I didn't explain this in the video, but how come I consider the Integrated Suit overdesigned and not the TASM suit? Well, what I consider as "overdesign" is when there's an excessive amount of details that are placed on a costume for seemingly no reason. An overabundance of panels and textures and lines that ultimately clutter a design. However, not only is the TASM1 suit not nearly as complicated, but the way it's designed is fully intentional and serves a purpose to the plot. It isn't just complicated to look modern, it's complicated to display the character and his motivations. As far as I'm concerned, the TASM1 suit is not overdesigned in the slightest, as there was a clear vision and thought put into it.

Part of the problem with people complaining is probably just because the original costume is just so well designed. It just looks so good, and people don't want that to change. However, I do agree some redesigns should be given a chance, as you said. The best redesigns seem to be ones that make sense withing the story. Like your explanation of the TASM 1 suit, or the Advanced Suit as Otto made that for Peter. Or simply ones that take colors that were on the original suit, and move them around a bit, like with the Rivals suit

one thing i will say about the mcu version of the iron spider/the integrated suit is that the way the spider logo on the chest sorta like transfers and inverts itself on the back is really really nice imo, it feels very inspired as a design choice and i really really dig it

I respect your opinion, but it's not really up for debate that something like the integrated suit is overdesigned 😅 that doesn't have to be a bad thing for some people, but it is to me. It just ruins the design for me when there's way too much and it gets super hard to follow. Also, not liking something definitely doesn't make it overdesigned, I totally agree with that. Another issue with the Integrated suit is that it doesn’t exist for character growth or plot like the Stealth and Upgraded Suits in FFH, it exists to sell more merchandise. It was a CGI coverup of a beautiful physical suit for no narrative reason other than money. It’s supposed to just be the nanotech Otto took redistributed to the upgraded suit, but that somehow adds red fabric to places red fabric never existed before. The armoured parts from the nanotech don’t serve any purpose or help in the fight (maybe it blocked the bullet that hit Peter after the condo fight, but that’s never made clear and is such a small moment that it’s pointless). And it actually makes one event make even less sense. And that’s when Otto fights Electro at the Statue of Liberty. It’s been well established that electricity can damage the tentacles (it’s what broke the inhibitor chip in the first place, and what knocked Otto down in the Spider-man 2 final fight. But when facing Electro, nothing happens. If he kept the nanotech, then it would have made more sense as the nanotech is most likely designed to handle the charge and protect Otto from getting zapped. But because he gave Peter the nanotech back, his tentacles would be vulnerable to electricity again (only the inhibitor chip was fixed and reinforced, the tentacles should operate the same as they did in Spider-man 2). The integrated suit is just an ugly marketing scheme because Avi Arad wants to milk as much merchandise as possible from this franchise.

@@TRZ-Official Another great detail from the TASM 1 suit is how the gloves look like they can actually come off. You can especially see it in the bridge scene with the texture of the blue fabric looking different from the sleeve, the raised appearance it has on the rest of the suit, etc. As well as what looks to be a built in face-shell for it to not be such a jarring shift from a completely fabric mask to something more rigid for the lenses and face shape. I really wish TASM 2 retained design qualities from the first suit instead of completely changing it. While the TASM 2 suit is beautiful (except for how low the chest logo is), I'd have loved to see details like the red strip down the legs and the way some of the webbing flows on the suit (especially the gloves). I've seen fanart of a blend of the two suits and it looks amazing and more of a natural evolution of the TASM 1 suit instead of a complete design change.

Here’s what I think: the first time a suit gets adapted, it needs to be comic accurate so that the general audience will know what it’s supposed to look like. That’s what raimi did with the classic spider man suit. He made comic accurate with only a few minor differences, which allowed the creators of tasm1 to have more creative freedom with the suit that they made. The problem is when raimi re-designed the black suit to be a classic suit recolor, or how the mcu turned the iron spider into a giant mess of dookie (and yeah, I know the iron spider got a comic accurate look in the usm show, but I don’t count that as a big adaptation and they also made people think that the person who’s supposed to wear it is some random hulk side character). Sure, not every suit has to be comic accurate, but not every suit needs to be re-designed. All I’m asking is that they give us the comic accurate suits at least ONCE, and then they can go all out with the re-designs

Problem with live action or any media suit isn't the accuracy, it's the overdesigned, terrible line work, or cutting in certain aspects like the red sleeve just to be lazy(I swear, MCU and Disney's Animated Spider-Man are the worst offenders of this, I know tasm1 did the same thing but it was an artistic choice to minimized it).

I personally love it when people take liberties with Spider-man's suit design. It's cool to see so much creativity, and a few of them work extremely well. The Future Foundation suit is nothing like the OG suit, but it's awesome. And some suits are just cool nods. It's fan service, like the Black Panther based suit for Miles. The suits that take the OG suit and throw a spin to it are 50/50. Sometimes it works like Spider-man 2 for PS5, sometimes it just feels like another OG, like Tom Holland's first suit. His suit was cool and felt the closest to the iconic Spider-man look from the cartoons where his eyes were expressive and the symbol wasn't so detailed, but it isn't as creative. In short, it's really cool to just see different artists give their take on Spider-man's costume. Let everyone's imagination run while and get surprised by masterpieces we didn't know we needed. There are some crazy good ones from fans, and of course some crazy bad ones too. But it's the joy of the creativity behind the costumes.

That does upset me too! Especially psms(a channel on yt where they make spider man suits) video which he talks about how horrible is the mcu iron spider suit cause it's a bad comic accurate suit. But to tell my sin, I like that suit and I like the fact that it was a given a more homecoming spider man look with small bits of iron man(also the small details), unlike the comic book iron spider which is just a red and gold of the classic suit(I like that suit too, it works for a comic book or a game). My taste in suits is like my taste in ice cream flavors, I don't want to always eat chocolate ice cream!

I disagree, studios should be as close as possible to the masterpiece that is the source material. When they stray from that path and do their own thing, they're rarely inspired. The rare times they did do good are ones like ps4 spider-man and marvel rivals spider-man

I partially agree. I absolutely love when they do that and I prefer it to redesigns, but there's something special about when a redesign is really good. Not only is it something new to discuss and analyze, but it helps to associate that suit with that version of Spidey. Like the Advanced Suit or the TASM1 suit for instance. I'm really glad we have those, and in TASM1's case I don't think the Classic Suit would have worked at all, tone-wise. It's times like that when studios have no choice but to do a redesign.

I don't think that's up for debate. It is an objectively complicated suit. For instance the red fabric is actually maroon, with black hexagons printed on it and 3D raised hexagons that act as air pockets. The webbing curves in unorthodox ways and lines up with cuts on the spider, The gloves have a completely unique blue fabric strip running down the forearm, and there's a lot of complicated seams on the suit. Among many, many other things. You really can't say it's not complicated. But that doesn't have to be a bad thing. I prefer it that way since it benefits the story.
