Dark Messiah of Might and Magic for sure. Other mentions: Legends of Dawn, E.Y.E.: Divine Cybermancy, and Zeno Clash. I'm not entirely sure what your criteria is for this series, btw. Is it based on a game's lack of success and popularity? If so, the last two might not qualify.
@Indigo_Gaming7 жыл бұрын
I don't have any hard criteria for the series, but it should be a game that isn't brand new, was underappreciated or less successful than it should have been, but has merits or innovation worthy of being remembered. I've gotten suggestions for E.Y.E. for my Cyberpunk series, and Dark Messiah is an interesting choice, definitely one I'd like to cover someday. Thanks!

It's an unfortunate lesson that creators need to learn: if you want to make a trilogy, series or franchise you must make the first one amazing enough to get people invested. So many great ideas will never be seen because they were all planned for sequels to games people found boring.

A sequel would be awesome, but like I said in the video, it would likely require Donald Mustard personally buying the game's IP from whatever dark pit it's laid in for these past years and self- or crowd-funding the game. It COULD happen (hey, we're getting System Shock and that game was in IP purgatory), but it's very unlikely.

That cliffhanger ending has me furious when I heard they scrapped the rest of the trilogy. This whole game was a constant build up to an ending that all but guaranteed a sequel that would have been most likely ten times as powerful of a story as the first. Wow..... just hearing the sad but nostalgic music makes me wanna cry. No other music, storyline, characters, and/or memories I had with this game could never be so impacting in my childhood. Literally being the first space-game besides Valkyrie that I played, it was so interesting to become immersed in a successful storytelling experience. Also the villains and power ups were hard to maintain, which made it more interesting since I had to practice different ones. And I also played Aeon Flux, which was also cool, but not as interesting though. Probably why not much copies of it were out.

i found your fallout video and then had my mind blown by seeing you made a video about one of my favorite games from when i was a high school freshman. i didn't think anyone else remembered it! this was a very ambitious title - i remember there was a mission where you were supposed to escort two giant versions of the game's offbrand warthog (which the big ones also carried, and you could hop into one and drive around anytime you wanted - conceptually), while you were under attack the entire time. almost a decade later halo 4 had a level close to that!

I've been doing those in After Effects, Audition, and Pro Tools for so long, though, that I can already do all of that stuff one way or another. It doesn't even really save that much time. I know the TV station I work for has some sort of static licensing at the moment, and we're frozen at CC 2015. I'm not sure what the financial details are and how that affects pricing, though. I don't even see any deals like that on Adobe's site, but I'm told by the powers that be that's why we can't update. (rolls eyes)

Excellent video, thanks for making this! I really liked Advent Rising when it launched; it was a simple, turn-off-your-brain action game with an interesting concept, so it was sad to see it fall apart to quick and harshly. Maybe if they had delayed it further, put it on the 360 with better performance, graphics, and a more fleshed out combat system, it could have been a scifi series that we would still be talking about today.
@Indigo_Gaming7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I think timing was a big factor, as well as being a technical mess on release. I mean it ran in the same engine as BioShock did, so they could have brought it to the 360 for a more impressive release. That would have meant delays and Majesco had a terrible year for AAA games, so who knows what would have happened then. But I believe it would have made for a significantly better game.

Just bought this at a thrift store, wasn't sure what it was about but took a chance because I rarely find good games. It looks pretty cool, can't wait to check it out :)

Had it on xbox and really liked it, found it on steam a few years back and picked it up again. Some parts of it seem really clunky now, but the story and overall experience is still great.
