My dog and I have just recently been chased and attacked TWICE by a pitbul terrier that wasn't on a lead whilst out walking. The most horrific and terrifing experience of my life!! These dogs are so big and so incredibly strong. Yes it is the responsibility of the owner but unfortunately my experience is that responsible dog owners of such breads are few and far between. It has happened twice in less than 2 years (2 different dogs, 2 diffident owners in 2 completely different locations) resulting in my hospitalisation and my dog (Border Collie) that was left, both times, very close to death!! Please be responsible people for the love of God. Train and discipline your dogs 🙏

I think we should start a world wide tag system. Red for stay away, yellow for caution, green for safe to approach. I would add a black stripe for in training. Could be implemented as a vest, leash/collar or straps attached. Anything to make it easy to spot. Just a thought.

I relinquished a beloved animal because not because I could not care for it but because where we had to relocate to made it dangerous for him to go outside and we just were unable to curtail the cats behavior of wanting to go outside. It pulled my heart out of my chest but at the end of the day if you LOVE an animal its about the animal....not you. Keep telling people its the deed not the breed and the deeds are caused by people. Absolutely right, and a point that many overlook. Sometimes, a usually docile family pet will randomly flip and attack. Other times, owners will raise them poorly, or actively encourage aggression, and then they attack. It really doesn't matter the cause though, because the outcome is the same - more people, including children, dead or mutilated. Nobody needs to own these appalling animals, and nobody should. Ban them now.

I have a standard female piebald American bully, she is such a sweetie but I will say she will defend her family when it comes to it. Someone tried to take me daughter at the park and she ran full speed after him and locked on until the police arrived. I never even trained her to do that, she did that out of loyalty and love. I can’t imagine what things would be like if she wasn’t in our life, so glad I found her.

My profile picture is my American Bully, I was walking him as 2 coyotes ran up to me and attacked me. He lunged at the smaller coyote, biting its neck and forcing it to run off. I kicked the other coyote but it bit me again but my American Bully came to the rescue and the other one ran away. I know coyote attacks are rare but I soon figured that they had pups in the woods where we were walking. To this day I’ll never forget it.

One should read the Wikipedia article on this breed. This video represents that they are loving calm dogs very separate from the American pitbull. And that's probably true of most of them. However, there have been a number of mauling deaths by this breed in the last couple of years in the UK. I'm a believer that training is most of it. But in a few cases they've turned on their owners and innocents even when they have not been trained to be aggressive. All I'm saying is to use caution. These are not golden retrievers.

A mother and her teenage son have been attacked on Monday night by this type of dog. They were looking after it and it was at their house. My friend saw it. They are her neighbours It has ripped the mothers throat out and has other body injuries. Her sons arm was hanging off. Viscous attack Both are in a critical condition.

@@armandonorig I think the guy's point is a Golden Retreiver and a labrador have a "soft" mouth, they are bred not to chew things aggresively they are bred to bring back game birds without puncturing the bird. I have a Labrador and i can play fight with him and he'll mouth my arm but it does very little damage, very light bruising. The difference is that these Bully dogs have a bite strength that is in excess of 500lbs compared to a lab at around 200lbs. Also Bully's or their derivatives were bred for bull baiting. Like any dog socialization is the key, however i'd suggest a labrador is the equivalent of having an air pistol compared for a small calibre hand gun for a Bully - in the wrong hands one is much more likley to result in terrible injury than the other.

​​@@terencej72wrong. The "soft mouth" doesn't mean anything other than they have better control over their jaw pressure when handling things like delicate birds. It has nothing to do with their likelihood to bite or ability to cause injury when biting. In fact, despite their reputation as harmless family dogs, labradors are one of the top ten most dangerous breeds of dog and have killed several people. But they don't look scary so nobody cares.

@@Briscom A dog from any breed can be aggressive. I have an American Bully who I rescued from a shelter. He looks very similar to Cartel. But he is the sweetest guy who loves all people and other dogs and sleeps with his cat brother. Being in my 50s now I've rescued lots of dogs. Jack Russell Terriers have been the most aggressive for me, and I found that cocker spaniels could not be trusted with children. I've had great experience with chows and pit bull breeds as family dogs, and mixed results with German Shepherds and collies. Bottom line is that dogs are not easy. They require pretty much the same time, energy and dedication you give to your human family and if you can't give that, don't get one.

I do think they look cuter, though I honestly prefer the overall look of cropped ears. They're cropped for safety reasons, since they commonly work in bite work or other rough sports, so there is such a high risk of the dogs ear getting stuck and ripped off if uncropped.

Hulk was a Pitbull, a big one with about 70 kilogramms, that a 154 punds and some extra. Mine hat 50 kilo, that about 110 pumds. if that helps u better

All you can do is have the necessary precautions in place to deal with a situation for when the dog snaps. Saw one out in my neighbourhood with his owner today. The thing locked onto one of my neighbours whilst he was walking towards his car. This dog did not break eye contact until my neighbour drove away. The owner just stood there, unable to get the dog to break eye contact. Absolutely nothing he could do. Accident waiting to happen.

Unfortunately it’s mostly scummy types who want this breed of dog to give off a certain hard man image. They aren’t prepared or skilled enough to put in the hard graft to train and socialise them and before you know it the dog is out of control. I owned an American XL Bully for 10 yrs until we had to put him down due to Cancer. Ali was very easy to train (scary easy), loved kids/small people, and was protective of the house and property...perfect dog. We didn't crop Ali's ears and he was super handsome. We received compliments ALL THE TIME! Ali weighed about 125 at his heaviest and would be walked with weighted vest to tire him out. I'm now ready to have another dog however know others may be harder to train.

Well had best freind with an American Pitbull. In New Zealand, before they were declared a dangerous breed was an immensely popular dog. The strain that was brought into NZ in general were tan color, athletic build with muscle and generally attractive dogs. Like everywhere else it was bad owners that gave them the bad reputation. Yenko was a massive male hugely powerful but similar in nature to these guys. He was around kids, cats and friends so socialised. However given the reputation you were aware of him and made sure he was happy. Even an accidental nibble given his power was totally different from a smaller dog. That was no better demonstrated by when you have him a beef leg bone as thick as a big man's fist at the knuckle. He would EAT IT COMPLETELY in 15 20 minutes, not chew it. Another time was we were building a retaining wall with 150mm round X 2400 long posts, he was using them as fetch sticks.

Those cases are mislabeled dogs lumped in to blame one as if it's a breed issue... when it's a dog issue. They don't have the desired temperament neither the American Pit Bull Terrier is bred for and the breed standard calls for... nor the temperament that the American Bully is bred for or the breed standard calls for. So where lies the issue? It isn't in the breed... because that isn't a desired trait. *For those who are uneducated - Please remember the health of breeds similar to this.* XXL's and Pockets are some of the most unhealthy dogs out there. Even the XL's are bred for aesthetic purposes. I'm sure many of you have heard of 'Hulk' and dogs similar to him which were bred by his breeder and then became more popular. Many dogs like these are not healthy. Luckily, the XL's have leg length on their side. If you've seen other breeders videos like this then you would know that lots of dogs like these have complications with their health and quite a few pups will die when first born.
