Hello. I've got a 1994 VW T4 Autosleeper Trident high top 1.9td. My question is what would you replace the suspension struts with? I think there is no damping left in them, not sure if aftermarket are good or which make. Thanks

Try personal cover with Autoaid or Gem motoring assist who cover any small motorhome .The size and weight restrictions are on their website. The VW Gatcombe fits their criteria and is covered .Hope this helps.

( Approx ) They vary on spec' etc. What is A Used Tatty but Just about Useable Entry level Average Mileage version Selling for. ? How Much is this exact item ? How Much if it was A Genuine MINT Perfect Low Mileage FINEST available on that Year. How Much is this one 20 yrs Old ? £10 k, 15 k , 20 k, 30 k ??? An approximate Price Bracket / Guide price would be very useful to buyers , Watchers, & those Learning & getting Interested. We Need to Know What a Very Good one is Worth / Asking Price. & The Best & Worst . ( not Bottom end of the Market, Just A Guide as to What to Expect for What Approx Price. There is the Retired Banker, Who sold his £2Million House & Cashed his £2.5 M pension Looking for an affordable camper for the Grandkids to Wreck . Or The Man in Yorkshire Saving up to Buy one Next 2 yrs if he can afford it. £99,000 is a bargain to some. £21,000. is £three Grand More than they have Available this yr, until the Pension kicks in. Students Taking a " YEAR OUT " Travelling ? Grandparents Offer them £12,000 For a Camper, & £30,000 To Bugger off far away & find a Life for themselves. RENAULT Vans Are Superb. 334,000 miles out of mine & Ready to go for the HALF MILLION MILE CLUB . Mint NoRust, No Major Faults, Just the Average Service items & a New Clutch, due to Diaphram Leak. Just Replaced the Original 2007 Engine Battery. Lots of Brake Pads & discs & other Sundries etc. Very Few New Tyres, Surprising How long Top Brand Tyres Last. & Mine is a Commercial Van Hammering Up & Down the Motorways in all weathers. Day & Night. It Has Never Failed to Complete a Journey, & NEVER Been Towed . At 330,000 miles will still Cruise at DOUBLE it's Legal limit in the UK. Constant 115 mph for 2 to 3 hours , from what i hear from others. & will Accelerate away from 80 mph in a flash. to peak at 110 mph them climb to 115 + ? BYE BYE SPRINTERS When Empty. Sprinter EATER, FK U Fast Boy. i'm Gone !!

My P Reg 1997 2 Berth cost me £12,000 I've had the inside converted to 4 berth, which are selling from anything upwards of £14,000 plus. They will only increase in value. The VW body is built like a tank, and the cabin shell is fibre glass, it will never rust, thats why they hold their price. They do leak around the top black perspex on both sides of van, it can easily be repaired with silicon. to look at mine you would think it had just left the showroom. Bought for my 2 grandkids as well as an investment. Mine cost from new £14,995, still have the reciept, one of the few motors I've owned which will not drop in valve. You can buy cheaper but you can bet your sweet ass the inside will be gutted. Not bad for a 23yr old motorhome, make sure its on a VW body, the engine are good for 300,000 miles plus if kept serviced. Mine got 133,000 miles on it and it still sounds sweet.

Thank you for a very informative and detailed description of a beautiful van. The lines of this model and others like it are timeless. These were built to last as you say. Simple electrics and operation. They do indeed hold their value.....testament to their build quality and huge following. Much prefer the Gatcombe to some of the more modern and plastic offerings that are out there costing double. An excellent review thanks for taking the time to do it.
