David Elliott The end of her 8th year as Prime Minister is when I remember when things started to 'decline'. She was too inflexable domestically. If she had given into the more moderate factions of the Party she would have encountered less resistance. She had more challenges than what she expected from inside the Party than from Labour. Her lack of flexibility set her up for the 'fall'. It doesn't take away from her monumental accomplishments.

She didn't think the way to help the South African people was to throw millions of them out of work (which sanctions would have done). However, at every turn, she talked with the then South African government about ending apartheid. She offered them help in making it happen. In her own memoirs she discussed how abhorrent she found racism.

Britain seem to be much better and organized under a woman Prime Minister. She is the best Prime Minister post WW2 after Churchill. Many Prime Minister that came after her and I have lived underbthem all, I can say honestly, so far she's the best; determined, prudent in financial management and honest.
