Farmers Dog actually sells the supplement powder for homemade food. When you buy it they give you the recipe and serving amounts for your dogs. It’s a lot cheaper than buying the prepared food but still makes sure they get the nutrition they need.

I actually fed my first golden retriever, grain, free food, thinking it was the best for him. He ended up with congestive heart failure, which looked like cancer and x-rays and passed away at 9 1/2 years. He passed away prematurely due to the food that I fed him so now I feed my second golden Kibble, but I do feed him kibble with green

I've been making my dogs food for over a year now. My dogs lost weight (they were chubby) and their health has improved drastically. Brown rice, chicken, turkey, or beef (i do a combination), and veggies. They love it and it is great for dogs with renal issues.

I’ve always cooked my dogs food: chicken breast, white rice, puréed pumpkin or sweet potato, coconut oil, lentil! Vetnarian recommend recipe! Also, peeled apples, baby carrots, cucumbers, cheese sticks for snacks!

Home cooked is best. But they need a vitamin block, a centrum silver works and taurine weekly, 1 sardine each. My boss is a dog nutritionist. If you do want kibble for travel, wholesome chicken and rice is best or Earthborn. I’ve worked for her rescue for 7 years and I’ve seen what a difference stabilized nutrition can do

The reason why vets promote specific kibble diets is because those specific brands (Hills Science, Royal Canin prescription, Purina Pro Plan) is because those brands have board certified veterinarians and veterinary nutritionist on their team working with them to ensure the best quality of food. Veterinarians do not receive a commission nor kickbacks by promoting/selling these diets; they do it because they truly believe in the quality and trust in the team of veterinary professionals that spend years perfecting recipes

Don’t feed raw or grain free!! I’ve worked at a vet clinic for more than 20 years and both of them are harmful for different reasons. Besides that feed your dogs whatever works best for them! We do feel doodles are mix breeds. Really expensive mutts in most cases. Some think they don’t shed but most still do.

I believe at least 90 plus percent of vets get paid for selling their "vet recommended" food. I believe it is mostly not the best. Fresh is ALWAYS better as long as you can give the dogs a balanced diet. No kibble is needed for the most part. It is more work, but we'll worth it for the health of the dogs.

We have always made homemade food for our shih tzu. He is 9 years old. I used to make his with turkey, but later, discovered he had an intolerance or allergy to turkey. Now he eats venison(deer/elk meat), cooked with brown rice, sweet potato, peas, carrots, and pumpkin. He does eat salmon grain free kibble that is available all day. We feed him 1/4 cup of homemade food at breakfast and dinner. I also give him a probiotic for his gut health daily(recommended by his vet), and we add an enzyme to his water bowl to keep his teeth clean. I buy the enzyme on Amazon along with the probiotic.

Farmer's Dog is cheaper than a high vet bill. Another guy on You Tube just paid almost $9,000 for his dog to have kidney stones removed! And sounds like it was due to DRIED FOOD. Meat is acidic and helps prevent stones - and lengthens lifespan. Totally worth it!

Before sharing my opinion of type of food, did you know that a very large percentage of Vets are on a commission basis. And I am not speaking of just the retail products they offer. That is not ethically correct. Regarding food opinion, yes quality kibble for younger cats & dogs. But for senior animals, wet food for it is easier for them to digest, aging kidneys, constipation, etc. , but with that, be vigilant in brushing their teeth. Oh, and research the benifits of adding 100% pure pumpkin (not pie filling) to their diet and add water to their food dish. Again, food senior cats and dogs.✌️

Im just here to say, I do everything for my dog too. My husband did all the lovins. Who does he like more? Of course, the one who only loves him. Not the one with all the responsibilities. My husband hasnt played fetch with this dog one time. I do it twice daily. Plus all the training. All the walks. And my husband's the favorites. She keeps it up. it's over. And I'm here to say there is no worse feeling than putting your everything into a dog and your spouse deliberately steal their affections. Ya. We're 2 years in and I'm still salty about it. 😊

Fresh food is better for everyone and animals. I used to make homemade gluten free/ only because I have celiac and I made my own natural gluten free flour a few ways. And made my own peanut butter. For really cheap. The tool aka vitamin mix with the dry ingredient adapter was a very great investment and paid off in many ways. Dog treats included.

I don’t want to come off as telling you what you need to feed your dogs, but I would like to encourage you to research diet associated dilated cardiomyopathy in dogs. It’s very serious and usually isn’t caught until it’s too far developed. This is often caused by homemade diets and other boutique brands that are grain free. Vets typically will recommend food from what is called the big 5: Purina (any type of purina, very cost effective and backed by decades of research), Eukabuba, Royal Canin, Hills Science Diet, and I believe Iams. Just something to think about and look into for your pups’ sakes! Much love! Beautiful family all around.

Fun facts: some doodles might have a coat that doesn’t shed but they still have dander (dead skin) and saliva that people can be allergic to 😊 Doodles can also be born with a double coat with one layer that does shed and another layer similar to a poodle coat. They’re super interesting dogs when you look at the genetics and how each generation changes. My family used to have a black labradoodle with a coat like little Rizzo’s and she actually did shed a tiny little bit. The AKC probably won’t allow doodles to be registered because there’s too much variety to set a standard haha

I want a golden doodle or a doodle of some sorts cause of my allergies/ashma but haven’t been able to get one just yet.
