The solo on this version of the song makes it superior to every other rendition (and I've heard practically all of them). Bravo to Tweedy and crew for this terrific performance.

Tweedy wrote this amazing song and he can play it whenever he wants to do so. My favorite version is on the "Sunken Treasure DVD" with Jeff and Glenn.

It's not a Loose Fur song. It was officially released on "Loose Fur," yes. It was written before that album by Jeff, and it was supposed to go on Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. There are several demos of Wilco playing a different version of the song from that period. Loose Fur wrote this arrangement, but the song existed with Jeff/Wilco before Loose Fur.

Wilco fan for a long time. Does anyone know the year of this live rendition? I’m thinking mid 2000s Edit: possibly early 2000s - 2002, 2003, or 2004. Does anyone actually know the year of this live rendition of Laminated Cat (Not for the Season)? I’m trying to find my favourite/most definitive rendition of Lam. Cat by Tweedy solo on stage (or not) acoustic. Best found so far is Tweedy alone in chair (from memory) playing this in the loft in Sam Jones’ I am Trying to Break Your Heart (Wilco) documentary. Literally half asleep here so hope above makes sense, and, if you reply, thank you so fricken much ❤

Laminated Cat is on Loose Fur's first album, not Born Again in the USA.

Actually it's a tune from the Yankee Hotel Foxtrot sessions that didn't make the cut. Started out as "Not for the Season" but by time they were done with it they'd changed its name to "Laminated Cat". Whether they felt it didn't fit with the rest of the final track listing of the album or not, I don't know. Tweedy and drummer Glen Kotche reworked it (a little) with their side project, Loose Fur, and it's on Loose Fur's first EP, Loose Fur. It's not on the second one, which was Born Again In the USA. The early, Wilco-played versions are available on the YHF Demos, which is pretty easy to find online for free.

Glen didnt join Wilco until after loose Fur was done, so it was first a loose fur song, then reworked for wilco, Tweedy enjoyed Glen's drumming so much in the side project, he fired wilco's drummer to replace him with Glen

This isn't a Wilco song. its by Loose Fur, which was Jeff, Glen, and Jim O'Rourke. Google it, their album "Born in he USA" is better than anything Tweedy wrote with Wilco.
