Oh my goodness, I just finished Church History Made Easy a couple of months ago. It was excellent! A lady was giving it away for free at a garage sale and I scooped it up, tempted to chastise her for getting rid of it, lol. I love Church History. It is fascinating! Make sure to do a deep dive on the Waldenses, Albigenses, and other persecuted groups of faithful believers that never gave in to the evils of the Catholic Church and thus had to remain hidden throughout the Middle Ages in the Swiss, French, and Italian Alps. Millions were hunted and killed over 1,000 years by the RCC, until they joined the Reformed churches during the Reformation. It’s truly amazing that so few know about these amazing forebears of the Protestants. Thank you for your video!

I bought my curriculum back in March and then my spring and summer filled up and I am now finally getting to binge some homeschool videos. Yay! I love what you're doing for history. I decided to do Church History this year too. I already have books that chronicle the history of the church in narrative form which is the style my 8th grader loves, so I figured easy peasy, no need to buy that subject. This Faithipedia looks great! I may have to check it out.

I recently discovered Not Consumed and purchased both the old and new faithopedias! I also got their reading journals as well. I plan on incorporating the faithopedia with Answers for Kids bible study and apologias who is God. (I know right, that's a lot). I also just ordered Trial and Triumph Complete church history and I already have the Adams Map of History and Rose book of bible charts, maps and timeline. Im excited to work on meshing it altogether. I hope this Sept to go on field trip to the Ark.

@@OurHOMEschoolPlan I'm to the point where I think just using Scripture for our curriculum is the safest way to go. Church history is mainly about the reformers, Protestantism which in my honest opinion through lots of research, is reformed Catholicism
@JuliaCantley Жыл бұрын
I know this is an older video so hopefully you'll see this comment.... I'm considering this for my 9th grader for a little more meaty bible time but I also want to share it with my younger kids too, which I think is what you do? So maybe you will know but do you plan to still use faithipedia when your girls are in high school even though you've done it when them? Maybe some other apologetics? I'm thinking ahead
@OurHOMEschoolPlan Жыл бұрын
I probably won’t use it again. But you never know. It’s not SUPER meaty. It’s like “tastes” that you can dive into deeper with other resources. So for example, we are using the church history book. That’s an excellent book. (Infact, if you missed my recent video on how we do our Morning time, I go into more of HOW we’ve been doing all of this). But even just this week, I pulled out the book “Dangerous Journey” the adaptation of Pilgrims Progress bc we just read about John Bunyan. This has been a great source of conversation also! I also pulled out all of my old Classical Conversations timeline cards bc they had extra info on church history. So the Faithipedia is like a jumping off point and then maybe it can spark other ideas for you and what you may want to dig deeper into! I will never give up our time together with my high schooler. BUT…I am thinking about adding on his own apologetics course for next year. I just haven’t done much research yet to decide what I want. The Dangerous Journey book I mentioned: amzn.to/3lFtEhZ *affiliate link
@JuliaCantley Жыл бұрын
@@OurHOMEschoolPlan I love The Dangerous Journey! We read that and part of Pilgrim's Progress before. I would definitely pull it out again. I added the Church History book to my amazon list. I was looking into the Masterbooks apologetics course but I think I might do that for one of his later grades. Thanks for your response!

I just bought this and one of her other studies. Since you did Foundations, how did you like it compared to the MacArthurs you mentioned and other studies you’ve done with all your kids together?
@OurHOMEschoolPlan2 жыл бұрын
Not consumed studies are VERY different from MacArthur’s family devotional. So I can’t compare them. 😁 if I had to choose one over the other, I’d probably go with MacArthur’s bc he’s a pastor and points out things deeper than we may look at them. We’ve been doing that one now for 6 years and I still (and an adult) get a lot out of it. You COULD add onto MacArthur’s with your own assignments for your kids dig into (like Not Consumed) if you looked ahead. :) hope that helps
@racheltichy64062 жыл бұрын
That does! Thank you! Want to make sure it’s deep enough for my teen.

@@racheltichy6406 the way we use the family devotional is all together though, not an individual. MacArthur may have an older study also.
