Whatever is needed, has to be Indian made. Gone are the days that someone from foreign manufacturers will determine what India needs for her defense. If it takes a few more years, so be it.

It is nice to see a difference in openly analyzing the shortcomings, especially against China both in quantity and quality of preparedness, than do a soul searching after an event when these are bound to arise after an event in the public domain

Sir, I respect you a lot as defence analyst and in a way you have the stature of a Guru. Regarding the presentation, if I may suggest, show the content of the digital whiteboard as prime content of the video. Use more graphics and bullet points on the board. At times if we can only hear your voice and see the content on screen, it would be enough. Regards

1. What is the difference in ISTAR and AWACS? 2. What are the reasons even after 5 years we haven’t closed AAR deal? 3. What’s should be the priority list according to you in terms of IAFs purchase?
@ranarks Жыл бұрын
ISTAR is an objective or a concept. AWACS is a platform to achieve that.
@vivekrajput7 Жыл бұрын
Istar Is basically a surveillance aerial platform which focuses on ground based detection of military platforms and force positioning picture at a theater level. For this it employs various functions like Electromagnetic spectrum intelligence , communication intelligence, Radar emissions updating and analyzing radar frequencies and libraries. Positioning of military armored platforms using SAR and GMTI modes of airborne Radar. Whereas AWACS basically focuses on EMINT COMINT Aircraft detection and interrogation like IFF and directing aerial operations at similar level but in aerial domain only. And of course these are system of systems. Not standalone platforms

Excellent presentation. Touched upon a real serious issue. Suggestion to increase the graphics part. Hope the planners and the babudom of MoD are listening. Could you please look at the need arguments in favor for an integrated air command. Rather than breaking up the already depleted force.

Dude, AEW&CS and AWACS are basically the same -- it's just that the E3 Sentry and the Japanese AWACS are specifically called AWACS, and we call these types of platforms AEW&C... but they're both the same. (AWACS: Airborne Early Warning & Control System) and (AEW&C: Airborne Warning and Control System). Cheers
@drjashankar221 Жыл бұрын
AWACS is USAF specific designation other airforces use AEW&CS designation for same aircraft, both are Airborne Early Warning and Control Systems, these aircraft act as flying command and control nodes that communicate target information to combat assets of the airforce, the aircrafts (AWACS and AEW&CS) are non combatant aircraft, they do not carry any airborne weapons… In reference to your previous video, 2 squadrons of Rafales each at Ambala and Hashimara are not sufficient, we will need additional 2 squadrons of Rafales at Gorakhpur and another one squadron Rafale at Jamnagar. Also instead of procuring 12 Su-30 MKI and 21 Mig-29 UPG from Russia the Airforce can go for 36 to 72 second hand F-16 block 50/52 from USAF wartime storage reserve as a stopgap arrangement which could be retired by 2040 to be replaced by indigenous fighters like MWF, AMCA, ORCA/TEDBF…

Thanks for raising these vital issues. My Q is what is IAF/MoD/HAL doing??? Sleeping at the wheel s usual? Still flying Mig-21s a 1960s era aircraft. Shame on them, they bear moral responsibility for each pilot who loses his life. Even Rajnath Singh not doing enough, he had a great start but seems to have lost momentum, or is that the Indian defense bureaucracy is so bad they will not let it happen until it is too late? Look at Turkey and South Korea, how fast they are rolling out new aircraft. We need more AWACS, refuelers, more heavy lift helicopters like Chnook, more transport aircraft, drones, fighters, we have no stealth, the list is long. Always behind even by Pakistan. Why are we wasting time on Tejas Mk-1Am then Mk-2 etc? Pour resource on AMCA and quickly develop it? It is ridiculous.
@ranarks Жыл бұрын
Put all resources into AMCA and deliver it fast 😂😂 just the way 9 women will be able to deliver baby in a month

It has become a story of SOUR GRAPES. * * * * * * * need to do critically think for ordering these platforms as future war won't wait till the high tea is enjoyed fully. Home grown systems should be ordered in QUANTITY to surpass any QUALITY issues in first block of manufacturing. Being guided by a NORTH STAR in another galaxy won't help anybody to reach shores. 10 billion USD per year must be used efficiently and orders given for LCH/LUH/LCA ASAP.

Hy does the arms procurement system require 5 years to get the required items? Sort out the system; once the request for information is floated, it shouldn't take more than a year for the Indian forces to decide on system to be acquired. From then on, the government must decide to go aatmanirbhar Or not for the selected items considering the domestic capability - not more than 6 months. In short, it shouldn't take more than 18 months to place an order once the requirement is identified, accepted and RFIs are received.
@adhirbose9910 Жыл бұрын
The USA has the military industrial complex. A trio that consists of the military, politicians and arm's manufacturing companies. India has the military commission complex. A trio that consists of the babus. Netas and the dalals. The military's job is to put out a requirement, everything else is decided and done by the above mentioned trio. Bdw. India never plans for a war, we wait for the war to come to us. Our post independence history is proof of that.

The shortcomings were highlighted multiple times but due to budgetary constraints, things didn't work out. Don't know how the government would manage the massive defence revenue expenditure and depreciated capital outlay due to that. The Agniveer scheme despite opposition by subsidy & freebies crazy left liberal-minded opposition think tanks is the only way forward in the long run.
