Going off topic So what the factions in Azur Lane are based on is actually not as simple as what you have been told @Trailblazer_Rinia Royal Navy is based on the Royal Navy of the British Empire and the ships of the former dominion navies, the Royal Australian Navy, Royal Canadian Navy, Royal New Zealand Navy, Royal Indian Navy, Royal South African Navy and the navies of the members of the Commonwealth who were former members of the British Empire. Northern Parliament is based on the Imperial Russian Navy and the Soviet Navy Eagle Union is based on the US Navy Iron Blood is based on the Kriegsmarine and the Kaiserliche Marine aka the Imperial German Navy of WW1 Sakura Empire is based on the Imperial Japanese Navy Sardegna Empire is based on the Regina Marina Dragon Empery is based on the Republic of China Navy and the People's Liberation Army Navy, there is 1 major problem when it comes to the world of AL because the history of Cold War and beyond only works because USA and USSR become the top 2 powers but the Sirens have fubar'd the timeline so much that de-colonisation will never happen beyond 1908, heck to be blunt, any independence movements no matter who post 1908 will die off before they ever got going as independence would equal to a country choosing to destroy itself as the independent country would have to face the sirens alone which would only end 1 way, the Independent country being wiped out like f.e Haiti which i suspect did not survive the 1st siren wars and realistically some de-colonisation will have been undone meaning you cannot rely on anything from beyond 1908 no matter what it is like Ibn Saud forming Saudi Arabia, I have a suspicion, he doesn't survive the 1st siren wars meaning the Federation of South Arabia would absorb what we know as North Yemen and Saudi Arabia into 1 British controlled state of South Arabia or the partition of Ireland and India won't happen. Frankly meaning post WW2 ships minus the Anshans do not work because the decisions that created them wouldn't happen the way they did.

I believe that Chen’s witnessing of the city sanctioned massacre of the infected was really the breaking point between Chen and her relationship with Wei. Given how Chen is infected and has been trying to provide for the infected of Lungmen to a limited extent for quite some time. Perhaps after what she witnessed, Chen realizes that her efforts won’t really amount to anything unless the core issue has been addressed, which is Lungmen’s treatment and opinions of the infected. Hence why she revoked her officer’s badge in order to find a new path for herself and to find the answers to her city’s injustice.
@Trailblazer_Ririna2 ай бұрын
For sure, but she still held some hope for Wei until they argued in the office. That's when she realized that all of her efforts were hopeless since as you said, the core issues need to be addressed in order for things to get better. At least, that's what I felt while reading Chapter 7! Still haven't completed the entire chapter though, so will need to see if my observations and thoughts were pretty correct or if they were off the mark! I guess I'll see how it goes~

even though I didn't play AK, these thoughts of yours in this video make me think of things that are not related to this game specifically Cuz there are a lot of stories like this and while some have different facade, they all reflects us, real people in front of the screen. Maybe I'm too far from a topic but this vid reminded me the days when I read my fav books thinking ""oh, I'm an exacty copy of this character" or "no, I'd never do something like this", but it's all just different parts of our being. Interesting that games also give people the same feelings.

In the end, forms of entertainment are a reflection of us humans because they were created by us and are for us! It's why I enjoy consuming stories because they either fulfill some kind of desire or make us reflect on our own life, sometimes even changing people's lives while at it! Another reason why I can't stop consuming media of all sorts...
@Milty20012 ай бұрын
Its crazy how much lore the writers put into akrnights, it's similar to our own world except it has the infected, then there's the ability of making rumors that can effect everyone around you, trust is hard to obtain but easy to lose
@Trailblazer_Ririna2 ай бұрын
Most definitely! That's why I found Amiya's words, well, specifically those mentioned in the video, to be the most profound so far. Because we've all experienced it at least once in our lives, where we're misunderstood, viewed negatively, or even betrayed by those closest to us! And so it's honestly great (but painful) to see it happen to side characters AND major characters in the game. No one is spared from this pain!
@aquachrist2 ай бұрын
I’d say the main differences between our world and AK are the catastrophes and the magic powers. Horrific diseases have always come along with humanity and the bigotry surrounding oripathy has many parallels in our own world. One could even say it acts as the game’s primary piece of commentary.
@Trailblazer_Ririna2 ай бұрын
@@aquachrist I do wonder though if the Catastrophes are similar to natural disasters in our world, obviously with some differences, but I always questioned if it was supposed to be reflection of that!

@@Trailblazer_Ririna in essence I agree but it’s a matter of scale and it tightly ties in with other more unique aspects of the setting (mobile cities and originium). There’s definitely a climate change analogy in there though, with originium being both the basis of industry and climatological disaster.

damn, when you said you would do an essay I was expecting to see a story summary with a few of your thoughts at the end, not a masterpiece that delves into the complex social constructs of disagreement between people both online or IRL and how it parallels with the characters in ch7 as well with how Amiya gives us the view of trying to understand the other side. @@Trailblazer_Ririna The honor is mine. I merely stated the truth. Arknights is like the fusion of the first 2 stories of cancerous crystals I encountered during my early teenager days: Guilty Crown & Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars. Both tells about how the crystals affect the people in both positive and negative ways, with the Apocalypse Virus can be used to obtain unimaginable powers(by researching it and creating the Void Genome) and Tiberium growing by leeching ores & mineral substances(therefore, it can be used as a seemingly infinite alternative resources), but both can grow on living organisms' body(including, but not limited to: humans) & is extremely contagious, eventually resulting in Japan losing its sovereignty in GC & the world borders being redrawn into 3 categories(depending on the severity of Tiberium infestation level) after the spread of Tiberium caused societal collapse of many countries at the outset of 3rd Tiberium War. And with this video of yours, I am being reminded that there's more than just mass-producing Stealth Tanks and Black Hand Legionnaires or pulling out a great sword capable of deflecting missiles from someone's chest. The people who were afflicted with the Apocalypse Virus and those who lived in the middle of Tiberium Yellow Zone and near the borders of a Red Zone have to suffer greatly & daily, while those under the protection of GHQ and Blue Zone set up by the GDI(Global Defense Initiative, initially UN's elite military whose current goal is to reclaim the Earth from the crystals) can relatively enjoy life as we know it today. People will do anything for survival, either by trading their free will with absolute obedience + a cure, or joins organizations like Funeral Parlor or the Brotherhood of Nod(basically a religious version of Reunion Movement & eternal rivalling world power of GDI who believes that the crystals are the next step needed in order for mankind to evolve) and then try fighting the authority to get their own freedom....from rescuing unknown person from a crystal-ridden warzone, to abandoning/betraying each other, anything. And just like what I've said....your video gave me that nostalgic moment when I first time I heard Euterpe, where I stopped seeing the crystal-ridden worlds from the perspective of a GDI/Nod Commander for a while, and started trying to look at things from the eyes of civilians caught in the middle of the conflicts. And I can't thank you enough.

Reunion goals or ideals are different depending on the commanders they follow. Like example as Skullshatterer where Misha explains to amiya that reunion just wants the world to know their pain and suffering which is why they go rampage and started mass kiling and causing destruction as a vision how the infected felt. Frostnova who believed talulah can actually give home for the infected but instead she suddenly starts mass kiling civilians. Guerilla fighters who wants peace but never get to see one. Faust who never wanted to hurt anyone both infected and non infected. Mephisto who wants to burn everything down and create a new world that is created by the infected. Overall its a mess and its just everyone who wants to survive and find a purpose to their existence as an infected
@Trailblazer_Ririna2 ай бұрын
That makes sense and I do agree with you! But it doesn't change the fact that a lot of Non-Infected continue to see Reunion as something negative, including some of the Infected, even though Reunion only wants the world to know about their pain and suffering, which is why they go on rampages and do mass killings. But because of that, I do want to bring up that in reality, no normal person is going to be understanding of such a reason as a "proper reason for killing another", even if it's hypocritical of them to say so, and will instead view such violent organization as... well, something bad and negative, regardless of their intentions. It's a sad reality. Or at the very least, that's what I think!

I appreciate the writter for Arknights don't really let his/her ego take over when writing the story just because he/she has the power of "why not". And definitely Arknights handled the player character well, it's slow at start but it's looking good. Often in these gachas they getting sidetracked and purposely forget to talk about the MC and just hope the player forget it because the player character exist just for the sake for the player and get the Messiah treatment and everyone just somehow like you. Everyone who think Arknights Doctor is just lazy self insert, it's just they haven't seen it, Doctor is rather unique because it self insert but also kinda not since Doctor has his/her own background. Thought it's pretty far if you're still in ch. 7. I hope you get to experience event story, that's where they build the world and sometimes casually dropping important lore and a lot of fun facts about this universe.
@Trailblazer_Ririna2 ай бұрын
Yes, I agree with you on that! They do handle the characters, including the player, really well! Sure, it's slow, but if you think about it, no one can immediately understand another person in real life, instead, it's a slow process, filled with misunderstandings, miscommunication, empathy, and compassion. So I like the fact that the writers aren't afraid of reflecting such things in the story for Arknights! And so I look forward to the day that we get to learn more about the Doctor since clearly, there are some things about the old Doctor that is quite sus tbh. Will definitely be experiencing the event stories too (and release videos like this for them, maybe multiple videos, rather than just one)!

Reunion is a literal omage towards Great October Revolution in Russia. Many in the west think of it as a horrible event comunnism and bla bla bla. But in reality noone understand why it happened. In that time workers and peasants live in horrible conditions, 12-14 hours work-day on factory and salary enough to cover everyday needs, without vacation and beter start working at 14 years or you will not get enough experience. (eagh just like infected life in Kazimirez, Victoria or Columbia) And with that start great war millions of death and noone even understand for what they are dying? Because big higher-up cant decide whose colonies goes to whom. Thats why vawe of revolutions goes through all of Europe, but almost everythere it was supressed brutally and bloody, Only in Germany and Russia it gets succesgul, but world didnt accept this new system.

I dunno about that one. I never interpreted the uprising as comparable to the October Revolution. My thought was translating the Reunionist actions as a desperate attempt to rebel against the position the Infected found themselves in. My personal head canon has been that the industrial revolution that Terra engaged in before Chernobog-Lungmen, the Infected masses won significant reforms that made their lives better. Much like 1960s America with MLK and the Civil Rights movement: the later on frustrations expressed by Black Power arguing for more action comes to mind. A younger generation comes around & finds themselves frustrated with their elders, the daily disappointments they face spur them to take action, failing to or not understanding that building power requires a lot of patience and mass organizing to carry out. Just My two cents here, really.

Extremes are bad.any good idea can become terrible.Wei was Idealist.yet he do terrible things to keep power .hm This reminds me Chaos Gods.cuz they are not evil.but extreme.Tzeench is god of change,Hope,magic.but also treachery .Collapsals are wery inspired by this stuff.i guess.

Yes, I agree! Extremes are never good. In fact, even if an idea is great, it should be implemented in moderation to keep balance, rather than taking over something completely. Those who only act in the extreme and think in the extreme will end up becoming another Wei!

9:30 A world with compassion, support and understanding? A world where people try to reach out to each other, instead of push others over to a cliff? A world where everyone understands that behind *every person* there is a story that make them become like this? There is a so tremendous gap between such world and the one we live in, that even thinking about it makes me feel depressed. Sigh..... Well The good thing, believe it or not, this world actually becomes more humane in general. At least, statistically. At least, in some cases. And we can improve it more, with a help of Science. Like, we already know that there is a "switch" in a brain, that dictates whether you will be compassionate about that other person or not. Most people do actually can be very empathetic and supportive to other people. The important thing is question is whether you see other people as "thems" or "ours"? That is very crucial distinction. If they "ours", they are friends, allies, trusted partners. In short, they are *our* people, our community. But, if this group is "not our group", they are "not like us", they are "thems", they are "others", then.. you may not even see them as people anymore. And if they not people, or people of "second sort", then why do you should care about them, *right?* The bless and curse of this phenomenon is that it can be *very easily manipulated* Luckily, it can swayed in both ways. The other part of the picture is that we also already *know* that we think that we are in control of many things in our lives, but we actually don't. We *know* that myriad different factors shape us as to what we are today, right in this moment. And we *know* that such things as "will", "backbone", "courage", "persistence" are also a result of other things, over which we have no control. Nothing of this comes from a thin air. All of this was caused by our previous *biological* history in a tandem dance with *environment* we grown up in. Basically, there is a reason (actually, immeasurable quantity of reasons) of why people the way they are. Be it a "good" person or "bad" person. We all just a people. Like, just, humans. Each individual one of us. Just a... Humanity.

Truth is, I know as long as we live Our ideals dye rivers scarlet Firing shots in the name of justice Declaring love, we can only reminisce As cruelty becomes heroic This Really encapsulates the whole Arknights story especially the Reunion Arc As for the Upcoming Story Event "Babel" We will learn the whole backstory of "Doctor" And Theresa

That really does encompass the entirety of the Arknights story at its core (at least from what I've read so far)! Beautiful but very tragic... Thank you for sharing~!
