inovation. It was only when he started to use his position to influence politics that it raised my concerns. And yes, I do have my own political bias. And you are right about the concerns of AI being in the hands of huge corporations, but wouldn't you agree, that there's a similar risk in a single person holding a controlling share in the world's largest AI organisation?
