Traditional wire ropes also stretch, and the belts are basically a polyurethane housing for multiple smaller wire ropes. So, I wouldn't be surprised if these belts stretched too.

M R L's are the worst thing that ever happened to elevators. Impossible to provide a detailed inspection and insure that the safeties are indeed working. Too much is dependent on the controller telling you the safety's are working. YES these elevators ride nice but that's all I can say.
@ahmethilmi68655 жыл бұрын
Belts are a sort of trap to get building owners hooked. A counter counts the start stops of the car. And when it hits a predefined number there is nothing you can do but have the belts changed. ( for almost the half of the price of the complete elevator ) . It's not only otis . Kone schindler etc are all the same . I would rather use traditional wire ropes and polyester pulleys instead.

this is why Hitachi & Mitsubishi never went the "belt" way. Japanese knows what's best, steel wire rope is the best.

Machine roomless (MRL), good in theory, bad in reality. Otis took a bad design from a competitor and actually made it worse. IMPORTANT: They don't say it in the video but they have to install a service box beside the elevator on the top most floor. .... So don't think all the electrical parts will be completely inside. I got cheated on this part because the person sold the elevator to me for 14 Lakhs and didn't even tell me about this important tidbit. I got the elevator after one year and that too near the completion of my house and by then it was too late to ask for a refund(which I am sure they wouldn't have given even with the mistake on their side) or a replacement without such a feature.
@watapompi482410 ай бұрын
What are you talking about? Have you ever seen an electrical system without an electrical or service box? Come on… And in that video they tell you that the heat sensors are in the « Machine » the« Controller » and the « Drive »…. I’m sorry if you didn’t realise but that is kind of obvious..
