Netflix shares videos of the Avatar : The Last Airbender cast's reactions when they first found out they got their roles. Fans highlighted the moment when Gordon Cormier was told he got the role of Aang, and the other cast members seemed moved as well. However, in the midst of that emotional moment, Gordon suddenly paused when he realized he needed to shave his hair.
Fans also recalled Gordon's almost-teary reaction to the announcement that Avatar would be renewed for seasons 2 and 3. Fans humorously commented that Gordon reacted that way because he was both emotional and realized he would be bald again.
In an interview, the cast was asked why Aang had to be bald, Gordon randomly blurted out like this. But Kiawentiio then provided a more detailed explanation.

@@MILEZ.PILEZZ Spoilers: After being shot by lightning by Azula, which happens at the end of season 2, Aang ends up in a coma. At the beginning of season 3, due to him not being able to shave his head, it grew. He doesn’t shave it to hide his arrow during the time he was in the fire nation. But for the invasion he shaves it. So that is why he would have hair during season 3. Hope this helps!
