Yes, that's a strange place to put the indicator. Yes, you just had to give it a ride and surf.

the big lifts appear like they have been modernized again, but I'm not sure. But the small lifts have been replaced. There used to be modernized M.A.N. elevators before. Very annoying the new shaft doors are stainless steel. Also the new fat metal doorframes of the small lifts don't fit design of the lift hall. Compared to the other elevators without such frames and the architecture of the halls, these frames are totaly out of character.

yes that is true but they also built lifts in the 70's and 80's...

2:36 No you don't have to hold it down for it to light up, press the button let go then after a second it lights up. That's a new feature of the Otis GEN2.

It's not a feature, it's a glitch...

Your understanding of why the chasis (car frame) would be removed is not exactly well thought. If they are buying a GEN2 mod for MRL I presume I would imagine scrapping a dedicated car sling allows for a larger platform, as well as lowers can dead weight to reduce sheave shaft load requirements, cwt biscuits, etc. Which can have resulting impacts on clear overhead, etc .

Removing the chassis is a complete disgusting act. The chassis does not wear out. It is a heavy and strong part of the lift. Modern day lifts are cheap nasty shit that wears out in no time at all. If you think removing the chassis is a good thing then you have clearly been brainwashed by a lift company. Lets say a 1960s otis lift, which can last 100 years if it has little use and lasts 50 years with medium use. Lets say the lift has reached 50 years old and some parts are worn out. The chassis will not be worn out. With a good mod the lift could last another 50 years. It will need new doors (the fastest wearing part of the lift) and will need new disabled height buttons (I personally think the old buttons should be kept when the new buttons go in) and engineers will most likely replace the logic (although I prefer the original logic). The motor may need to be taken to pieces and serviced and then put back together again (a completely new motor may not be necessary). If the logic is replaced with something with good with intellegent levelling, and the structure of the car is kept, then there is no reason the lift can't last another 50 years. If the lift is replaced with a gen2 then it will last 20 - 25 years. How on earth do you think this replacement is acceptable. Also, lets take Kone for an example. Kone can do some very good mods of old lifts using the MX18 ecodisc in a motor room. LCE is a great logic, and using an MR ecodisc and keeping the structure of the car untouched is a great mod. But despite this, Kone rarely do these nice mods, instead they prefer to replace everything with an MRL ecodisc which will simply not last as long.

@@benolifts Building owners probably don't care about long-lasting elevators/lifts; instead, they just want the biggest lift they can get without giving a toss to its age. I believe one of the reasons a lot of EcoDisc replacements are MRL is so that the building owner can use the motor room for something else.
