Not for the Season - Wilco (Yankee Hotel Foxtrot Demo)

"Not for the Season" was recorded for, but left off of, Wilco's seminal Yankee Hotel Foxtrot album.
Now featured with far superior sound quality on the 11-disc deluxe edition of YHF under the less interesting title "Anniversary."
There's a backing track of a full band pop version that doesn't have a vocal, which is super frustrating, because it's a great arrangement.

Nice post... though Tweedy and Co. have produced some fine tunes over the years, imo.. A Ghost is Born, The Whole Love, even Schmilco are great for my money. To each there own tho. Cheers.

They were definitely on top of their game then. But if you don't like what they have done since that's a shame and just means you haven't grown with them. The best musicians change throughout their careers. The Beatles did it, the Stones did it. Why shouldn't the best band of my generation do it?

For me, it's not that I think they're any worse or better. I just seem to gravitate towards things that Jay Bennett was involved with. I understand that. I first got into Wilco when I was in high school when Mermaid Avenue was released, and through that I found out about them, Billy Bragg, Son Volt, Uncle Tupelo, and alt.country. And since folk and alt.country is more my bag, Wilco's sonic growth isn't really my thing. That's fine. To each their own. Music is like every other piece of art: it's subjective and everyone judges it within their own frame of reference.
